Deer runs into grocery store in West Manchester Township

By REBECCA LeFEVER and EMILY OPILO
Daily Record/Sunday News

York, PA -

A herd of deer went running through West Manchester Township Saturday, keeping police busy as one jumped off a bridge, another ran through a grocery store and two caused crashes.

No people were injured, but police responded to four calls involving deer injury or death.

The deer chase led West Manchester Police to a crowded grocery store, where customers had wrestled a buck to the ground after it came running through the front door of the Giant Food Store in Delco Plaza along Route 74 about 3 p.m.

Jumping over the checkout belt of cash register six, the deer fell, suffering a large gash in its side and knocking off both antlers.

Customers waiting in line wasted no time to grab the deer and hold it to the ground.

Sherlyn Young of Spring Grove grabbed a roll of paper towels and covered the animal's eyes while her husband, Tracey, helped hold it down.

"I applied pressure to its wounds to try and stop the bleeding," Sherlyn Young said. "All I could do was say a prayer over it."

When police arrived at the store, they zip tied the buck's legs and lifted it onto a dolly cart. Customers pulled out their cell phones to snap photos as about five men, including police, customers and store employees, wheeled the deer out the back of the store, down a ramp and into the back parking lot.

Once outside, the deer's ties were cut and the men let go, jumped backward and watched as the freed buck jumped over a barrier and up the quarry hill.

Minutes later, West Manchester Township Police were called to a crash on Route 30 near Kenneth Road. A deer had been struck.

Police were unable to confirm if the deer hit by the Chevrolet Impala traveling eastbound was the one released from Giant. At least a few other deer had been reported running through the Delco parking lot.

"We had several deer in the building at the old Delco Plaza years ago," patrol Officer Jeff Oberdorf said. "There were a couple in the K-mart. Never a dull moment."

Officer Brad Craig, who was just recently hired after working for Lower Windsor Township Police, said he never before had to deal with so many deer-related problems.

In one afternoon, three deer were dead and another three were on the loose, police said. The first call was for a deer jumping from a Route 30 overpass onto Taxville Road. The animal died on impact.

A second call was for a deer hit by a car in the Shiloh area, and that deer needed to be put down.

Oberdorf said Saturday was the last day for deer archery season, and that it wasn't uncommon for last-minute hunters to be scaring the deer out of wooded areas and into public places.

After calming down from the adrenaline of holding an injured buck, Sherlyn Young was talking to other Giant customers outside the store.

"I'm not surprised stuff like this happens," she said. "They're being hunted and looking for a safe place. It's too bad they aren't finding it here."

Fallen Dead Birds Eaten by America’s Homeless

Human Rights Examiner

By Deborah Dupre

As the human right to food continues to be violated in the U.S., birds falling to their death on swanky Sunset Boulevard were stuffed into jackets of the City of Angel’s poor and hungry or barbecued onsite Friday. Bird suicides have rocked the world as they have fallen in California, Arkansas, Kentucky, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Missouri as well as other countries such as Sweden, Romania, New Zealand and Italy.

Some of the birds, such as those fallen in Italy, show signs of poisoning, a blue tinge on their beaks. Nevertheless, when excessively hungry, people eat anything they can, as witnessed in America – from the Gulf of Mexico coastal communities where people are eating recently poisoned fish – to Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles this Friday.

In Los Angeles, at least four in ten people live in poverty, 1.5 million actually live at the federal poverty level, and one out of 10 Angeleno families live in extreme poverty (below the federal poverty level).

“By the time I arrived at Sunset and Cahuenga, confusion was in full swing and the homelesses were busy picking up the dead birds and stuffing them into their dirty jacket pockets,” writes Los Angeles Associated Content reporter, Adam Luebke:

“The dead birds in this incident were exclusively pigeons, but for the homelesses, they were food. One man had already cleaned his fowl and was arguing with a hot dog vendor about frying it on his hot dog grill. The homeless held a bloody knife and shook the pigeon in the vendor’s face. The pigeon’s entrails hung at least a foot from the pigeon’s slashed belly. The guts swayed as the homeless man passionately pointed his knife at the hot dog grill…The poor pigeons that had landed in the street were mostly squashed. A bloody mess.”

A plethora of tyrannical campaigns have been initiated and designed to break up communities and turn citizens against one another. The justifications for these fascist programs are always a matter of national security. The real reason for these programs and even the events that brought them into existence is to set up a police control grid.

It’s a device that would be more at home on the set of a Star Wars movie than the streets of Britain.

But an iPhone application has been developed that can read minds.

The XWave allows users to control on-screen objects with their minds as well as train their brains to control attention spans and relaxation levels.

The device – that could confuse Luke Skywalker himself – is the latest in the field of emerging mind-controlled games and devices and works via a headset strapped around the user’s forehead, plugging into the iPhone jack.

A state-of-the-art sensor within the device can then read the user’s brainwaves through the skull, converting them into digital signals before displaying them in various colours on the iPhone screen.

Criticism of undercover operations used by police to infiltrate radical protest groups is set to increase following revelations that the officer, known only as Officer B, had a sexual relationship with a woman who thought he was a fellow activist.

She said on Saturday she felt “colossally betrayed” by his actions.

News of the existence of the 44-year-old officer comes as regulators prepare two separate official inquiries into the activities of the secret police surveillance network, following the unmasking of Mark Kennedy, an undercover officer who had infiltrated environmental groups in Nottingham.

His activity came to light after the collapse of a trial against six activists involved in the campaign against Ratcliffe -on-Soar power station.

Officer B, whose identity has been withheld amid fears for his safety in other criminal operations, worked undercover for four years after infiltrating an anarchist group in Cardiff.

Pa. Amish man who killed wife in frenzy found dead

The Associated Press
CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa.—An Amish man who killed his wife in a schizophrenic frenzy in 1993 has been found dead on his property in northwestern Pennsylvania.

The Erie Times-News reports that 45-year-old Edward Gingerich was found hanged inside a barn in Rockdale Township on Friday.

Crawford County Chief Deputy Coroner Scott Schell ruled the death a suicide.

Gingerich has said he killed his 29-year-old wife with a kitchen knife to exorcise the devil and because she planned to attend a wedding without him.

In 1994, he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter but found mentally ill.

Gingerich was sentenced to 2 1/2 to 5 years in prison. He was released in 1998.

"One Nation Under God" (Flyer)

"One Nation Under God" (Flyer)

From the very beginning of the great controversy in heaven it has been Satan's purpose to overthrow the law of God. It was to accomplish this that He entered upon his rebellion against the Creator, and though he was cast out of heaven he has continued the same warfare upon the earth. Te deceive men, and thus lead them to transgress God's law, is the object which he has steadfastly pursued. Whether this be accomplished by casting aside the law altogether, or by rejecting one of its precepts, the result will be ultimately the same. ...

In rejecting the truth, men reject its Author. In trampling upon the law of God, they deny the authority of the Lawgiver. ... No error accepted by the Christian world strikes more boldly against the authority of Heaven, none is more directly opposed to the dictates of reason, none is more pernicious in its results, than the modem doctrine so rapidly gaining ground that God's law is no longer binding upon men.

Every nation has its laws, which command respect and obedience; no government could exist without them; and can it be conceived that the Creator of the heavens and the earth has no law to govern the beings He has made? ... But is it a graver offense to disregard the laws of states and nations than to trample upon those divine precepts which are the foundation of all government?

It would be far more consistent for nations to abolish their statutes, and permit the people to do as they please, than for the Ruler of the universe to annul His law, and leave the world without a standard to condemn the guilty or justify the obedient. ...

Those who teach the people to regard lightly the commandments of God sow disobedience to reap disobedience. Let the restraint imposed by the divine law be wholly cast aside, and human laws would soon be disregarded. ... If the law were not binding, why should any fear to transgress? Property would no longer be safe. Men would obtain their neighbor's possessions by violence, and the strongest would become richest. Life itself would not be respected. The marriage vow would no longer stand as a sacred bulwark to protect the family. He who had the power, would, if he desired, take his neighbor's wife by violence. The fifth commandment would be set aside with the fourth. Children would not shrink from taking the life of their parents if by so doing they could obtain the desire of their corrupt hearts. The civilized world would become a horde of robbers and assassins; and peace, rest, and happiness would be banished from the earth.

Already the doctrine that men are released from obedience to God's requirements has weakened the force of moral obligation and opened the floodgates of iniquity upon the world. ... The vilest of criminals, when thrown into prison for their offenses, are often made the recipients of gifts and attentions as if they had attained an enviable distinction. Great publicity is given to their character and crimes. The press publishes the revolting details of vice, thus initiating others into the practice of fraud, robbery, and murder; and Satan exults in the success of his hellish schemes. The infatuation of vice, the wanton taking of life, the terrible increase of intemperance and iniquity of every order and degree, should arouse all who fear God, to inquire what can be done to stay the tide of evil.

Courts of justice are corrupt. Rulers are actuated by desire for gain and love of sensual pleasure. Intemperance has beclouded the faculties of many so that Satan has almost complete control of them. Jurists are perverted, bribed, deluded. Drunkenness and revelry, passion, envy, dishonesty of every sort, are represented among those who administer the laws. "Justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter." Isaiah 59:14. ...

Satan works through the elements also to garner his harvest of unprepared souls. He has studied the secrets of the laboratories of nature, and he uses all his power to control the elements as far as God allows. When he was suffered to afflict Job, how quickly flocks and herds, servants, houses, children, were swept away, one trouble succeeding another as in a moment. It is God that shields His chreatures and hedges them in from the power of the destroyer. ...

Even now [Satan] is at work. In accidents and calamities by sea and by land, in great conflagrations, in fierce tornadoes and terrific hailstorms, in tempests, floods, cyclones, tidal waves, and earthquakes, in every place and in a thousand forms, Satan is exercising his power. He sweeps away the ripening harvest, and famine and distress follow. He imparts to the air a deadly taint, and thousands perish by the pestilence. These visitation are to become more and more frequent and disastrous. Destruction will be upon both man and beast. "The earth mourneth and fadeth away" ...

God never forces the will or the conscience; but Satan's constant restort — to gain control of those whome he cannot otherwise secuce — is compulsion by cruelty. Through fear of force he endeavors to rule the conscience and to secure homage to himself. To accomplish this, he works through both religious and secular authorities, moving them to the enforcement of human laws in defiance of the law of God. ... The lack of divine authority will be supplied by oppressive enactments. Political corruption is destroying love of justice and regard for truth; and even in free America, rulers and legislators, in order to secure public favor, will yield to the popular demand for a law ...

Secret Societies are in existence now. William Schaw was claimed to be an important figure in the development of Freemasonry. He was an informant as a follower of Esme Stewart or the 1st Duke of Lennox. He made the Schaw Statues about Masonry. He died in 1602. This was nearly 2 years before King James formal, physical accession to the throne. He was a Roman Catholic. This history is covered up apparently to not allow people to know about the Bible of the Reformation called the Geneva Bible. Also, this time in the 1600's, the elite allowed the crypto-Catholic Church (or the Anglican Church) to have a monopoly on ecclesiastical issues. This Anglican elite also use tactics to suppress efforts of anti-Jesuitism and destroy much of UK sovereignty. Many of these Anglicans back then persecuted Reformers and Baptists in England. That is why the Reformers and Baptists fled the UK into America to possess religious liberty. The Anglican Royals allied with the Papacy to support the Jesuit-influenced European Union too. Today, the Anglican Royals from the UK marry into the Catholics and have meetings with each other. This Ecumenical tie refutes the disinformation that there is no Masonic & Jesuit links of collaboration in history. Troy was right to expose this stuff. I don't totally agree with him on King James though. King James wasn't perfect, but he expelled the Order in 1604, he burned the works of the Jesuit Francisco Suarez justifying regicide, and he explicitly condemned witchcraft. Troy is right to give a special respect for the Geneva Bible for without the Geneva Bible and the Tyndale Bible, the King James Bible wouldn't exist. I do believe that the King James Bible is a very accurate translation from the Textus Receptus line. So, I believe that the Geneva Bible and the KJV are apart of the Word of God. The KJV wasn't a product of inspiration, but preservation of the Scriptures.

I don't agree with Troy on the KJV totally, but his research was interesting. Since, I'm a smart man, I've did something. Here's the link where you can find some of Troy's research on this issue (even though I don't agree totally with Troy on this issue. It's a good thing I had the instincts to perserve a lot of information. I believe that both the Geneva Bible and the KJV are accurate). Troy is right to expose the Jesuits and the Freemasons. I don't believe that Troy is some shill for a real shill wouldn't allow debate and omit information. He has views and allows differing views to exist in his framework. These links shows a debate and both sides on this issue:

Miracle man comes back 'from the dead' after 3.5 hours - medical skill and high tec machine save him

A MAN whose heart had stopped was brought back from the dead after three-and-a-half HOURS.

Arun Bhasin, 53, was rushed into hospital after being found unconscious in the street in temperatures of -10C.

But as he was being wheeled in, he went into cardiac arrest and was just minutes from death.

By pure luck, he’d been taken to the Croydon University Hospital – home to two of the country’s top experts in resuscitation.

They put him on a pioneering new CPR machine which performed almost 20,000 life-saving chest compressions.

Chest compression machine at Croydon Hospital (Pic: DM)

Dr Nigel Raghunath, said: “He was pretty much dead in that he had no pulse or heartbeat for three-and-a-half hours so it is amazing that we got him back.”

He added: “I’ve not seen any-thing like it in 15 years in A&E.”

Engineer Arun, of East London, admitted: “I should be dead. I can’t believe they kept me alive for so long. It’s a miracle.

“They are amazing people and I know I am very, very lucky.”

The drama started over Christmas as he walked home from a party in Croydon, East London, when he hit his head.

He was taken to hospital but his body temperature had plummeted 10 degrees. Medics, led by Dr Raghunath and Russell Metcalfe-Smith, hooked him up to the AutoPulse machine to keep his heart and lungs functioning.

Dr Raghunath explained: “It meant that we could get on with the job of getting him back while it gave him a chance of recovery.

“If not we would have needed relay teams of people continually performing chest compressions while we worked around them.”

The team battled on and the machine used up four batteries.

With the clock approaching three-and-a-half hours, Arun’s pulse returned and his heart flickered back to life.

Mr Metcalfe-Smith said: “You read about this sort of things in medical journals but never expect to come in contact with them.

“The machine bought us the time and the skill of the medical team did the rest.”

World's first flu-resistant GM chickens 'created'

World's first flu-resistant GM chickens 'created'

By Pallab Ghosh

Professor Helen Sang: "Not only could we use this approach to tackle bird flu but other diseases"

UK scientists have created the world's first genetically modified chickens that do not spread bird flu.

Writing in Science journal, the team says their work demonstrates it is possible to create a variety of GM farm animals resistant to viral diseases.

The research team inserted an artificial gene into chickens; this introduces a tiny part of the bird flu virus into chicken cells.

These birds become infected but render the virus harmless to other poultry.

The team believes that the genetic modification they have introduced is harmless to the chickens and to people who might eat the birds.

Professor Helen Sang of Edinburgh University told BBC News that genetic modification is potentially a much better way of protecting against diseases than vaccination because the GM technique works even if the virus mutates.

"It will protect a whole flock from avian influenza infection. This is really exciting because bird flu is a real challenge to poultry production and if it were introduced to poultry breeding it would protect our large scale production flocks from avian inlfuenza," said Professor Sang.

Broad protection

The researchers say that, in principle, the technique could be used to protect any farm animal from any disease. The eventual aim is to develop animals that are completely resistant to viral diseases.

GM chicken (Science)

Genetic modification could be an alternative to vaccination, scientists say

According to co-author Dr Laurence Tiley, from the University of Cambridge, UK: "Agricultural selective breeding has made huge improvements on productivity of many livestock - but it's reaching the point where it's now limited.

"And the GM technologies allow you to introduce novel genes that don't exist in nature but are based on our detailed knowledge of the molecular biology of viruses. We can specifically target these viruses to prevent them from replicating."

The researchers say they think the technology has the potential to boost food production and reduce costs.

"There's going to be a real problem in feeding the world as the population increases," says Professor Sang.

"As the demand for animal products increases and it's going to get increasingly expensive and we are looking at different ways to tackle that problem."

GM techniques could also have benefits for human health, according to Professor Sang. If fewer animals are carrying viruses there is a lower chance of them mutating into a form that would be deadly to humans and so create a pandemic.

Cautious welcome

But the news received a cautious welcome from the poultry industry. Peter Bradnock of The British Poultry Council said more research was needed to assess the long term impact on farm animals before food producers would even consider using the technology.

Even then, companies would have to assess the likely reaction from consumers: "We have to have a big debate as to whether society wants to have GM animals even for this very good potential benefit," he told BBC News.

And Tim Elsdale, who is an organic farmer in East Sussex, said it was better to adopt good farming practices to avoid animals getting diseases in the first place than to create GM farm animals.

"We don't suffer much from animal diseases on this farm," he said.

"Organic methods of husbandry doesn't encourage disease if the animals are well spaced enough. They live in a natural environment and they eat normal food then a lot of diseases that are prevalent on conventional farming would not be apparent to us".

If the food and farming industry did want to use GM technology in this way in the UK, they would need to seek prior approval from the Food Standards Agency (FSA). The FSA would conduct a full detailed safety evaluation before any of this GM produce could enter the market.

In addition to that, produce would need to be labelled so that consumers would be able to make a choice about the food they eat. If there were an application, the authorisation process could be carried out in a matter of months.

The FSA's Chief Scientist, Dr Andrew Wadge said it would be interesting to see if the debate over GM animals would go the same way as the debate over GM crops:

"I do think it's interesting that so far with GM technology it's not really a benefit for consumers and wouldn't it be interesting if we had produce that did offer a benefit?

"For example, food safety for us is about a bacteria found in chickens called Campylobacter which makes 500,000 people ill each year.

"If we could develop a GM chicken that is resistant to Campylobacter it would be very interesting indeed to see how consumers saw that technology and whether it was a technology they would be willing to embrace".

Cybercrime Blogger Vanishes After Finding Tracking Device In His Bathroom

Cybercrime Blogger Vanishes After Finding Tracking Device In His BathroomWhere did Dancho Danchev go? The Bulgarian cybercrime researcher has been missing since last August. The only clues: A source who says he's "in a lot of trouble," and pictures of a mysterious government surveillance device found in his apartment.

Danchev is a "security consultant and cyber threats analyst," and a blogger for tech site ZDNet. His last post for that site was August 18th, 2010 and his colleagues have apparently been looking for him ever since. Over the past few months, they've called Danchev, reached out to Bulgarian authorities and even sent him snail mail when all else failed, according to a ZDNet blog post by Ryan Naraine. No response.

But they have turned up some troubling leads:

Last month, we finally got a mysterious message from a local source in Bulgaria that "Dancho's alive but he's in a lot of trouble." We were told that he's in the kind of trouble to keep him away from a computer and telephone, so it would be impossible to make contact with him.

ZDNet also posted an email Danchev sent to a friend on September 9th:

[Name redacted],

As I consider you as a trusted colleague, and someone who understands the big picture of cyber crime and cyber espionage, I'm attaching you photos of the "current situation in my bathroom", courtesy of Bulgarian Law enforcement+intell services who've been building a case trying to damage my reputation, for 1.5 years due to my clear pro-Western views+the fact that a few months ago, the FBI Attache in Sofia, Bulgaria recommended me as an expert to Bulgarian CERT -> clearly you can see how they say "You're Welcome".

Included were pictures of some sort of government surveillance device:

Very strange. Needless to say, if you have any information about Danchev's wearabouts, please let ZDnet (and us!) know.

Update: It appears that thing in the picture is a fairly innocent lighting transformer, though Danchev was clearly convinced it was something more malicious.

And some details about the timeline: Fellow security researcher Mikko Hypponen tells us that he saw Danchev at Interpol HQ in Lyon in early September and he was "fine." But by November, Hypponen and some colleagues had started wondering what happened to Danchev after not hearing from him for a while. These concerns were put to rest when security researcher Andre M. DiMino tweeted "I've heard from good sources he was well" on Dec 15th.

"I stopped worrying, until Ryan blogged about this again today," Hypponen told us.

Social Media Didn't Oust Tunisia's President — The Tunisian People Did

Amplify’d from gawker.com

Social Media Didn't Oust Tunisia's President — The Tunisian People DidSocial Media Didn't Oust Tunisia's President — The Tunisian People DidEvents in Tunisia are changing by the minute, but one thing is clear: This is the first popular uprising to bring down a leader in the Arab world in recent history. Who — or what — is responsible for it?

We should stop trying to fit the events in Tunisia into a Western context. It simplifies things, but it also overlooks the real forces of change at work in the North African country. This isn't about Facebook, or Wikileaks, or Twitter — it's about the people of Tunisia being fed up with decades of marginalization at the hands of a Western-backed kleptocracy, and taking charge of their own future. Among the issues that brought about the events of the last month: Low wages, few job prospects for a growing educated class, high food prices, and a heavy-handed government lead by former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. Did social media have an effect on events in Tunisia? Undoubtedly, yes. Is this a social media revolution? Absolutely not.

According to CNN's Ben Wedeman (via Twitter!), gunshots are still being heard in the streets of the capital, Tunis, and a prison fire this morning claimed the lives of at least 42 people. The BBC's Wyre Davies says, "There are tanks on virtually every corner in downtown Tunis." Police are reportedly looting government buildings as well as the homes and businesses of civilians. In short, the "Jasmine Revolution" is far from over.

The most important question now is what happens next? Ben Ali skulked out of the country and has (quite fittingly) taken up temporary residence at Disneyland Paris. Prime Minister Mohamed Ghannouchi briefly took over, but this morning was replaced by Speaker of Parliament Fouad Mebazaa. Yesterday, Cairo-based journalist Issandr El Amrani wrote at the Arabist:

In the meantime, though, we should not assume that Tunisia has become an instant democracy. The announcement today that Prime Minister Ghanouchi was assuming the presidency has yet to be accepted. Rioting and looting are continuing in the streets of major Tunisian cities, sometimes targeting the homes and businesses of regime cronies, but also of ordinary citizens. Some suspect police desertors to be looting. The situation is chaotic and the army is showing signs of wanting to impose order.

With no clear leadership with the moral authority to get people to go back to their homes, it may be days before the situation resolves itself. What interim president Ghanouchi does tomorrow in his meeting with the opposition — whose very definition will be controversial, notably over whether En-Nahda's Islamists could become part of an interim coalition government — will be crucial. Right now, there does not seem to be any indication that Tunisians are accepting any government as legitimate. Ghanouchi will have to either move quickly to build a credible alliance (here the international community may have a role in confering legitimacy) or step aside for someone who can.

And while Ghanouchi was quickly replaced, it's important to ask, as El Amrani does, whether Ben Ali regime figures will, or should, have a place in the new Tunisia. And if they do stick around, what role will they play? And what about the country's constitution? Currently, it impedes the growth of opposition parties and was built to keep one man in power. Many opposition members will want a clean slate, but the country does need some sort of transitional government to maintain order. We're a long way from knowing how this will all play out.

Another development to watch closely will be the effect this has on the despots and crooked monarchs who rule in Egypt, Libya, Jordan, and many other countries across the region. Arab media outlets were broadcasting striking images from Tunisia into millions of homes long before Western media found the air time, and the role Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya, and many other satellite news channels have played can't be underestimated.

The strongmen of the region have officially been put on notice.

Update: Ben Ali and his family's time in Eurodisney was short lived, they've moved on to Saudi Arabia.
