Will the Supreme Court do more damage?

Right now, the Supreme Court of the United States is holding the future of morality and marriage in their hands.

I am very worried about the number of radical pro-homosexual cases the Court is currently considering.

While legislation in Congress is always our first priority, Public Advocate has had to take up numerous Supreme Court battles this year.

I’m sure you’ve heard by now about the ongoing fight over California’s Proposition 8.

Despite overwhelming support and popularity, a federal court of appeals ruled that a legal definition of marriage as one man and one woman is somehow unconstitutional.

And now the ruling is being appealed to the Supreme Court.

Public Advocate has gathered hundreds of thousands of signatures to submit along with an amicus (Friend of the Court) brief in defense of Prop 8 once the Court starts proceedings.

But in just the past few weeks, I have filed two additional amicus briefs to assist in pro-Family battles.

On August 2nd, Public Advocate submitted a brief asking the Courts to hold President Obama accountable for his refusal to enforce the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

It’s been more than a year since he declared that he would change the nation’s laws by presidential decree, yet he has faced no punishment for this illegal action.

Public Advocate has also filled a brief opposing the activist ruling of Massachusetts’s First Circuit Court of Appeals.

The First Court has tried to rule that DOMA is unconstitutional.

Since Massachusetts is one of the handful of states to legalize homosexual “marriage,” the Court argues that this gives them the right to repeal the protection of real marriage at the Federal level.

Of course, the very reason DOMA was enacted in the first place was to give the majority of states a defense against the few who wanted to legalize homosexual “marriage.”

Now, this issue is also before the Supreme Court.

If the Justices uphold the decision against CA’s Prop 8, they will instantly invalidate every single state-level law defining marriage as one man and one woman.

If they uphold the Massachusetts’s ruling, the Justices will strike down DOMA and deprive every single state of their federal protection.

My friend, the fate of our nation is truly hanging in the balance right now.

But I am confident that the amicus briefs Public Advocate has submitted will make a difference.

When the Boy Scouts were forced to defend their moral leadership policy, Public Advocate’s amicus brief played a key role in their victory.

The pro-Family Movement has to remain involved and vigilant to these battles.

We cannot allow Obama to railroad through these decisions as he did with Obamacare.

Sincerely,

Eugene Delgaudio
