They say when the first trooper arrived, he was pushed over a porch railing by the homeowner, who then ran into the house and grabbed a pistol.
Police say the ignored commands to drop the weapon, and the trooper fired. Fifty-one-year-old Jeffrey Yohman was pronounced dead at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. A spokesman for the Greensburg barracks said the trooper was treated for a cut on his head.
District Attorney John Peck, who was called to the scene, declined comment on the shooting. But he said holiday stress may have played a role in the original domestic dispute.
