A Pennsylvania mayor has said no to special rights for homosexuals.
Read more at www.onenewsnow.comOn a 4-3 vote, the Borough of Hatboro adopted the ordinance on November 22. But according to Diane Gramley of the American Family Association of Pennsylvania, that was not the final word.
"On December 6, the mayor took the brave step and vetoed that ordinance, saying that he had listened to the constituents and that the majority who had contacted him did not believe the ordinance was necessary," she explains. "He also noted that he believed such an ordinance should come from the state level and not be a local ordinance."
The family advocate says there will be an attempt to override the veto. "The council voted on [December 6] to have a special meeting on [December 14] to have an override vote," she states.
Gramley believes the key to retaining the veto is for residents, in large numbers, to contact their elected representatives, asking that the ordinance be killed.
