C4L: GOP "leadership" caving in to Barack Obama and Harry Reid on sequestration

Campaign for Liberty

The GOP "leadership" has already caved in to President Obama twice this year - first on the so-called "fiscal cliff" and second on the debt ceiling sell-out.

Now it appears they're going for the "hat trick of sell-outs" by caving in to Barack Obama and Harry Reid on sequestration when they meet tomorrow for "negotiations."

And the bad news is, the first Senate vote is about to take place RIGHT NOW.

If you've had enough of the Republican "leadership" in Congress caving in and selling out to Barack Obama and Harry Reid, I hope you'll take action today to do something about it.

That's why I'm counting on you to call Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell IMMEDIATELY at (202) 224-2541 and insist he stand up to Barack Obama and the big spenders in Congress.

And while you're at it, please call both of your U.S. Senators and tell them you want REAL CUTS RIGHT NOW!

Sen. Bob Casey: (202) 224-6324
Sen. Pat Toomey: (202) 224-4254

As you know, under the so-called "draconian" sequestration plan, spending will increase by $1.6 trillion over the next ten years - instead of by the planned increase of $1.7 trillion.

But according to the Washington establishment, this mere reduction in the rate of growth in spending is too much.

In fact, tomorrow Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker John Boehner, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi will meet with President Obama to discuss ways to roll back the supposedly disastrous cuts under "sequestration."

The very fact that this meeting is occurring is a flip-flop, since just days ago the GOP leadership said they would not negotiate with Barack Obama any longer and were prepared to let the chips fall where they may.

In my 25-plus years working in politics, I've seen this pattern repeated again and again.

GOP leadership gives lip service to supporting spending cuts. . . the big spenders in both parties ramp up the pressure, and the GOP "leaders" claim they will NEVER GIVE IN.

Then, they start "negotiations," and within 24-72 hours of saying they would never surrender, the GOP leadership waves the white flag and caves in to Barack Obama.

The good news is, if enough freedom-loving Americans take action, you and I can stop this disaster from taking place!

So please, call Senator Mitch McConnell - and both of your U.S. Senators - and insist they vote against any so-called "deal" that doesn't include real spending cuts.

Let them know you're not fooled by their crafty language. INSIST they support REAL CUTS RIGHT NOW.

Time is running out, so please call Mitch McConnell and both of your U.S. Senators right away.

I'll be sure to keep you up-to-date throughout the day as this fight takes place on Capitol Hill.

In Liberty,

John Tate
President

P.S. Please chip in $10 or $20 to help Campaign for Liberty alert millions of Americans to this dangerous scheme.

In My Opinion
Environmentalism and Human Sacrifice
By: Dennis Prager
Last week, Bjorn Lomborg, the widely published Danish professor and director of one of the world's leading environmental think tanks, the Copenhagen Consensus Center, published an article about the Philippines' decision, after 12 years, to allow genetically modified (GM) rice -- "golden rice" -- to be grown and consumed in that country. The reason for the delay was environmentalist opposition to GM rice; and the reason for the change in Philippine policy was that 4.4 million Filipino children suffer from vitamin A deficiency. That deficiency, Lomborg writes, "according to the World Health Organization, causes 250,000 to 500,000 children to go blind each year. Of these, half die within a year."

60 Plus Quarterly Update
By: 60 Plus Association
It’s a New Year across America, but little has changed in Washington, with President Obama and Senate leader Harry Reid (D-NV) obstinately standing against reining in government spending, and senior citizens scheduled to get walloped with higher taxes and the effects of Obamacare as more facets of the healthcare law continue to be rolled out. Obama’s January 21 inaugural address was a cattle-call to move forward with every item on the liberal special interest wish list, but despite his tough talk, 60 Plus and millions of our senior activists will be standing in the way of his agenda!

To hear President Barack Obama tell it, the impending $85 billion in spending cuts to the federal budget known as the sequester are the worst disaster since Seth MacFarlane hosted the Academy Awards. BJU Press
The Christian Publishing Company with a Vision
By: BJU Press
In the early 1970s it became apparent that if there were to be academically solid, biblically sound science textbooks, Christian teachers of science would have to write them. George Mulfinger and Emmett Williams, two Christian university professors, agreed and were commissioned to write a high school physical science textbook. At that time the University Press—as BJU Press was called years ago—had been publishing a few books and booklets by theologians. The machinery—human and otherwise—producing books, booklets, and a periodical, Faith for the Family, was called upon to help prepare the science text manuscript for printing.

Obama: Fear the Sequester Cuts!
By: Howard Kurtz
Appearing before hardhat-wearing shipyard workers in Newport News, Va., the president tried to step up pressure on the GOP to avoid the so-called sequester that hits Friday. Following the all-politics-is-local rule, Obama pointed out that 90,000 Virginia defense workers will face furloughs if the cuts are allowed to stand. In a new twist, the president reacted to an emerging Republican plan to give the administration more flexibility in carrying out the $85 billion in cutbacks slated for his year. That, of course, would shift political responsibility to the White House. And Obama wasn’t buying, saying the time frame was too short to give him anything other than unpalatable choices.
