Design On Quilt Outrages One Virginia Councilwoman
A group of high school juniors from Piedmont Governor’s School in Martinsville, VA, were presenting a quilt to the local city council they made as part of a class project when they were interrupted. One member of the council took exception to the quilt's design and stopped the presentation to give the students a lecture on race. Watch the video from the event HERE.

On Sunday, West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin said that he plans to re-introduce a bill to require gun buyers to undergo criminal and mental health background checks for all online and gun show sales. Manchin said he would urge Senate opponents to “read the bill and tell me what you don’t like.” He acknowledged that there was confusion about what was in the failed bill, and said the new version would have to be stripped down and simplified. New York Jets Release QB Tim Tebow 
The New York Jets have released quarteback Tim Tebow after a tumultuous relationship that climaxed in the team refusing to start the popular player even after benching starting QB Mark Sanchez. ESPN reports that the team informed Tebow of the move in a face-to-face meeting early Monday morning when he showed up to work out with teammates. On Saturday, Sun Sports Rays reporter Kelly Nash was at Fenway Park in Boston. During batting practice, she decided to snap a picture of herself at the historic ball field.
