Watch Live: NASA's Mission To Touch The Sun August 11, 2018 This Sunday morning, August 12 at 3:31am ET, NASA will once again attempt to launch the Parker Solar Probe aboard a Delta IV-Heavy from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The previous attempt was scrubbed due to a technical glitch. The probe is expected to swoop into the Sun's atmosphere about 4 million miles away from the solar surface, and be subjected to extreme heat and radiation the likes of which no previous probe has ever had to endure. Scientists hope to gain new data on solar activity and learn how to predict space-weather events that could hit the planet. Watch the Parker Solar Probe launch live at NASA.gov.
