Sixteenth Amendment: Anything but American
The ratification of Sixteenth Amendment in 1913, which
allowed the federal government to collect taxes on incomes, was never
intended to
be permanent. It was designed to help fund America’s involvement in
World War I only, and initially took the form of a bill. The reason it
became an amendment to the Constitution was because conservatives –
opposing the idea of an arbitrary tax on incomes – thought that if
they insisted on an amendment, rather than a bill, the tax would never
materialize due to the tedious ratification process.

E.P.A. targets conservatives too
All agencies of the federal government are
likely to be rife with political biases. Among the few good people in
government,
there are a lot of bad ones — individuals who are at peace with using
government force as a weapon. Congress needs to begin to look closely
at
all agencies of government and investigate them for the same reason that
they are investigating the I.R.S.

Rumors of the Demise of Conservatism are Sorely
Exaggerated.
Dinner conversation with a group of conservative
activist friends could have been pretty depressing if I were not as they

rooted in 60 something years of life experiences and faith in God. I am
idiotic enough to believe God’s word when it says “in everything give
thanks”. Call me crazy, naïve and silly, but no matter
how bad the situation, I look for the blessing. Read

Governing Is about Choices, Even on Disaster Aid
Oklahoma Republican Senator Tom Coburn has been
criticized for suggesting that any money appropriated to pay for
disaster relief for
Oklahoma should be offset by spending cuts elsewhere in the federal
budget. But Coburn is right. “There is no real compassion in adding to
the
future burdens of our children and grandchildren.” Read
