Woman accused of driving drunk with 11 kids in vehicle
A 32-year-old woman was arrested over the weekend and accused of driving drunk with 11 children in her vehicle.
The woman admitted drinking alcohol before the rollover crash Saturday afternoon at the 10th St. off ramp from northbound I-43, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department.
Five children in the Dodge Durango were injured when the vehicle struck a barrier wall and landed on its roof. They were taken to Children's Hospital. Their conditions were not known Sunday evening.
The woman failed field sobriety tests and her blood alcohol level was 0.16, twice the legal limit, authorities reported.
The ages of the children were 2 to 17 years old. The driver was the mother of seven of the children. The six uninjured children were released to relatives.
