Reform Group Urges Catholics To Stop Donating to Bishops, Says They Are Hiding Known And Suspected Pedophile Priests
Roman Catholic bishops’ practice of allowing known and suspected sexual predators to remain in ministry is a major public safety and health threat to our children and grandchildren.
Child safety, child health, and common sense require that bishops disclose immediately the names and whereabouts of all known and credibly accused pedophile priests on diocesan and parish websites and immediately remove these men from ministry.
Contrary to the belief of well intentioned but misinformed Catholics, bishops are still allowing known and credibly accused pedophile priests to remain in ministry (refer to the recent disclosures, which shocked the nation, of massive cover up of sexual abuse of children by priests in the archdiocese of Philadelphia). This widespread and incomprehensible practice is an unacceptable safety risk to children.
Send the Bishops a Message, a church reform group headquartered in Tucson, AZ, urges Catholics to register their condemnation of this contemptible Church practice by withholding donations from their bishop until the names and whereabouts of all known and credibly accused pedophile priests are published on every diocesan and parish website.
Catholics can continue to financially support their pastors and parishes by placing their usual weekly Mass donations in the collection plate accompanied by a note to their pastor insisting that the entire donation remain in the parish and that none of their money is to be forwarded to the bishop.
Send the Bishops a Message (www.sendthebishopsamessage.com) urges Catholics to withhold financial donations to let the bishops know that shielding known and credibly accused pedophile priests is an absolutely unacceptable risk to the health and safety of our children. Send the Bishops a Message is sponsored by Desert Voices, Inc., an Arizona non-profit corporation.
