Dear Friends and Family,
The events of the last few days have been
“rapid ones.”
As we have anticipated, and as was mentioned
to you in our last notification, Brother Lucan Chartier submitted himself to
the authorities on July 31st, and is now currently in custody,
serving his sentence alongside Pastor McGill.
Both of these, our beloved brethren, are imprisoned by the United States
civil government at the request of the General Conference Corporation of Seventh-day
Adventists, and on behalf of the individual members, the world-wide
constituency, of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
News reports of this incident may be found at
the following locations online:
While we appreciate your continued efforts to
notify Adventist Church members and whatsoever media outlets you are able about
this present situation, we urge you to use these events as an invitation for self-examination
in light of the soon return of our Master, and the judgment of all
mankind. We have received expressions of
support and sympathy, and for these we wish to express our thanks, for it is
not unspiritual to ask that others “watch and pray” with us. At the same time,
if this is the total effect of the example set by these two stalwart witnesses,
our work will not have perfectly served our Father’s purpose.
Those SDA Church members on whose behalf this
action has taken place have been involved – most against their will and without
their consent – in corporate persecution of Commandment-keeping,
Bible-believing, Spirit-led evangelists, and thus are subject to corporate
accountability for these actions (see Acts, Chapter 2). For the sake of Christian love we fervently
pray for those who maintain official membership in this union of Church and
state to examine their situation with open eyes, not respecting the cost of an
honest evaluation of their standing before Heaven. True-hearted Adventist doctrine teaches, of a
previous incarnation of the Bride of Christ, “When the early church departed
from God and imbibed pagan errors, she became Babylon. When she united with the
state, she fell, and, as an organization, was the body of Christ no longer.” [First
Quarter Sabbath School, Lesson IX, February 29, 1896, p. 33]
We may cite many examples from the works of
Ellen White that demonstrate what it is for a Church to not only teach error,
and “fall into sin,” from which recovery is theoretically possible… but to fall
entirely, to the degree that a calling-out is necessary, essential, for the
work of the Gospel, and the salvation of souls, to proceed:
“But in the very act of enforcing a religious
duty by secular power, the churches would themselves form an image to the beast,”
[Great Controversy p. 449] and “The church appeals to the strong arm of civil
power, and in this work papists and Protestants unite,” [Last Day Events, p.
145, Paragraph 4] are but two.
For those who are outside of the SDA constituency,
we appeal to you also, not to merely be content with an “independent” position,
but to be united with the Protestant Church of Christ in the unity of the
faith, and for the testimony of Yahshua the Messiah. Christ prayed to the Father regarding His
followers, “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in
thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou
hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they
may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be
made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and
hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.” (John 17:21-23)
Never has another such perfect appeal for
Christian unity been heard or read by mortal man. Never before, in the history of the world,
has unity amongst brethren been needed more than this very moment. Christ has given His glory, the very glory
that He shares with the Father, that we may have the strength, and will, and
humility, and courage, to “reason together” and come to one accord before the
fast-approach Day of the Lord.
We invite all who are willing to unite with us
in the protest of the beast and his modern-day image, and in all matters that
pertain to life and godliness. We invite
all who are interested to read through the articles relevant to these matters
posted on the CSDA forum, and to add comments or ask questions as the Spirit
may lead.
