Gingrich to announce 2012 intentions within two weeks
By
Emi Kolawole
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says he will form an exploratory committee for a potential 2012 bid and could make his intentions known in as little as two weeks, according to reports.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported Saturday that Randy Evans, the lawyer in charge of Gingrich's business interests, said Gingrich would announce the formation of a presidential exploratory committee within "the next 10 days." Evans was Gingrich's lawyer during his divorce proceedings in 1999.
Gingrich also told an audience in Florida on Friday that he was within two weeks of making a decision as to whether he would run for president, according to The Palm Beach Post.
In a statement to the Post, Gingrich's press secretary Rick Tyler wrote, "We have said for weeks now that Newt will decide whether or not to move to an explore phase by late February/early March. We are sticking to that schedule. In response to what has been said: Newt will make up his mind in his time."
Gingrich has been openly mulling a presidential bid for months, and his fundraising acumen, combined with is relatively favorable standing among early polls could make him a formidable candidate. In October, the Post's Karen Tumulty reported that Gingrich had begun "transitioning" his four businesses so that they would not become political impediments. And the Post's Dan Eggen outlined in January that much of Gingrich's financial status remains unknown - something that could complicate matters for a candidate Gingrich under the presidential klieg lights.
The Post's Chris Cillizza reported in early February that Gingrich could be among the most underrated candidates in the field of potential 2012 candidates.

Practically any Republican running would be an improvement over Obama and his big-government socialist agenda. As a conservative, I have two BIG problems with Gingrich:
1) He has shown he is more than willing to cave in to the amnesty for illegals idea.
2) He has fallen for aLGore's global warming nonsense and would support some sort of cap and tax legislation.Gingrich, like McCain, is just another old RHINO ... and the Republican party doesn't need his baggage in 2012 to oust Obama.

The election of 2012 might be fun after all. I imagine Colbert and Stewart are salivating at the fodder for jokes they will get from Newt, Palin, etc. They will all make it much easier for Democrats to get out the vote.
Plus we get free entertainment for 18 months. Not bad!

Newt's problem is that same as every other Republican who's been around for more than two years. In a party which tolerates no dissent from it's increasingly lunatic positions, anyone who has ever sounded reasonable is the enemy. I mean, even if Newt is willing to say that Obama is a Muslim and and illegal immigrant and the anti-Christ, etc., he wasn't saying it two years ago. Even if he now hates Mexicans and wants to shoot them all, he didn't advocate that when he was in Congress in the 90's. No matter how you look at it, Newt is just now 'pure' enough the the current dumbed-down Republican Party. He should try running as a Libertarian, if there's any of them left.

Strange how liberals are quick to condemn the failings of a conservative man, when they praise the failings of a liberal man.
But the Catechism of the Catholic Church #1263 states that when one is received into the Catholic Church (he was on 3/29/2009), all your previous sins are forgiven. (By Baptism all sins are forgiven, original sin and all personal sins, as well as all punishment for sin. In those who have been reborn nothing remains that would impede their entry into the Kingdom of God, neither Adam's sin, nor personal sin, nor the consequences of sin, the gravest of which is separation from God.)
God has forgiven him. Can't we?
==========================================
Please doctrine says God will judge you going to the afterlife, not now. The Vatican also said gov't policies that create poverty, spoil the green earth are sinful which makes what Newt proposes sinful. More than the shutdown, I condemn Newt for letting nursing home operators make more coin harming the helpless. His lack of compassion then has not changed with conversion.

OK, since the predictable reminders about Gingrich's unfamiliarity with fidelity have all been played out, how about this character flaw, which is much more important: He has NO regard for the Constitution, the same document the GOP made a dog-n-pony show of last month:
"It’s in the quintessential movie about this city, “Chinatown.” Morty the Mortician turns to Jack Nicholson’s character and says, “Middle of the drought, and the water commissioner drowns. Only in L.A.” Tonight, a real-life equivalent. Middle of a dinner honoring the sanctity of the First Amendment, and the former speaker of the House talks about restricting freedom of speech. Only in the Republican Party....Gingrich was the featured speaker at the annual Nackey S. Loeb First Amendment Award Dinner in Manchester, New Hampshire, Monday night, where he not only argued that campaign finance reform and the separation of church and state should be rethought, because they allegedly hurt the First Amendment, but he also suggested that new rules might be necessary to stop terrorists using freedom of speech to get out their message."
Read on at
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15951435 or search on "Gingrich First Amendment" yourself and get hundreds of thousands of hits demonstrating his fascist approach.
I know I hammer on this issue a lot, but it's important. This {Massengill} has no business being in the White House, where the gist of his pledge, and arguably the President's ONLY responsibility, is to uphold the Constitution. Some more pithy quotes from Herr Doktor:

If there is any justice Newt will run and raise millions from the Wall Street crowd in exchange for his pledge to continue the gravy train if elected.
Then when he finishes fourth or fifth in a few primaries and has wasted that money down a rat hole on consultants, pollsters and media buys he can slink back to his think tank and ask himself what went wrong. Only problem is Newt is always the smarterst guy in the room and he will rationalize that what went wrong was a deficiency of the voters and not his.
This man defines arrogance, hubris and self interest; that comes through when he speaks almost always in a condescending manner and down to his audience. His personnal is the kiss of death for a Presidential candidate and his demise will be exactly what he deserves. He has spent almost thirty years as a spoiler and bomb thrower in politics with nothing but a bruised but still intact ego to show for it. It is time he is assigned to the dust bin of history but let's hope he takes some of the fat cats' money he is going to use to do it.

Gingrich is the bravest lad out their among Republican wannabees: he wants to run to be the President of a Government that he wants to destroy; he wants to go back to those golden frontier days before George Washington got fed up with illiterate anarchists and called out the federal forces to put down the Whiskey Rebellion.
That's where all this started, not just trying to revoke FDR and all federal policy in the 20th Century. What Newt is trying to do, like the Tea Party and the current Republican Party, is to provoke Civil War...they still hate having lost the last one! It is not an accident that this minority Counter Revolution comes when we have our first Black president. It is not a question of incivility or rampant polarization, we are beyond that thanks to hypocritical frauds like Newt: this is Civil War they want. Republicans want. No one else. Gingrich, 2010 (actual quote, Esquire, 2010):
"I wake up in the morning and I know that somewhere there’s a cookie. I don’t know where it is but I know it’s mine and I have to go find it. That’s how I live my life."
And then, if I get tired of the cookie, and find another cookie that I like, I serve divorce papers on the cookie, even if it has cancer.
And if I don't like the nutrition statistics about the cookie, or other facts, I just make new ones up! After all, if you use the right words, and say them right, they're true!
Newt sees himself as a world historical figure. In fact, he's a large child.
"“There’s a large part of me that’s four years old” ~ Newt Gingrich (actual quote, 2010).

Newt could well be one of the very first to enter the Presidential sweepstakes. He certainly has a right to run, even I do. Newt however is the master of reinvention. He is well accomplished at changing his name, his endorsements, remember the New York House race, even his spouses. He is into his third marriage which only means that oaths sacred or constitutional require the problems encountered in marriage one and two should be examined by the voters. Through his third marriage he apparently has changed his faith and and perhaps his outlook on fulfilling vows. He has occasionally broken bread with the President and yet can subtlety use a word like impeachment for a former host. He is certainly capable of shutting down government or deflecting ethics charges. Yet he has a right to run for the office and registered voters maintain their right to vote.
In America's hour of great stress and unlimited potential, imaging and public relations must be relegated to the back seat. Restoration of the American dream will require a holistic candidate this time. I never did agree with the professional basketball player who stated that he was not a role model. In the nation's top executive office, this time his family and vision must be outstanding. Expertise that is the result of flawed and unethical service will not provide the leadership the nation requires. Reinvention of image on the part of Newt and his advisors will be seen as analogous to a chameleon on as crazy quilt attempting to decide which color to turn. Believe it or not even the future first lady will be carefully reviewed on this occasion. The next POTUS AND FLOTUS will have to be authentic and transparent. PR and reinvention will no longer suffice.
Welcome to the race Newt.

He would be only the second Catholic President, but the first married three times.
He would be the only President who had been forced out of Congress while having an affair, while trying to impeach the President, for having an affair.
He wouldn't need campaign matching funds; he'd simply teach an on-line history class and require all students to buy his book.
He'd be the only President who shut down the government as Speaker of the House.
All in all a fantastic choice for these difficult times both internationally and domestically.

Newt Gingrich - a legend in his own mind.
I just love how he told his first wife he wanted a divorce while she was still in the hospital stricken with cancer, cheated on 2nd wife, and now is on 3rd wife and then did video in support of 'traditional marriage'. Newt dumped 2nd wife after cheating on her with the Congressional aide who is now his 3rd wife, and that was occurring while the Republicans spent 40 million on a witch-hunt against Clinton.
Clinton, who provided us with a surplus during his presidency in spite of all the adversity and BS he had to put up with from these dishonest thieves. The Republican congress was demanding tax cuts for the rich and more corporate welfare, and Clinton ignored them. The budget surplus was a result of his REPUDIATING them.
Now we have a president they are treating like their janitor. No wonder Newt's running.
By the way, is it "traditional" for Republican presidential candidates to avoid paying alimony and child support? Because that's what he did. He famously visited his first wife Jackie in the hospital where she was recovering from surgery for uterine cancer to discuss details of the divorce. He later resisted paying alimony and child support for his two daughters, causing a church to take up a collection.
For all of his talk of religious faith and the importance of God, Gingrich left his congregation over the pastor's criticism of his divorce after the collection plate was passed to feed dead-beat Gingrich's children.
That's some "tradition" you Republicans have. A tradition of being not ony hypocrites but dirty liars.
Fiscally prudent my left eye. What did the Republicans do when the got hold of the surplus? Bush tax cuts; an invasion on the premise of "significant quantities from uranium, in Africa" which was obviously not true; corporate welfare, like oil subsidies to the oil industry that was already making money hand-over-fist; no-bid contracts at inflated costs; outmoded weapons while soldiers were sent off to Iraq without protective gear; cronyism and profiteering — remember those missing billions in Iraq?
Of course not, you Republicans don't even remember how we lost over 500,000 jobs in one month alone in December 2008.
So they'll have this white supremesist deadbeat bigoted hack as their presidential candidate. What else is new.
You want to know what else is new? We're all tired of the Gringrich-speak and the crap that's regurgitated from Fox "News". You're done before you even began, Newt.

Dear Newt,
You have disqualified yourself in my eyes as a worthy presidential contender when you pandered to the ethanol interests. There’s nothing good about burning ethanol or ethanol subsidies.
First, burning food crops drives up food costs, especially in the third world where food-price increases are provoking the overthrow of governments by starving people. Second accelerated crop production wrecks the land and consumes precious water resources. Third, there is no net energy output from ethanol production, and when you count the CO2 given off by fermentation, ethanol has double the CO2 output of just directly burning the fossil-fuel production inputs to start with.
Why, even that greedy charlatan Al Gore has finally admitted ethanol subsidies are a bad idea.
Simply put, it’s just one more “green” scam and “green” vote-buying scheme subsidized by deficit spending that further debases our currency. No real conservative will ever endorse ethanol subsidies. If ethanol is an economic energy source, then it would stand on it own; if not, then it’s nothing more than an additional drain on our resources.
Surely you are smart enough and well educated enough to already know and understand the above. That therefore means your pandering is deliberate and mendacious. It means you are not a principled conservative. It means you are not fit to run under the banner of a principled conservative. It means you have no courage because you're willing to pander to get elected, rather than tell the truth and risk not being elected. It means you are not fit to be President.

Palin/Bachmann/Gingrich?Even Huckabee - - - Another President (like GW) who has NO scientific understanding at all? Grounded (and preaching) a narrow religious dogma that condemns all Jews, Muslims etc. to eternal H__L (whatever and wherever that is).

Gingrich has almost no chance at the presidency, slightly better than Palin's nil. Once you look at his infidelity (which is relevant because of his persecution of Clinton for infidelity) and his post-Congress finances he's unelectable. That doesn't even get to some of his crackpot policy statements. But I love watching the no-chancers suck up the Republican oxygen and funding.

Gingrich is a right wing verbal bomb thrower with a demonstrated propensity to behave abominably (can you say ADULTERY?). He considers himself to be an intellectual as he puts on professorial airs. Wealthy right wingers need to put a voice and face to their desire for voters to embrace the notion that wealthy people should be exempt from participating in all American projects except those that make them wealthier. Oh, and while the rest of us are making them wealthier, we get to prop up too-big-to-fail, Republican-led financal institutions to prevent a complete collapse of the American economy. We are reviled for doing that even though the bankers that our government saved are back at work on the next bubble, raking in big money in the meantime. One could posit that wealthy right wingers want to create Germany during the 1920s right here in America. It was a really fine time for fascists to weasel their way into government leadership positions, create a dictatorship, and align government policy with the desires of industrialists. Well, at least it isn't a Communist future we face.

SwellLevel5...I beg to differ. There is a bigger clown on the Republican scene than Newt and her name is Sarah "the biggest clown of all" Palin. Honestly, I think Newt is the smartest and probably the most qualified potential candidate that the Repubs have but the problem as one poster stated, the country would have to get bigger to hold all the baggage he lugs around. Newt was riding high in the 1980s by hanging onto the coattails of a very popular President. He has no real chances of winning a National elective office many years later. He has some minor historical name recognition, but will only succeed in diverting Republican energies from finding a viable candidate, which they still don't have. Obama has certainly been controversial, but many elections are won or lost for both parties simply because they failed to spend time searching for a serious candidate. Right now, it appears the Republicans could take Congress but not the presidency. The last time this happened (during Clinton), there was a huge battle and the President won, hands down.

We need manufacturing jobs and colaboration between schools and manufacturers like never before.Change is constant but Newt has never changed. No vote for Newt here.
