Nation of Islam Member Claims Police Brutality After Releasing Violent Arrest Vid

A Nation of Islam Member in Alabama is claiming police brutality after his attorney released video of his brutal arrest.
A security camera captured police apparently striking 29-year-old Travarious Daniel multiple times during a March 20 incident:
“The Nation of Islam wanted to let people know what was done to him,” Charles Salvagio, Daniel’s attorney, told Reuters. “The guy had his hands up and was trying to surrender. When he came to my office, he looked like he had two heads, it was so swollen.”
“The mayor is disturbed by what he has seen of the video,” the major’s chief of staff, Erskine “Chuck” Faush Jr., told Reuters on Thursday.
Daniel’s accusations, however, have not shielded him from charges. Reuters reports undercover police were chasing him in the first place “after observing him take the keys of a parked car and remove a GPS, a Dell computer and a carton of cigarettes that he then put into his own car.”
He’s been charged with receiving stolen goods and breaking and entering into a vehicle, and an additional felony charge of possession of a stolen firearm is expected.
Two officers involved in the incident have been put on paid administrative leave pending a full investigation.
