League Releases Congressional 2012 Voter Guide

Dear Member:
During each national election year the League publishes its Congressional Voter Guide.
The League’s Voter Guide allows members and concerned citizens to evaluate their Congressional representatives on key issues.
In the 2012 Voter Guide, the League evaluated every member of Congress on 6 key votes.
These votes included the following legislation:
—Audit the Federal Reserve System (HR 459) Requires a full audit of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
—Repeal Obamacare (Affordable Care Act HR 6079)
Fully repeals the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
—Ryan Budget Plan (H.CON.RES.112) Bill approves the $3.5 trillion budget plan proposed by Rep. Paul Ryan for fiscal year 2013.
—JOBS Act (HR 3606)
Helps small businesses to launch initial public offerings, solicit new investors and eventually hire workers.
—National Defense Authorization Act (HR 4310)
Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funds for fiscal year 2013 for military activities of the Department of Defense, and for other purposes.
—Protect Life Act (HR 358) This bill would repeal and/or correct all of the pro-abortion components of Public Law 111-148 (ObamaCare) and would prohibit any ObamaCare program from paying for elective abortion or health plans that cover elective abortion.
All of these proposed laws represent the concerns and interests of the League of American Voters, which is the nation’s leading nonpartisan voters organization.
The League seeks to protect America’s free enterprise system, limit the role of government in the private sector, promote economic opportunity and fiscal responsibility, promote government accountability, keep the nation’s defenses strong, and protect American values, especially those that promote human life.

Michelle Obama Tweets ‘Imagine What Barack Could Do With 4 More Years’

Can YOU imagine 4 more years of Obama?

Michelle Obama took to Twitter on Sunday evening to tout her husband’s first-term achievements. Accompanying a message praising all that President Barack Obama has achieved over the past four years, she implored her followers to “imagine what he can do in twice that time.”

Just imagine four more years….

Along with her message was a link to a campaign video that, in detail, highlights the president’s first-term actions. The video, entitled, “A Very Quick Look at President Obama’s First Term,” features the fast-talking, rapid speech deliverer John Moschitta, Jr. (a well-known spokesperson).

Throughout the ad, Moschitta touts Obama, mentioning health care, credit card and student loan reform, the auto bailout and a plethora of other policy moves.

While another Obama term will certainly appeal to progressives who would like, more than anything, to see another four years of left-leaning policies, conservatives abhor the thought (and are conversely horrified by the prospect of four more years of left-of-center governance).

Advertising the clip, the First Lady’s Tweet reads, “If this is what the President can do in 4 years, imagine what he can do in twice the time.”

In the video, Moschitta mirror’s Michelle Obama’s claim, saying, “If this is what this guy can do in four years, imagine what he can do in twice the time.” Watch it, below.

Christian Right putting politics before God

Stephen Prothero writes for CNN belief blog:

Voting booth
Why are evangelicals like Billy Graham and Ralph Reed stumping for Mitt Romney? And why are roughly three-quarters of white evangelicals inclined to vote for him?

Because politics matters more to them than religion. . . .

Until quite recently, many evangelicals saw Mormonism as a dangerous cult spreading false theology and dooming its followers to hell. In fact, only after Romney showed up for a meet and greet with Billy Graham in North Carolina earlier this month did the website of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association erase a reference to Mormonism as a “cult.” . . .

Ralph Reed, too, is forsaking his theology for his politics, mobilizing his Atlanta-based Faith and Freedom Coalition to place voter guides in Ohio churches in the run-up to election day.

I am old enough to remember when the main purpose of Reed’s Christian Coalition and other groups on the religious right was to put born-again Christians in the Congress, the White House, and the Supreme Court. And for decades those who were running those groups saw Mormons as non-Christians. . . .

I used to believe that the purpose of the religious right was to infuse American politics with Christian politicians and Christian politics. I no longer believe that. The purpose of the religious right is to use the Christian God for political purposes. Why any Christian, conservative or liberal, can say “Amen” to that is beyond me.

I am perfectly happy to see Reed stump for Romney in Ohio and Graham plump for Romney in an ad in The Wall Street Journal. Just don’t tell me they are doing so as Christians. They are doing so as shills for the GOP.

It's coming down to the wire

Public
Advocate Banner

The fight for marriage is coming down to the wire.

Polls across the country show that pro-homosexual support is roughly tied with support for real marriage.

Maine, Maryland, Washington and Minnesota are all facing critical decisions on the future of real marriage.

That’s why Public Advocate Battleground Action Initiative is so important.

Right now your Public Advocate is running pro-family and pro-marriage internet ads in all 4 states facing marriage referendums and 6 other pro-family battleground states -- 10 states total.

Since the beginning of Public Advocate’s Initiative the Homosexual Lobby has been steadily losing ground in each fight.

Our ads have already been seen almost 16 MILLION times!

The original goal of the program was 10 Million ads -- but we have already blown way past that.

That’s why I am doubling our targeted goal to 20 MILLION banners.

20 Million views across 10 states, and it’s only possible because of the support you and thousands of other pro-family activists have given.

Past fights have proven that this kind of direct, targeted alert can have a major effect in state level decisions.

I know that in the time remaining we can secure victory for the Family.

You can click here to see some of the education ads we are running in the battleground states.

For the Family,

Eugene Delgaudio
President, Public Advocate of the United States
