Website Lists Some Of Commonly Used Chemicals
Energy giant Halliburton says it is beginning to identify the chemicals in fluids it is pumping into Pennsylvania to extract natural gas.The Halliburton Co. said Monday that it set up a website that provides information on the chemicals it says are in its three most commonly used solutions in Pennsylvania.It says it plans to make similar disclosures for other states where chemicals are being used in the drilling practice called hydraulic fracturing, or fracking.State and federal regulators are increasingly seeking disclosure of the chemicals, particularly in the northeastern United States, where concerns are being expressed over the potential for water pollution.Pennsylvania state regulations to require disclosure could be finalized later this year.Read more at www.wgal.com
