Around 5:30 p.m., voters at the Pequea Township Building were told to go home and not return for at least two hours. Shortly after that, voters who normally vote at the Pequea Township Building were told to instead go to the Willow Street Fire Company polling location.
After crews determined the package was not harmful, the polling location reopened. That was around 6:30 p.m.
County Commissioner Scott Martin said the incident happened after a constable spotted a cell left in a suspicious location at a suspicious angle. The phone turned out to be OK.
Voting hours at the Pequea Township Building will not be extended. Polls will close as scheduled at 8 p.m.
