60,000 to 100,000 dead fish wash up eastern shores of U.S. near Chesapeake Bay

MARYLANDSomething’s rotten on the Baltimore area waterfront. Fish are washing ashore by the thousands in a mass die-off that officials say appears to be caused by a weather-driven worsening of the pollution that chronically plagues the Chesapeake Bay. State investigators expanded their probe Wednesday into what they believe are algae-related fish kills in Marley, Furnace and Curtis creeks in Glen Burnie, raising the estimated death toll there tenfold, while finding a new batch of finny carcasses in a Dundalk creek. Jay Apperson, spokesman for the Maryland Department of the Environment, said the agency’s fish-kill investigators estimated anywhere from 60,000 to 100,000 fish of several species dead in the three creeks in northern Anne Arundel County. Only a day before, Apperson had said investigators figured there were about 6,000 dead. “You could smell it through the neighborhood,” said Rob Rogers, 45, who took a break from work at the Point Pleasant Beach Tavern to describe what he called “unbelievable” conditions on the creeks. Rogers said boaters reported dead fish floating in the water so thick they couldn’t avoid hitting them. The state investigators also found about 300 dead fish in Bullneck Creek in eastern Baltimore County, Apperson said, where residents on Tuesday had reported seeing fish and crabs thrashing on the water’s surface in apparent distress. The investigators measured little oxygen in the creek’s deepest water for fish to breathe. The die-offs are a drastic byproduct of algae blooms that have discolored water in much of the upper bay for over a month now, officials said. “We’ve been having lots of algae blooms in Middle River, in Baltimore harbor, even down on the Severn River,” said Thomas Parham, tidewater ecosystem assessment chief for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. “This is earlier than normal,” he added, and while algae blooms are a common phenomenon on the bay in spring and summer, they normally are “not at this level.” –Baltimore Sun

Fukushima radiation cover-up continues - here's how to protect yourself

by: PF Louis

radiation(NaturalNews) It's not just Fukushima, though that may be enough. The northern hemisphere especially had been inundated with radioactive fallout by atmospheric nuclear weapons testing from 1950 to 1963. The Nevada testing area alone produced 1200 nuclear explosions that emitted radioactive particles across the USA.

The Chernobyl incident in 1986 affected hundreds of thousands throughout Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia. The boom in nuclear reactor power plants had already started and was constantly increasing, along with considerable radiation leaking.

A 1996 international court interpretation of international treaties opened the door for widespread use of depleted uranium (DU) that had been prohibited for use as ammunition projectiles that could pierce armor. Tons of DU ammunition has been used in Bosnia and the Mideast since, leaving a radioactive mess that will last for life times.

Depleted uranium is a deceptive term. It is basically what's left after enriched uranium is used for reactors. But DU cannot be used in reactors anymore. DU is still highly radioactive, so using it for ammunition creates a lucrative industry instead of an expensive toxic waste disposal issue.

Part of DU's effectiveness is the fact that DU projectiles ignite on impact and penetrate armor. But that process also functions to emit radioactive vapors and particles in the immediate area, which accumulates in the environment and contaminates locally for life times as well as getting carried by winds for miles to contaminate elsewhere.

The point of this lengthy introduction is to make you aware that we have been and continue to be immersed in excess radioactivity from several sources. Fukushima has added more dangerous radioactivity, but corporate-government-media officials deny its dangers.

What must we do?

Forget trying to influence governments, the nuclear power industry and military industrial complex, or the mainstream media. They have circled their vested interest wagons, denied the dangers, and ignored the solutions. We have to take radiation protection upon ourselves.

Vitamin C: This antioxidant is effective against radiation. Radioactive atoms (radionuclides) have missing electrons that they replace by stealing electrons from other atoms causing cellular and DNA damage. That's oxidation in a nutshell. An antioxidant gives those atoms the electrons they need, thus neutralizing oxidative stress.

It's not easy swallowing 10 grams total of ascorbic acid at intervals daily. Injected C or IV C is hard to come by. Here's a way to maximize cellular absorption of vitamin C without force feeding to the point of diarrhea or injection and IV intake - check out the sources (http://www.naturalnews.com/034591_vitamin_C_mega-dose_healing.html).

Vitamin D3: Make sure you supplement with vitamin D3, not just D or D2. Despite conventional dermatology's advice, strong sunlight exposure to skin is the safest way to up your D3 blood levels. Despite conventional medicine's standard, 25(OH)D tested D3 levels at 20 nanograms/milliliter are not enough; 50 to 70 ng/mg would be optimum.

Whey: Pure whey provides all the precursors for the master oxidant glutathione, details here (http://www.naturalnews.com/027114_glutathione_antioxidant_GSH.html).

Other neutralizing supplements should include iodine or potassium iodide. Most of us are iodine deficient. Potassium itself works well at inhibiting radionuclides. The sleep supplement melatonin protects against radiation.

Sulfur supplements are recommended, and bicarbonate of soda is also effective at neutralizing radiation in our organs.

Magnesium intake should be increased along with calcium; both are effective at protecting against radiation poisoning.

Superfoods, chlorella and spirulina, have actually been used effectively where radioactive leaks occurred. Kelp is another possibility.

Bentonite clay or zeolite may help rid radionuclides from internal tissues.

Herbs: Those helpful for preventing radioactive poisoning are milk thistle, ginkgo, and rosemary (http://www.naturalnews.com).
