Flames on the streets of Damascus

Jan. 5 - Amateur video shows aftermath of a car bomb in a district of the Syrian capital a day ahead of address by Assad. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

A car burns on the streets of Damascus, after a bomb explodes inside the vehicle. There were no initial reports that anyone was killed or injured in the blast. The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters comes as President Bashar Assad has signaled he will make a major speech Sunday. More footage appears to show an air strike in a suburb of Damascus. Syria's war, is the longest and deadliest of the conflicts that arose out of the Spring. Smoke pours from a building on the ground -- another legacy of a conflict that has claimed at least 60,000 lives. Rebels have made big advances in the past six months -- but their control is limited by Assad's air power.

Isaiah 17: Destruction of Damascus

In the last days, the Bible tells us of a horrible series of events that will take place in the lands of Israel and Syria. One of these events is the disappearance of Damascus as one of the premiere cities in the world. The oldest continuously inhabited city on the planet, Damascus has witnessed at least 5,000 years of human history, and some historians believe the city actually dates back to the seventh millennium BC. In fact, Paul was on the road to Damascus when Christ first appeared to Him, an event that transformed not only his life, but the course of human history.

In the very near future, Damascus will once again play a major role in human events. The prophet Isaiah provides us with God's commentary on a future conflict between Damascus and Israel, and in so doing, he reveals certain prophecies which have been partially fulfilled in the past. However, the ultimate fulfillment of Isaiah 17 remains in the future. The current existence of Damascus, which will one day cease to be a city, as well as the historical absence of the coalition of nations prophesied to attack Israel and be destroyed by God, is proof that Isaiah 17 prophesies events yet future.

Isaiah 17

King James Version (KJV)

1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the Lord of hosts.
And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.
And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.
Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the Lord God of Israel.
At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.
In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.
10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:
11 In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!
13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.
14 And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.

March for Life on January 25, 2013

National Pro-Life Alliance

On January 22nd 1973 the Supreme Court handed down abortion-on-demand with their infamous decision on Roe v. Wade.

Every year since then, in what has become known as the "March for Life" pro-lifers gather at our nation's capitol to memorialize that decision and protest the devastating aftermath.

The very first March had 25,000 activists in attendance.

Since then it has grown exponentially, to a regular participation of hundreds of thousands of activists, with young people coming out in droves.

If you've ever been to one, you know it's an inspiring sight.

And there is a mostly untold story of many hundreds of thousands of concerned Americans, who can't come to Washington each year for the march, because of work, family or other duties.

But they pray in vigils to send off the marchers, they gather at places of worship, they fast and pray as they tend to their daily tasks, schoolchildren at their desks, and much more.

No one but God knows just how many people are part of the March without being there. But it is a vast number, I am convinced.

Which is why I'm inviting you to join the National Pro-Life Alliance staff, myself, our volunteers and a host of other pro-lifers at this years March for Life. Click here to let me know that you're coming.

This coming March for Life (on January 25, 2013) will be particularly significant for a couple of reasons.

First, it will be the 40th anniversary since the Supreme Court legalized abortion-on-demand.

Second, this March will also have the most pro-abortion president in History sitting in the White House.

His first four years in office have made his agenda very clear -- he has already given the abortion lobby free reign of the White House and our taxpayer dollars.

And thanks to this most recent election, he was just guaranteed four more years to continue his abortion-on-demand agenda.

Barack Obama has made it clear that he will do everything in his power to advance abortion even further.

You and I must make sure the politicians know that not only are the eyes of the American people on them, but also that we will not tolerate any move to support the president's abortion agenda.

Which is why I am inviting you to join me and my staff at the March for Life this year.

Click here to let me know that you're coming so that I can fill you in on where to meet us.

It would be an honor to personally meet you and the other members who have made all of the progress we've made together possible.

This year the March will be held on Friday, January 25th on the Mall. More details of where your National Pro-Life Alliance will be meeting will be forthcoming, so save the date and click here to make sure that you receive all the details.

We will be doing more than just marching, however. We will also be collecting petitions to add support for the Life at Conception Act.

Which is why I pray that if you are able that you'll join us. A Life at Conception Act would legislatively overturn Roe v. Wade and ultimately put an end to abortion-on-demand.

Please click here to let me know that you're coming and I'll fill you in with the rest of the details as we get closer to the March for Life.

For Life,

Martin Fox, President
National Pro-Life Alliance

P.S. As we approach the 40th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, The most pro-abortion president in history sits in the White House. As pro-lifers we must take every opportunity to recruit new members and build even greater support for the Life at Conception Act.

Because without serious pressure from pro-lifers, wavering Members of Congress are likely to cave to Obama and the abortion lobby's demands. Please click here to let me know that you're coming so I can keep you informed.

And even if you can't attend, please chip in with a contribution by clicking here. Your National Pro-Life Alliance is entirely dependent on voluntary contributions to keep our vital programs running. We receive no government funding.

Facebook Is Actively Censoring Conservative Bloggers

The problem appears when Facebook decides someone is posting to different pages too fast.

Diane Sori, who blogs at the Patriot Factor, told Examiner Thursday that she received the warning before being blocked for two days. When asked, Sori said she has been blocked five or six times before.

After seeing other conservatives complain about the same thing, we decided to put it to the test.
Sure enough, after posting to a few sites, we received the warning to slow down.

We took Facebook's advice and waited a half hour to post something else. After one post, we received the message again. After inserting the code, we immediately got a message that we had been blocked for two days. We contacted Facebook about the problem, but got no response.

According to Sori, this is only happening to conservative bloggers. We spent some time looking for liberal bloggers complaining about the same thing, but did not find any.

Sori told Examiner that the "free speech Nazis" at Facebook began blocking posts after the fiscal cliff vote.

"Facebook denied us our right to free speech by NOT allowing us to post our thoughts on the Fiscal Cliff fiasco of Tuesday night," she said in a direct message. "That," she said, "was the theme our blogs had in common."

This is not the first time the social media giant has been accused of censoring conservative speech. In late December, Infowars reported that Facebook began purging sites supportive of the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

"NaturalNews.com’s Mike Adams contacted us to alert us to the fact that 'Facebook banned our account for posting this,' with an attached image of a Gandhi quote about how the British disarmed the citizenry during their rule in India," Paul Joseph Watson wrote on Dec. 27.

Watson also said that Facebook had suspended user accounts "that questioned the official narrative behind the Sandy Hook school massacre."

During the election, Facebook came under fire for censoring an anti-Obama message put out by Special Operations Speaks (SOS), a group of Special Operations veterans and supporters who did not support Obama's re-election.

A website called facebookcensorship.com documents what it says are attacks against conservatives and Christians dating back to 2010.

Sori told Examiner that conservatives do have alternatives to Facebook.

WepluribUs, The Dryer Report, Freedom Torch, Freedom Connector, and Tea Party Community all give grassroots conservatives a place to gather where they can be free from Facebook censorship.
