The Bloody History of Papal Rome - A Timeline

The Bloody History of Papal Rome - A Timeline

In 1940, French statesman Baron DePonnat stated “Roman Catholicism was born in blood, has wallowed in blood, and has quenched its thirst in blood, and it is in letters of blood that its true history is written.” Indeed, the history of papal Rome has been one of brutal torture, slaughter, and mass murder. The below list provides a sampling of papal Rome’s bloody history.

1096 Roman Catholic crusaders slaughter half the Jews in Worms, Germany.

1098 Roman Catholic crusaders slaughter almost all of the inhabitants of the city of Antioch.

1099 Roman Catholic crusaders massacre 70,000 Muslims and Jews when they capture Jerusalem.

1208 – 1226 The Albigensian Crusades in southern France. Roman Catholic crusaders slaughter   approximately 20,000 citizens of Beziers, France on July 22, 1209. Both Albigensian Christians and Catholics were slain. By the time the Roman Catholic armies finished their “crusade,” almost the entire population of southern France (mostly Albigensian Christians) has been exterminated. During the six centuries of papal Inquisition that began in the 13th century, up to 50 million people were killed.

1236 Roman Catholic crusaders slaughter Jews in the Anjou and Poitou regions of western France. The Catholic crusaders trample to death under their horses 3000 Jews who refuse baptism.

1243 Roman Catholic mobs burn alive all the Jews in Berlitz, Germany (near Berlin).

1298 Roman Catholic mobs burn alive all Jews in Rottingen, Germany.

April 26, 1349 Roman Catholic mobs burn to death all Jews in Germersheim, Germany.

1348 – 1349 The Jews are blamed for the bubonic plague. Author Dave Hunt tells us, “Accused of causing the ‘Black Death’ Jews were rounded up [by Roman Catholic mobs] and hanged, burned, and drowned by the thousands in revenge.”

1389 Roman Catholic mobs murder 3000 Jews in Prague when they refuse to be baptized.

1481 – 1483 At the direction of the Roman Catholic inquisitors, authorities  burn at the stake at least 2000 people during the first two years of the Spanish Inquisition.

1540 – 1570 Roman Catholic armies butcher at least 900,000 Waldensian Christians of all ages during this 30-year period.

1550 – 1560 Roman Catholic troops slaughter at least 250,000 Dutch Protestants via torture, hanging, and burning during this ten-year period.

1553 – 1558 Roman Catholic Queen Mary I of England (aka “bloody Mary”) attempts to bring England back  under the yoke of papal tyranny. During her reign, approximately 200 men and woman are burned to death at the sake. Her victims include bishops, scholars, and other Protestant leaders.

1572 St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre. French Roman Catholic soldiers begin killing Protestants in Paris on the night of August 24, 1572. The soldiers kill at least 10,000 Protestants during the first three days. At least 8000 more Protestants are killed as the slaughter spreads to the countryside.

1618 – 1648 The Thirty Years’ War. This bloody, religious war is planned, instigated, and orchestrated by the Roman Catholic Jesuit order and its agents in an attempt to exterminate all the Protestants in Europe. Many countries in central Europe lose up to half their population.

1641 –  1649 Eight years of Jesuit-instigated Roman Catholic butchery of Irish Protestants claims the lives of at least 100,000 Protestants.

1685  French Roman Catholic soldiers slaughter approximately 500,000 French Protestant Huguenots on the orders of Roman Catholic King Louis 14 of France.

Circa 1938 –  1945 Catholic dictators such as Adolf Hitler and Monsignor Tiso slaughter approximately six million Jews in Europe prior to and during World War 2.

1941 – 1945 The Roman Catholic Ustashi in the fascist state of Croatia butcher up to one million Serbian Orthodox Christians. Roman Catholic killer squads are often led by Franciscan priests, monks, and friars. This genocide is choreographed by two Jesuit prelates: Aloysius Stepinac and Ivan Saric.

A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing? The New Superior General

The New Superior General

A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing?

ADOLFSO

A little over a year ago, Father Adolfo Nicolás, a Spanish priest and missionary to Asia, was elected the new Superior General of the Jesuits.

A Time article notes that Nicolás, also known as the “black pope,” holds a “lifetime posting” that “has sway over a network of priests, universities, hospitals and other missionary institutions around the globe.”i Time also states that “...the rest of the Church never allowed a Jesuit to be elected to the real papacy for fear of concentrating too much power in the hands of the order.”ii

What Time doesn’t mention is the incredible global power that the Jesuits already hold. According to historian Dave Hunt, “The Pope has thousands of secret agents worldwide. They include Jesuits, the Knights of Columbus, Knights of Malta, Opus Dei, and others.” Jesuits aim at universal dominion. They have rendered themselves indispensable to the Pope and to U.S. governors. They hold revolutions in their hands, and, as it was written by Luigi Descantis in 1865, “it is they who rule the world.”iii

Given the Jesuits’ dominion, how powerful is their Superior General? In 1720, Michael Angelo Tamburini, then General of the Jesuits, said to the Duke of Brancas, “See, my lord, from this room—from this room I govern not only Paris, but China: not only China, but the whole world, without any one knowing how ‘tis managed.”iv
A conversation with Father Nicolás shows him open, humble, self-effacing, and approachable.v However, being a nice guy isn’t the equivalent of being a Christian. Jesus says that not everyone who says “Lord, Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 7:21).

Note these worrisome aspects of Father Nicolás’ theology:

1.Evangelism

ADOLFSO
Father Nicolás’ view of evangelism doesn’t involve conversion. Describing the attitude of St. Francis Xavier (a 16th century Catholic priest) toward a Buddhist monk, Nicolás says, “Xavier did not go there to convince him to become a Christian; he went there to tell him: ‘Look...your life is not good. You have to help people to become better.’ And that’s a tremendous insight into how God works in other people, even in a Buddhist monk.”vi

Nicolás believes evangelism is more about encouraging people to “be good” than about sharing Jesus with them.

2.Allegiance to the Pope.

Historically, Jesuit Generals support the Pope as father of the faithful. Total commitment to the Pope is exercised through the Jesuits’ use of St. Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises:

...to take an irrevocable vow of obedience, - the obedience of the dead body, which has no will and no motion of its own...The obedience goes...to the Pope; and when the Pope says that black is white, and white black, it is the great moral glory, of the order that it is able to repeat the lie...vii
Submission to human authority separates the Jesuit from the true Protestant. While the Bible believer recognizes the truth in God’s Word, the Jesuit is tied to ecclesiastical traditions.

3.Liberation Theology

This theology, which began in impoverished areas of South America, states that the Church should come alongside the working class to bring social change.viii

According to BBC, “The movement was caricatured in the phrase ‘If Jesus Christ were on Earth today, he would be a Marxist revolutionary.’”ix If indeed liberation theology is communist in nature, we should see communism and fascism apparent in its mandates and encyclicals. And indeed we do. In a future report, we will investigate Roman Catholic economic thought and its parallels with fascism.

In the 1980s, Liberation Theology “was blasted as a ‘fundamental threat’ to the church by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who has now become Pope Benedict XVI.”x Despite this, Father Nicolás said in an interview that Liberation Theology “is a courageous and creative response to an unbearable situation of injustice in Latin America” and “it needs years to mature.”xi

So how much of this supposed tension between the opinions of Nicolás and Ratzinger is really just a smoke screen? This is an intriguing contradiction—Jesuits claim to obey the Pope, but the Jesuit Superior General wants to give a papacy-condemned theology “years to mature.”

Conclusion

Should the free world be concerned over the Jesuit organization? A recent article in the National Catholic Reporter reveals that “...a whopping 52 members of the 111th Congress...are alumni of [Catholic]...institutions...Of the 52 alumni, 34 received graduate or professional degrees from Jesuit universities…”xii With their allegiance squarely with the Pope, these Jesuit “soldiers” are responsible, at least in part, for shaping the economic and political thought of the United States—one of the mightiest nations in the world.

Like his predecessors, the new Superior General is a powerful [and dangerous] man to whom even the Pope is subject.xiii The black pope, who today is Father Adolfo Nicolás, is Ratzinger’s confessor. “The Pope’s confessor, an ordinary priest, must be a Jesuit: he must visit the Vatican once a week at a fixed time, and he alone may absolve the Pope of his sins.”xiv

The next few years will reveal more of the papacy’s plans as they are brought to fruition. “Watch ye therefore, and pray always” Luke 21:36 KJV.

The RESIST Story: This is the story about Marie Durand

The RESIST Story
This is the story about Marie Durand
Marie Durand - the Tour of Constance

The
year was 1730 and it was a dangerous time to be in France. Fifty
years before, the Edict of Nantes guaranteeing freedom of religion to
Huguenots had been revoked and Roman Catholicism had been reinstated
as the only authorized religion. Protestant worship and education
were expressly forbidden. Thousands had already fled France to seek
freedom and peace in a new distant land. Most had made the long and
arduous journey south across the Mediterranean to the tip of Africa
settling in Cape Town. But many were not able to leave France. Those
that stayed had two options: give up their faith or face the
penalties imposed for practicing their faith - imprisonment, death,
or life as a galley slave.

Before
the Edict of Nantes, Protestantism had flourished. French reformers
such as Louis De Berquin, Gaspard de Coligny, and Jacques Lefevre had
preached reforms, translated the Bible into the French language and
upheld the Word of God as the sole authority. But after the Edict of
Nantes was revoked, France lost thousands of intelligent and educated
citizens as they left France for a country of freedom. Those that
remained, were exterminated.

The
Protestants named the times they lived in as the `Desert`. In the
history of French Protestantism, the expression `Desert` defines the
period of time between the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes (1685)
and the French Revolution (1789). It was during this ‘desert’
period that the Protestants of France were deprived of freedom of
worship, meeting far from cities, hidden in isolated areas, deserts
(in the wilderness, forests, caves, or gullies…), where they
were obligated to live out their faith in hiding. The `desert` title
was a reference to the church in the wilderness described in
Revelation 12:6.

The
word ‘Desert’ also had a Biblical sense for them, the 40
years the Hebrew people of Exodus wandered in the desert, a place of
tribulations, temptations and despair, but also where they would hear
the word of the Lord.

Life
was not easy. Huguenot families that chose to stay in France lived a
life of secrecy, their homes equipped with hiding places for the
family Bible and even family members, their children raised with
danger and uncertainty constantly hanging over them threatening their
future. The king of France pursued with relentless focus the
eradication of the Protestant heretics. It was into this perilous
time that Marie Durand was born in 1715. Marie`s family chose not to
give up their beliefs even if it meant practicing their religion in
secret and living in constant peril.

When
Marie was a young girl, her mother, Claudine, was arrested after
attending a secret Protestant service and died shortly thereafter.
Marie`s older brother, Pierre, became one of the `pastors of the
desert`. These men preached in open fields, caves, and homes to those
in exile and in hiding, who continued in defiance of the restrictions
placed on them by the French monarchy.

Pierre
Durand was wanted by the government for his subversive activity.
Unable to lay hands on Pierre, officials arrested Marie`s father in
1728. Before he was taken to prison, Ėtienne Durand married his
young daughter at the age of 13 to Matthew Seres, hoping that she
would be protected by this move. The plan failed when in 1730, at the
age of fifteen, Marie Durand was arrested and taken from her home in
Bouchet-de-Pransles to the Tower of Constance to be used as bait to
capture her Protestant brother. Her husband, Matthew was soon
imprisoned along with her father in the fort. Pierre was told that if
he gave himself in, his sister and father would be freed. In 1732,
Pierre was captured and hanged.

The
Tower of Constance, located on swampy land near the Rhone River and
not far from the Mediterranean Sea, was built by Duke Philip the
Bold, its architecture designed to imitate Jerusalem architecture.
The stronghold also served as a lighthouse, with a lantern in the
top-most tower, and was known as `the beacon of Charlemagne`. During
the French Civil Wars between the Protestants and Catholics following
the Reformation, the tower had fallen into Protestant control But in
1632, Louis XIII regained control of it. King Louis XIV then
converted it into a women`s prison.

The
prisoners were kept in the upper room. A little light and air came
through narrow windows. In the center of the floor was an opening
onto the guardroom below. When Marie entered the Tower - which was
always cold in Winter and hot in summer - she brought her courageous
sunny disposition. Her faith would lighten the darkness and despair
within.

Despite
her tender youth, Marie became the Christian focal point of the Tower
and an encouragement to the other women with whom she was imprisoned.
For 38 years, Marie served as nurse and spiritual leader. She read
psalms, encouraged the dying, sang hymns, and prayed daily. She also
acted as official correspondant, penning letters for those who could
not write, and sending petitions to government officials informing
them of the prison`s horrible conditions and petitioning for release
and assistance. Many of her letters still exist today. Marie never
wavered in her strength or faith.

In
1767, Prince de Beauveau, the governor of Languedo, horrified by the
conditions the women endured inside the Tower of Constance, ordered
their release against the will of Louis XV, and in 1767 Marie and her
fellow captives began a new life outside the tower walls.

Marie
returned to her family home as the sole survivor of the attack
mounted against her faith and family. Her father and husband had long
been executed. She herself died in 1776, after only 9 years of
freedom outside the Tower.

Marie Durand - ResistWhat
would make a girl, only 15, hold so tenaciously to her faith and
resist the pressure and temptation to recant and have a normal life
outside the walls of the Tower? All she was required to do by the
Catholic authorities was to recant her Reformed faith. Many did so,
and immediately went back to their Reformed faith, but Marie would
not be dishonest. At any time, she could have given up her faith for
a life of sunshine, green grass, hygiene, better food, activity,
friendship, and possibly a new marriage and children. Instead she
scratched the word “Resist” into the stone walls of a
Tower to remind her and all those with her that staying there was of
more value than the advantages outside.

How
many of us hold enough to our faith and beliefs to do the same?
Islamic fundamentalists seem to have a faith that doesn’t
falter even in the face of a fiery death. Do we have the
tenaciousness and conviction to hang on even if everything is taken
from us even for the better part of our lives?

Our
society is not geared for that kind of sacrifice. We live in a world
of instant gratification - microwaves, fast foods, credit cards. We
wear clothes to fit in, and are upset when someone cuts us off in
traffic on our way to work or shopping. There are few limits we
experience in our country of freedom. As long as we don’t cheat
on our taxes, don’t steal from vendors, show up at our job, and
obey the traffic signs, we are free to do as we like.

But
do we value our freedom? Are we using our time to work for the Lord
and are we spending our resources to further His work? Now, as the
last golden rays of sunshine slip over the horizon of our earth’s
long and tortured history, we still have a few moments in which to
share our faith in freedom. We should not miss the opportunity. The
work we have neglected to do in a time of prosperity, we will have to
do under great trial and peril. What costs us little now, will
someday cost us our very lives. Let us not shame the legacy of those
that have gone before us and given their lives. Can we do any less in
these last moments of history?

I
pray not.

The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse

By Jack Wellman |

Have you ever puzzled over the Book of Revelation? Is it an enigma to you?  From my understanding, it is not written in chronological order, like parts of the Old Testament.  For example, the Book of Job would better be placed, chronologically, inside the Book of Genesis.

For one thing, the Book of Revelation was not written by the Apostle John, any more than my hands have written this article.  I am the author of this article, not my word processor, just as John is not the real author of the Book of Revelation; Jesus is. John simply wrote down what he was told to by Jesus.  It is called the Revelation of Jesus Christ, not the Revelation of the Apostle John.

What are the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse anyway? Is there any place that Jesus speaks of these outside of the Book of Revelation?  Jesus’ Olivet Prophecy in Matthew 24 is actually in the same order that the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse is revealed in Revelation.  Don’t take my word for it.  I am simply a human being with finite knowledge.  Why don’t we instead, let Jesus show us what these Four Horsemen mean and in the order that they come in?  If Jesus tells us, we know it is right.  He does tell us in both the Book of Revelation, Chapter Six and in the Gospel of Matthew in Chapter 24. And the Book of Revelation speaks of the horses as beasts.

The White Horse

Revelation Chapter 6 and Matthew 24 are parallels of the Four Horsemen and each one represents what is to come.

In verse two of Revelation 6, we read, “And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given to him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. “ In Matthew 24:4-6 Jesus warns us that many false prophets will come and proclaim to be Jesus, as He says, “…Take heed that no man deceives you.  For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am Christ'; and will deceive many.  And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not troubled; for all of these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” Jesus warns us that many false prophets will come and proclaim to be Jesus.  That has been happening for many years now. So the white horse represents false messiahs and false Christs.  There have never been more false shepherds than there are today.  Some today claim that they are modern day Apostles and even call themselves by this title. Others proclaim they are prophets.  A few on the extreme side even say that they are Jesus Christ.  So the white horse represents false ministers proclaiming false gospels.  These abound on television.

The Red Horse

In Revelation 6:3-4, Jesus mentions the Red Horse: “When the Lamb [Jesus Christ] opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a huge sword.” Matthew 24’s parallel is in verse six and into verse seven as Jesus says, “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:” In the 20th century, wars were more widespread than ever before in the history of mankind, and these wars are only going to increase as we approach the return of Christ. But as Jesus said, “…the end is not yet“, meaning it will get worse.

The Black Horse

Famine usually follows periods of wars. In Revelation 6:5-6, “And I beheld, and lo, a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, a measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see that you do not hurt the oil and wine.” A penny then bought considerably more than today. The implication is that there will be widespread food shortages and that the price of food will increase exponentially.  In Matthew 24:7, the parallel is “…and there will be famines.”  Famines include food shortages which often occur after wars and food shortages will make food very expensive.  The reference to the pair of balances held by the rider of the black horse indicates that the rider has control over the scales and, apparently, the price of foods.  Measures of wheat and barely cost more than most people can afford at this time.

The Pale Horse

After widespread famine, death will naturally follow.  Revelation 6:7-8 reads, “And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given to them over the fourth part of the earth to kill with sward, and with hunger and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.”  The Greek word for pale is the same as “ashen“, “pale green“ or “yellowish green“, which is indicative of the sickly pallor of a corpse. The word “hell” in Revelation Chapter Six and verse eight actually means Hades or better translated as grave. The parallel in Matthew 24 is the second part of verse seven which followed the wars, or the black horse, talks of “pestilences."  Pestilences are usually a fatal epidemic disease, particularly the bubonic plague.

Interestingly, right after the Horsemen are mentioned, Jesus says that these are “All the beginning of sorrows. Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you will be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will be offended, and will betray one another, and will hate one another (Matt. 24:8-10).  Hauntingly close to these verses are those verses in Revelation that come directly after the Horsemen are mentioned as it says, “And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were killed for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: (Rev. 6:9).”

Before the Great Tribulation begins is the time to warn people to repent.  The time to tell people about Christ is before these things happen; that is today, right now, while there is still time.  The Good News is that Jesus has promised that those who come to him now will be eternally secure, saying “For all that the Father gives me will come to me, and him that comes to me I will in no way cast out (John 6:37).” Even more reassuring is Jesus saying to those who come to Him today, “And I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither will anyone pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand (John 10:28-29).”  Then you won’t have to worry about the Four Horsemen, except maybe to warn your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers.

Interested in doing God’s work full time? Some insights on self-supporting work

Amplify’d from www.presentruth.com

There is a large field open before the self-supporting gospel worker. Many may gain valuable experiences in ministry while toiling a portion of the time at some form of manual labor, and by this method strong workers may be developed for important service in needy fields.

The self-sacrificing servant of God who labors untiringly in word and doctrine, carries on his heart a heavy burden. He does not measure his work by hours. His wages do not influence him in his labor, nor is he turned from his duty because of unfavorable conditions. From heaven he received his commission, and to heaven he looks for his recompense when the work entrusted to him is done.

It is God’s design that such workers shall be freed from unnecessary anxiety, that they may have full opportunity to obey the injunction of Paul to Timothy, “Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them.” 1 Timothy 4:15. While they should be careful to exercise sufficiently to keep mind and body vigorous, yet it is not God’s plan that they should be compelled to spend a large part of their time at secular employment.

These faithful workers, though willing to spend and be spent for the gospel, are not exempt from temptation. When hampered and burdened with anxiety because of a failure on the part of the church to give them proper financial support, some are fiercely beset by the tempter. When they see their labors so lightly prized, they become depressed. True, they look forward to the time of the judgment for their just award, and this buoys them up; but meanwhile their families must have food and clothing. If they could feel that they were released from their divine commission they would willingly labor with their hands. But they realize that their time belongs to God, notwithstanding the shortsightedness of those who should provide them with sufficient funds. They rise above the temptation to enter into pursuits by which they could soon place themselves beyond the reach of want, and they continue to labor for the advancement of the cause that is dearer to them than life itself. In order to do this, they may, however, be forced to follow the example of Paul and engage for a time in manual labor while continuing to carry forward their ministerial work. This they do to advance not their own interests, but the interests of God’s cause in the earth.

There are times when it seems to the servant of God impossible to do the work necessary to be done, because of the lack of means to carry on a strong, solid work. Some are fearful that with the facilities at their command they cannot do all that they feel it their duty to do. But if they advance in faith, the salvation of God will be revealed, and prosperity will attend their efforts. He who has bidden His followers go into all parts of the world will sustain every laborer who in obedience to His command seeks to proclaim His message.

In the upbuilding of His work the Lord does not always make everything plain before His servants. He sometimes tries the confidence of His people by bringing about circumstances which compel them to move forward in faith. Often He brings them into strait and trying places, and bids them advance when their feet seem to be touching the waters of Jordan. It is at such times, when the prayers of His servants ascend to Him in earnest faith, that God opens the way before them and brings them out into a large place.

When God’s messengers recognize their responsibilities toward the needy portions of the Lord’s vineyard, and in the spirit of the Master Worker labor untiringly for the conversion of souls, the angels of God will prepare the way before them, and the means necessary for the carrying forward of the work will be provided. Those who are enlightened will give freely to support the work done in their behalf. They will respond liberally to every call for help, and the Spirit of God will move upon their hearts to sustain the Lord’s cause not only in the home fields, but in the regions beyond. Thus strength will come to the working forces in other places, and the work of the Lord will advance in His own appointed way.

Grandma Mary Apparition To Be Validated By Papacy

By Greg Szymanski, JD

Dec. 3, 2010

Senior citizens around the globe are rejoicing over latest talks the Vatican will be unveiling a new religious icon just for them.

The Vatican announced in the Italian newspaper, La Republica, it would be only a matter of days before it officially validated the first and only “Grandma Mary” apparition in the history of recorded civilization.

It appears, according to the Italian press, Mother Mary’s mama feels a trifle bit slighted by her daughter’s worldly fame and fortune, wanting a piece of the ‘salvation action’ for herself.

La Republica reported “Grandma Mary” appeared last September 13, 2009, to three 90-year-old seniors while the trio was playing a game of Canasta in a New Jersey nursing home.

The miraculous event, say Papal officials, has been kept a virtual secret in fear seniors all around the globe might get overly excited and die from hyperventilation or sudden heart failure.

According to reports, “Grandma Mary” told the “New Jersey Three” that it “was about time I received some credit for the part I played because if it wasn’t for me that big shot daughter of mine, Mary, wouldn’t even be here.”

“It’s great to see that the man gods in the Vatican are finally thinking of the forgotten old people in the world,” said Leroy Brown, spokesman for the one of the largest senior centers located on the south side of Chicago.

“Since Vatican II, the focus has been on stepped-up religious rap and rock music for the kids and Mother Mary sitings for the poor and middle class working families. Now, finally, the Vatican has made-up something for us older folk.”

Brown’s comments were made in reference to recent stories circulating in Rome about the first “Grandma Mary” siting in the history of the Roman Catholic Church to be validated by Papal authorities.

“What makes this such an extraordinary event is that this is the first such “Grandma Mary” siting in the history of civilization,” said a Cardinal in Rome’s inner-sanctum, who wanted to remain anonymous until the Papacy officially recognizes the miraculous event.

“This is truly an historic occasion and all Christians should rejoice because word has it “Grandma Mary has actually come down to earth to represent the forgotten old people who are suffering tremendously from the loss of social security benefits, rampant foreclosures and a complete lack of respect by a younger generation, as well as by Henry Kissinger, who considers seniors to be nothing more then useless eaters.”

Grandma Mary’s sudden earthly appearance apparently even shook up Pope Ratzinger’s world since those close to him know he is very partial to younger girls and boys.

According to a Vatican Cardinal, Ratzinger was overheard saying:

“I told that old hag to stay up in heaven or purgatory or wherever she is. How can we expect to make someone that old and wrinkly look good on all the statutes and pictures we will have to create, distribute and of course pay for.”

Conceding the world-wide advertising campaign will cost the Vatican millions, Vatican officials are already actively consulting Hollywood for ideas on how to give “Grandma Mary” a quick face-lift before her pictures and statutes are released to the public.

“I think this is a great opportunity for the Vatican and Hollywood to again join forces and work together, using the wonderful imaginations of both organizations to create the perfect “Grandma Mary,” said a high level Jesuit who works in the Vatican’s film propaganda offices.

“However, let’s not forget before all the hype and glitter takes over and mesmerizes the public that “Grandma Mary” has come down to earth with a very important message for all of mankind.”

Vatican officials added that just like in Fatima, her message will be revealed when the Papacy deems it appropriate, giving Inquisition Officers enough time to do their necessary work on the “New Jersey Three.”

Reports suggest two of the three seniors, because of their advanced age, are already having a hard time even remembering the apparition took place, but the Vatican is sure some of their old torture techniques will jog their failing memories.

“I am sure just like the children at Fatima and Medjugorje, the seniors will eventually say what we want them to say,” said one of the Inquisition officers.

Apparently, before going public with “Grandma Mary’s” apparition, the Vatican has another big hurdle to cross since reports are that Mary herself refuses to be photographed with her Mother.

Mary, who has supposedly talked personally before with several Popes, including Pope Leo XIII in 1884, Pope Pius XII at various stages during his papacy and Pope John Paul II in 1981, while he recovered from an assassination attempt which occurred on May 13, the anniversary of the Fatima apparition.

Although reports remain unconfirmed, Mary has already met privately with the Pope.

“We must do something about my mother,” said Mary to Ratzinger, who is desperately trying to repair this mother-daughter rift so as not to upset his 1 billion followers who so much love the fanciful approach to Christianity as presented by the Papacy.

“I want you to know Grandma has no business coming down here taking away my limelight. You guys have been pretty good at keeping her out of the picture until now, but this is just too much even for me to take.

“We had our problems when I was growing up, but isn’t this just typical of a Jewish mother? It took her a long time to believe the virgin birth story in the first place, always accusing me of cheating on Joseph and now she wants to let bygones be bygones.

“Well, I am not going to stand for it and want you to do something about it. I wasn’t made patron saint of the United States for nothing, was I? And if you don’t do something I have the mind to just go to the Supreme Court!”

Details of “Grandma Mary’s” New Jersey apparition are soon to be released, according to Vatican officials. They added that a full-length Hollywood blockbuster is also in the works.

Further, young artists are being solicited and commissioned like in the Renaissance to present portraits and sculptures of “Grandma Mary” with the winners expected to be announced in the spring.

Editor’s Note: This story has been validated by my good friend, Slats Grobnik, who is spending the Christmas holidays worshiping it with some of his pagan-priest friends in Rome. He promises to bring the behind the scenes pagan-Christmas ceremonies directly to us from the catacombs of the Vatican, where on the agenda this year is some delightful holiday cheer, including brand new witchcraft techniques and how to utilize them in church service throughout the year.

Lawyer: York police should take video brutality accusation seriously

A video, uploaded Sunday to Youtube, appears to show a man being arrested. Police are investigating.

Daily Record/Sunday News
Alfredo Montanez Jr.

York, PA -
The video is shaky, apparently recorded in the early morning hours on a city street illuminated only by streetlights and the headlights and flashing lights of police cars.

In the video, it appears that nine York City Police officers are taking a suspect into custody. At one point, the suspect, hands cuffed behind his back, turns away from the camera and something happens.

"It's clear to me," said Clarence Allen, the York attorney representing the suspect in the video, former state boxing champ Alfredo Montanez Jr.

What's clear to Allen is that the police officer "violently" struck Montanez while the suspect's hands were handcuffed behind his back.

The video, posted on YouTube, has spread through York and has caused tensions to flare between police and the community, Allen said. He called a news conference Friday morning to call for a complete and impartial investigation to diffuse those tensions.

"Don't give me a whitewashed investigation," Allen said. "Don't pour water on me and tell me it's raining. Don't bring in some expert and pay him a million dollars to say what I see on that tape didn't happen and was an optical illusion."

This is the video posted Sunday on Youtube. The poster, "amonie212," titled the video "police brutality."

York City Police Chief Wes Kahley said Thursday that police "really don't know what happened at this point" and are investigating. He added police would like to obtain a better copy of the video from the person who recorded it.

Efforts to reach Kahley for further comment Friday were unsuccessful.

The video depicts Montanez's arrest Aug. 6 in the 700 block of East Market Street.

Police had received a call about a man with a gun outside a bar in the same block at 2:22 a.m. When an officer pulled up to Market and Sherman streets, he spotted a man who matched the description provided by the dispatcher walking west on Market Street, police said.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Montanez ran and the police officer, accompanied by three other officers who had arrived about the same time, gave chase. When he was cut off by the police car, Montanez slipped and fell. A gun that had been in the waistband of his pants fell to the pavement as three officers wrestled him to the ground, according to the affidavit. The gun had been reported stolen in Springettsbury Township in June, police said.

The affidavit states that Montanez resisted arrest and yelled, "It's not my gun! It's not my gun!"

At that point, according to the affidavit, an officer stunned Montanez with a Taser, and he was taken into custody. When police searched Montanez, they found a small rock of what appeared to be crack cocaine in his pocket, along with a small packet containing marijuana, according to court documents.

Montanez, 27, was charged with receiving stolen property, illegal possession of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, resisting arrest and possession of crack and marijuana. He was placed in York County Prison, where he remains, in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Montanez - who boxed under the nickname "The Tornado" and was, at one time, ranked 10th in the nation - is no stranger to police. He has a criminal history that includes drug charges, according to court records.

In 2008, a York County grand jury indicted him in the Sept. 26, 2004, killing of 16-year-old Bart Rohrbaugh Jr., who was gunned down about 11:40 p.m. near Pine and Walnut streets in York, less than a block from his home. Those charges were dismissed in 2009 for lack of evidence.

Allen said the current charges Montanez faces, and the history, is irrelevant to the investigation into the video.

"What's relevant is that this person was arrested on those charges and this person was struck violently while his hands were handcuffed behind his back for no reason at all," Allen said.

Allen said the video came to his attention Tuesday and he immediately turned it over to York County District Attorney Tom Kearney who, in turn, referred the case to York City Police. Allen said he hoped the state police internal affairs division would investigate the matter.

Allen also said he hoped the officers involved in Montanez's arrest would come forward and publicly tell what happened that morning. He said police often ask members of the public to come forward when they are conducting investigations and that it is only fair to expect police to do the same during a probe of such public importance.

As a criminal defense attorney, Allen said, he has had a number of clients over the years allege police had struck or beaten them. When this case surfaced, he said, some of those clients called him to say, "I told you this happened."

The York City Human Relations Commission has also received a number of similar calls, executive director Stephanie Seaton said.

"Obviously," she said, "there have been tensions in the community regarding the York City Police Department."

York City Police Chief Wes Kahley said the video was sent to police Monday.

"We really don't know what happened at this point," he said. "We're investigating the allegation and interviewing the people we need to interview to determine what actually took place."

Kahley said that the video needs to be "cleaned up" to get a better look at everyone involved, and also needs to be examined to make sure it wasn't altered in any way.

He also said that police would like to speak with whoever shot the video.

"That would be very helpful and we're trying to identify who that person is," he said. "We'd really like them to come forward to provide us with a better copy of the video."

The video, posted to the site Sunday under the channel name "amonie212," is shot at night and is out-of-focus and jittery. The location is not identified, but vehicles in the video appear to have the markings of York City Police cruisers.

Taken from a second- or third-floor window, the video opens as a group of police are gathered around a man who appears to be in handcuffs.

About 19 seconds in, as police are leading the man to a police cruiser, one of the officers moves suddenly near the man and someone on the other end of the video said, "He slit him."

The other officers in the video don't appear to react to the officer's actions.

The man cannot be seen as the officer is moving, but those leaving comments on the video were quick to label it an example of police brutality.

Not all defendants succeed in apologizing to victims, families

Defense attorneys say they like to know what their clients will say to victims in court.
By RICK LEE
Daily Record/Sunday News
York, PA -
Following a conviction, when a criminal defendant finally has a chance to face the victims who were caused pain, the defense attorney typically wants to know beforehand what the defendant is going to say.

"I will tell them to write it out and I'll review it to help them phrase what they want to say," Clasina Mahoney, York County's First Assistant Public Defender, said. "A lot of my clients are not well-spoken. But I don't put words in their mouths."

Defense attorney Suzanne Smith said the opportunity for a convicted defendant to apologize at sentencing often is as traumatic for the defendant as it is for the victims.

"Some clients just can't compose themselves," she said. "But I haven't had anyone who was not cognizant of the victim, who didn't understand the family's loss."

Mahoney and Smith said they have been surprised on occasion when a defendant goes off course during an apology.

On Tuesday, Joanna Seibert, the Dillsburg woman who struck and killed Northern York County Regional Police Officer David Tome in 2008, spoke for the first time to the officer's family at her sentencing hearing.

Her statement, however, focused largely on the hardships the fatal crash caused her in the intervening two years. Chief Deputy Prosecutor Timothy Barker said afterwards, her "I'm sorry" to Tome's widow and family was "a footnote" in the apology.

Seibert, who was sentenced to one day less than a year in county prison for homicide by vehicle, is not the only defendant whose sentencing statement has drawn fire.

In October, Francis Plaza, who was convicted of first-degree murder for fatally shooting his wife, Michelle Plaza, five times in the chest in 2009, complained about his attorney, his jury and the criminal justice system before saying, "I am very sorry for the tragedy that happened to my wife."

Plaza, who was sentenced to life without parole, had admitted he killed his wife, but only during a "black out" she caused when she told him she was leaving him.

William Michael Stankewicz, the man who entered North Hopewell-Winterstown Elementary School in 2001 and attacked the principal, two teachers and 11 children with a machete, said at his sentencing the victims' lost "pint of blood" or "thumb sewn back on" was not as terrible as his own personal problems.

School principal Norina E. Bentzel suffered crippling injuries to both hands when she fought with Stankewicz to protect herself, her staff and the school children.

Instead of apologizing for injuring Bentzel and terrorizing the children, Stankewicz said his Russian mail-order bride, her divorce attorney and immigration services should apologize to his victims.

Stankewicz was sentenced to 132 to 264 years in state prison.

Defense attorney Jeffrey Marshall said he believed most of his clients who choose to address their victims do so out of sincerity, with the added expectation the judge also will recognize their remorse.

"There is hope the family would understand and the court would understand," he said.

Silence before sentencing

Crime victims, or their surviving family members, rarely hear a word of apology from a defendant until it comes to sentencing.

That's typically on the advice of their attorneys, although often under orders from the court.

At sentencing, the courts encourage those injured parties to deliver "victim impact statements," written or oral accounts of how the crime has affected their lives before asking defendants if they have anything to say.

And by that time, a year or so after the crime, many victims and survivors are almost livid. Before the defendant is allowed to address them, victims demand to know why there hasn't been an apology or any show of remorse.

There are defendants, local attorneys say, who want to reach out to the victims and apologize for their actions.

"I will usually tell the victim's family (at sentencing) they've had no contact because I told my clients not to," defense attorney Suzanne Smith said. "I tell them, 'You cannot speak to the victim, apologize to the victim, send a letter, anything.'"

That is, Smith said, because any communication could end up as evidence at trial.

First Assistant Public Defender Clasina Mahoney said she has had clients who have written letters of apology to victims, which she has held back until the case is over before delivering them to victims.
