New way to end abortion funding in Obamacare

National Pro-Life Alliance

We have a test case in Oklahoma that is providing a roadmap for the rest of the nation.

Pro-life Oklahoma legislators have found a way that promises to stop the Obama administration from forcing taxpayer funding of abortion down your throats.

As you know, there has been tons of controversy as to the real financial cost of ObamaCare -- both to individual citizens and the nation's economy.

But the one thing that is clear is that federal funding of abortion is so ingrained in multiple places in the law is that the only way to end that funding is to kill ObamaCare and let the Congress start over fresh.

And the good news is there is now legislation in Oklahoma that will do just that.

You see, when the Supreme Court came down with their decision on ObamaCare, they made a key ruling.

They struck down the part of President Obama's plan that forces states to implement his federal mandates, saying "The States are separate and independent sovereigns. Sometimes they have to act like it."

Already federal officials are trying to force employers to provide abortion pills as part of their package of health insurance coverage. Business owners would be forced to provide abortion coverage, or face draconian fines.

And although today, they "only" want to force you to pay for abortion-inducing drugs, with a stroke of the pen tomorrow, Obama's minions can add forced coverage of surgical and even late-term abortions.

Worse still, while the state absorbs the cost of the program, it is forced to follow all of Obama's federal regulations which require coverage of abortion drugs or worse.

I believe the Supreme Court painted a clear roadmap out of ObamaCare, but the Obama administration and their allies nationwide are working to force this deadly mandate on American employers and taxpayers.

Oklahoma HB 1021 would stop the Obama administration right in their tracks -- preventing them from forcing taxpayer funding of abortion via ObamaCare Oklahoma.

Oklahoma pro-lifers are already pushing legislators to cosponsor and seek roll call votes on HB 1021 -- and other states across the nation are following their lead.

I'll continue to keep you filled in as Oklahoma moves forward with their legislation, and I hope that you will encourage your state legislators to follow their lead.

For Life,

Martin Fox, President
National Pro-Life Alliance

P.S. In addition to acting in your own state I hope that you will also consider chipping in with a donation of $50, $25 or $10 to help me get our critical message out to other pro-lifers, especially in Oklahoma.

Black Smoke Seen At The Vatican Tonight

Holy smoke! Is this final pope before Jesus?

Predictor of Benedict's resignation eyes vote through lens of prophecy

conclave-door-closingAn author who predicted Pope Benedict XVI would be the first pontiff in nearly 600 years to resign is keeping close watch on the conclave of cardinals through the lens of a medieval prophecy that indicates the man they select will be history’s “final pope.”

Tom Horn, co-author of the book “Petrus Romanus: The Final Pope is Here,” told WND he has a list of 10 men among the 115 sequestered in the Sistine Chapel who best fit St. Malachy’s “Prophecy of the Popes,” said to be based on a prophetic vision of the 112 popes following Pope Celestine II, who died in 1144.

As WND reported, Horn and his co-author, Cris Putnam, predicted in their book Benedict would step down last April, and it turns out that April apparently was when Benedict made the historic decision he announced to the world last month.

“We said if he didn’t step down in 2012, he certainly would in 2013,” Horn told WND.

Malachy’s prophecies culminate with the “final pope,” “Peter the Roman,” whose reign ends with the destruction of Rome and the judgment of Christ.

Horn said he concluded Benedict would resign rather than die in the papacy based not only on St. Malachy but also on a host of historical and current information.

TODAY ONLY, get the electrifying “Petrus Romanus: The Final Pope is Here” by Tom Horn and Cris Putnam for only $4.95– a huge $15 discount off the regular price!

Earlier today, a plume of black smoke from the Vatican indicated the cardinals did not choose the 266th pope on the first day of conclave. The church leaders will cast four ballots a day beginning Wednesday

The 2012 prediction

Remarkably, Horn told WND, more than 60 years ago a Belgian Jesuit theologian and academic named Rene Thibault came up with the date 2012 as the culmination of Malachy’s prophecies.

Thibaut’s rare 1951 book, “The Mysterious Prophecy of the Popes,” was published in French only four months before Thibaut died.

Horn and Putnam translated the Belgian priest’s work into English.

“Adopting the methodology of a mystic as well as a scholar,” Horn and Putnam write in the first chapter of their book, Thibaut “makes a compelling case that ‘The Prophecy of the Popes’ is a real supernatural prophecy.”

Horn noted Thibaut is among many Catholic leaders, including popes, cardinals and priests, who have affirmed Malachy’s work, which was kept in the Vatican archives for five centuries before it was first published in 1595.

He said Thibaut used a number of methods of cryptographic analysis to come up with the date 2012, including calculating the average length of papal reign up until the time he wrote his book.

“In other words,” Horn and Putnam write, “2012 was seen as an end-times ‘event horizon’ by at least one Jesuit priest before most readers were born.”

St. Malachy, an Irish saint and the archbishop of Armagh, who lived from 1094 to 1148, described the “final pope” this way: “In the extreme persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will sit Peter the Roman, who will nourish the sheep in many tribulations; when they are finished, the City of Seven Hills will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people.”

As WND reported, he described the penultimate pope, which Horn believes is Benedict, as “Gloria Olivae,” or “Glory of the Olive.”

Benedict was not a Benedictine priest, yet he chose the name of the founder of the Order of Saint Benedict, which also is known as the Olivetans
The symbol of the Benedictine order includes an olive branch.

Top 10

Horn and his co-author have created a list of 10 candidates to succeed Benedict and become “Peter the Roman.”

In their top three is Angelo Scola, the archbishop of Milan. Horn said Scola has at least 50 of the Italian cardinals in his corner, which puts him in a very strong position.

But Horn noted that anti-Mafia police today raided the offices in his diocese, which could hurt his standing with other cardinals.

Interestingly, a leading candidate is Cardinal Tarcisio Pietro (Peter) Evasio Bertone, the cardinal secretary of state, who was born in Romano, Italy. His name could, as WND reported last month, therefore, be rendered “Peter the Roman” or “Petrus Romanus.”

Horn pointed out, however, that while Bertone appeared to be Benedict’s choice to succeed him, recently leaked Vatican documents include letters Bertone wrote to his secretary of state predecessor that indicate a tumultuous relationship and cast him in a negative light.

“I think, as a result, that has weakened Bertone’s opportunity to be elected,” Horn said. “But he is an Italian, and those guys stick together.

Many cardinals, on the other hand, Horn said, want to see someone outside of Italy, and a couple of leading Peters are Peter Turkson of Ghana, who would be the first African pope, and Peter Erdo of Hungary.

Turkson is the current president of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.

Regardless, Horn said he’s always maintained that it doesn’t take someone whose Christian name is Peter to fulfill the prophecy.

“In fact, if any Italian is elected, that would be a fairly transparent fulfillment,” he said.

Moreover, he argued, “in a very general sense, every pope could be regarded as ‘Peter the Roman,’ and in that sense, this could be the last one.”

“You had the first Peter, you had the last one.”

Along with Bertone, Turkson and Scola, the other candidates on Horn’s list are Francis Arinze of Nigeria; Gianfranco Ravasi of Italy, the president of the pontifical council for culture; Leonardo Sandri of Argentina, the prefect of the congregation for the oriental churches; Ennio Antonelli of Italy, retired president of the pontifical council for the family; Jean-Louis Tauran of France, president of the pontifical council for interreligious dialogue; Christoph Schönborn of Vienna; and Marc Ouellet of Quebec, president of the pontifical commission for Latin America.

Pew Research Center poll: U.S. Catholics divided on future of church

by John Hilton

Black smoke means no pope. While the cardinals continue to huddle in an attempt to produce the next pope (wouldn’t you love to hear those conversations??), it seems like the perfect time to consider what U.S. Catholics want to see from the next pontiff.

A new Pew Research Center poll yields some fascinating results, some that were certainly unexpected to me. For example, most Catholics say it would be good if the next pope allows priests to marry. And fully six-in-ten Catholics say it would be good if the next pope hails from a developing region like South America, Asia or Africa.

Other results were not as surprising. I fully expect a split between those who want the church to modernize and those who favor adhering to tradition. About half of U.S. Catholics (46%) say the next pope should “move the church in new directions,” the other half (51%) say the new pope should “maintain the traditional positions of the church.”

And among Catholics who say they attend Mass at least once a week, nearly two-thirds (63%) want the next pope to maintain the church’s traditional positions.

The survey is based on two national surveys conducted Feb. 13-18 among 1,504 adults (including 304 Catholics) and Feb. 14-17 among 1,003 adults (including 212 Catholics). The report also finds that nine-in-ten U.S. Catholics have heard a lot (60%) or at least a little (30%) about Benedict’s resignation. Just one-in-ten Catholics say they have heard nothing at all about his resignation.
Additional findings include:

· Favorability ratings of the pope. Three-quarters of U.S. Catholics (74%) express a favorable view of the pope. Benedict’s ratings among Catholics now stand about where they were in March 2008 (just before his U.S. visit) and are lower than they were in April 2008, when 83% of U.S. Catholics expressed favorable views of him. Benedict’s predecessor, Pope John Paul II, was rated favorably by upwards of 90% of U.S. Catholics in three separate Pew Research polls in the 1980s and 1990s.

· Benedict’s handling of the sex abuse scandal. U.S. Catholics voice dissatisfaction with Benedict’s handling of the sex abuse scandal in the church. Among Catholics who say they followed news of the pontiff’s resignation, nearly two-thirds (63%) think he has done a poor or “only fair” job of addressing the sex abuse scandal, while 33% give him excellent or good ratings for his handling of the issue. U.S. Catholics are more negative in their views on this question now than in 2008; immediately following the pope’s 2008 visit to the U.S., 49% gave Benedict good or excellent ratings for his handling of this issue.

· Benedict’s handling of interfaith relations. Benedict gets better marks for his handling of interfaith relations; 55% of U.S. Catholics say he has done a good or excellent job promoting relations with other religions, while 37% say he has done a poor or “only fair” job in this area. Catholics are also more negative in their views on this question now than in 2008, when 70% said he was doing a good or excellent job promoting interfaith relations.

· Maintain traditional positions or move in new directions? Among U.S. Catholics who say they attend Mass at least once a week, nearly two-thirds (63%) say the new pope should maintain the traditional positions of the church, while about one-third (35%) say the new pope should move the church in new directions. By contrast, among those who attend Mass less often, 54% say the next pope should move in new directions while 42% prefer to maintain the church’s traditional positions.

· New directions Catholics would like to see the church go. In response to an open-ended question, about one-in-five U.S. Catholics who think the next pope should move the church in new directions say simply that the church should become more modern (19%). And 15% want the next pope to do more to end sex abuse in the church and punish the priests involved. In addition, upwards of one-in-five mention issues regarding the priesthood, including 14% who say priests should be allowed to marry and 9% who say women should be allowed to serve in the priesthood. Others mention a desire to see the church become more accepting and open in general (14%), and an additional 9% say they want to see the church become more accepting of homosexuality and gay marriage in particular. Of Catholics who want a pope who will move the church in new directions, 7% specifically mention birth control, mainly indicating a desire for a lessening of the church’s opposition to the use of contraception.

Public Advocate's 2013 Supporters Poll

Public Advocate Banner

I've never had such a difficult decision...

I desperately need your advice.

You see, the homosexual onslaught is relentless.

They've been attacking on every front for months and your Public Advocate is worn to the bone.

During the holidays, I could barely take time away to spend with my family.

The Homosexual Lobby attacked relentlessly.

And because I just barely reached my end-of-year fundraising goals, the radical Homosexual Lobby smells blood in the water.

Since the shocking November elections, they've lined-up a tidal wave attack to launch any day now.

This tidal wave is designed to ram through their entire agenda in just weeks while I can barely fight back.

Now I'm forced to make a decision.

And I need your help.

I have linked to Public Advocate's 2013 Supporters Poll below.  I hope you will complete it and let me know which fights are most important to you.

You see, the Homosexual Lobby is pushing three main planks in their campaign to reshape America:

1) The Homosexual Classrooms Act, requiring every school -- even private and religious schools -- to teach appalling homosexual acts.

This legislation would spin impressionable students in a whirlwind of sexual confusion and misinformation, even peer pressure to “experiment” with the homosexual “lifestyle.”

2) The Offense of Marriage Act, repealing the Defense of Marriage Act which protects the majority of states from the radical homosexual “marriage” laws passed by a few.

If passed, wedding gown-clad men smooching before some left-wing clergyman or state official is just the beginning.

3) The Gay Bill of Special Rights, granting special job rights to homosexuals.  Every homosexual fired or not hired becomes a potential federal civil rights lawsuit.

Radical homosexuals will terrorize daycares, hospitals and churches.  Traditional moral values will be shattered by federal decree.

My friend, all of these bills are grave threats to morality and the Family... I just don't know which to fight.

Without additional funding, I'm not sure how much Public Advocate can fight them.

That's why your advice is so critical.

Which do you consider the biggest threat?

Please fill out the attached Supporter's Poll with your advice right now.

And along with your official decision, please consider giving an emergency contribution of $35, $25, $15 or even $10 today to fund Public Advocate's fight.

Supporters Poll

You see, without your advice, I don't feel comfortable pulling resources from one fight to another.

But if enough supporters like you tell me that one or two of these bills represent the greatest threat to you personally, I can move forward knowing I'm doing the right thing.

If the Homosexual Lobby succeeds in reshaping America in their image, the values you and I hold dear will be lost forever.

The ultimate goal of every radical homosexual activist is to create a new America where sexual promiscuity is the new norm, and traditional values are long forgotten.

You and I can't let them succeed.

I've prepared a massive grassroots lobbying campaign to defeat these bills.

The plans are all there ready to go...

But so are the costs.

Defeating just one of these bills will take tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I've currently budgeted around $35,000 for each fight.

But that's not nearly enough...

Are you a business owner who refuses to submit to the threat of lawsuits by defeating the Gay Bill of Special Rights?

Or are you a parent or grandparent who desperately wants to protect the innocence of the next generation by defeating the Homosexual Classrooms Act?

Or are you passionate about preserving the sanctity of REAL marriage by making sure the Offense of Marriage Act NEVER repeals the Defense of Marriage Act?

Please click here right now to give me your personal advice on this fight by completing the Supporter's Poll.

Supporters Poll

Along with your advice, will you help me raise what Public Advocate needs to win?

In order to make sure the Homosexual Classrooms Act NEVER becomes law, I need you and a majority of other pro-Family Americans to make a generous contribution right away.

But there's also the Gay Bill of Special Rights and the Offense of Marriage Act... We have to fight those too!

If you're like me, nothing short of fighting AND DEFEATING every single one of these bills will ever be enough!

Of course, fighting just one will cost precious resources.

In fact, if I'm to effectively defeat even one of these bills, I'm going to need an immediate influx of funds.

That's why along with your advice, I desperately need you to send in an emergency contribution of $35, $25, $15 or even $10.

I've calculated that winning every one of these battles will require you and other supporters to give $25, or even $35 each.

I am terrified of letting even a single one of these bills pass through into law...

I'm hoping you say to fight them all!

Can I count on you to give today to stop their entire agenda?

If that's just too much, please give at least $10 or even $15 along with your Supporters Poll letting me know which battle is most important to you.

Please don't delay.  We don't have much time.

Thank you, in advance.

Sincerely,

Eugene Delgaudio
President, Public Advocate of the United States
