Confiscation of Vatican Funds Upheld. · January 17, 2011
On December 20, 2010 a judge in Rome, Italy has upheld the September seizure of 23 million Euros in Vatican assets in a money-laundering probe involving the Holy See’s bank.
Apparently, the secret workings of the Vatican bank have triggered suspicion about the intended recipients of Vatican money.
“Prosecutors allege the Vatican bank deliberately flouted laws cracking down on money laundering, and suspect clergy might have been front men for corrupt businessmen and mobsters.”
The Vatican says it’s all a “misunderstanding” and contends it can clear up the matter.
Geopolitical involvement implies secretive and often conspiratorial activity. The Vatican is no stranger to such things. It should be no surprise that bank regulators want to look more closely at the Vatican’s financial activities.
The Bible says that the Vatican is working with the “merchants of the earth” to accomplish its purposes. That would include shady organizations and underhanded power brokers.
“For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.” Revelation 18:3.
