Calls on churches nationwide to open 'basements and halls'
A recent member of President Obama's controversial faith council has offered his parish as sanctuary to Occupy protesters and has called on churches nationwide to similarly open their doors to activists from the anti-capitalist movement.
"It's time to invite the Occupy Movement to church!" wrote Jim Wallis, founder of Sojourners, a ministry professing a devotion to the pursuit of "social justice."
Wallis penned an article in his church's magazine, also called Sojourners, calling for a "church sanctuary for the Occupy movement."
Wallis was appointed in February 2009 to the Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, a White House group replete with advocates for using religion to advance "social justice." Each council appointee serves a one-year term
Wallis reportedly is a spiritual adviser to Obama and has known the president for years.
Writing in his magazine, Wallis suggested that Thanksgiving is the "perfect occasion" for churches to aid the Occupy movement.
"Open our church basements and parish halls as safe places to sleep — shelter and sanctuary as cold weather descends upon many of our cities," he wrote.
"The Occupy movement needs a sanctuary. And what better safe and welcome place could these young people find than with communities of faith?
"As we provide that safe sanctuary for a new generation of protesters who dream of a better world, let us also engage them in the spirituality of the change they seek."
Continued Wallis: "Concentrations of wealth and power, unfairness in our political process, the loss of opportunity – especially for the next generation – and the alarming rise of poverty in the world's richest nation are all fundamental concerns for people of faith.
"So let's invite the young occupiers into our churches and ministries for good conversation and a great meal," he added.
Wallis recommended churches provide turkey dinner to the occupiers, remarking that the protesters are likely sick of pizza.
He blasted New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg for clearing out Zuccotti Park of protesters earlier this week.
"Bloomberg is the poster child for the '1 percent,''' wrote Wallis. "He is the archetypal wealthy man who bought political power, and the uprising in his city to challenge what he himself stands for has made the mayor uncomfortable about the protests since the beginning."
Obama's controversial pastor
Wallis is a socialist activist who has championed communist causes and previously labeled the U.S. "the great captor and destroyer of human life."
The Associated Baptist Press described Wallis as a "politically progressive evangelical and longtime advocate for the poor." The Huffington Post identified him as a "Christian author and social-justice advocate."
Wallis, however, is a longtime socialist advocate whose Sojourners magazine has championed communist causes.
Wallis began his activism as a protester and then later Michigan leader of the Students for a Democratic Society, the 1960s anti-war group from which Bill Ayers' Weather Underground domestic terrorist organization splintered.
Discover the Networks documented that as a theology student, Wallis founded an anti-capitalism magazine called the Post-American, which identified wealth redistribution and government-managed economies as the keys to achieving "social justice."
In 1971, Wallis renamed his magazine Sojourners. He has since served as editor of the publication.
Sojourners' official "statement of faith" urges readers to "refuse to accept [capitalist] structures and assumptions that normalize poverty and segregate the world by class."
Sojourners has published a slew of radicals, including socialist activist Cornel West and James Cone, considered the founder of Black Liberation Theology, which spawned the likes of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor of nearly 20 years.
Wallis' magazine actively lobbied for communist regimes that seized power in Latin America in the late 1970s, including the Sandinista dictatorship in Nicaragua. Sojourners in the 1980s was a fierce opponent of the U.S. nuclear buildup, claiming the policy was "an intolerable evil" irreconcilably at odds with Christianity.

In his 1976 book, "Agenda for Biblical People," Wallis called the U.S. "the great power, the great seducer, the great captor and destroyer of human life, the great master of humanity and history in its totalitarian claims and designs."
Wallis continues to openly support socialism. Along with socialist activist West, Wallis in 1995 founded Call to Renewal, a coalition of religious groups demanding the spread of U.S. wealth to promote "social justice."
White House pushing churches to be 'green'?
Other members of Obama's faith council write for Wallis' Sojourners magazine.
In January, Obama named to his faith council Lynne Hybels, a leader of Willow Creek Church, an inter-denominational, multi-generational megachurch located in a Chicago suburb.
The church is led by Hybels' husband, Bill, a social justice advocate who created the Global Leadership Summit, an international Christian group.
Lynne Hybels' official title at Willow Creek Church is advocate for global engagement. She is also a regular contributor to Sojourners magazine.
She has advocated for the "greenest" church on the planet, while discussing Scripture as it relates to the Palestinians and calling for a fight against American "racial injustice."
Also writing at Sojourners, as WND reported, is Eboo Patel, another member of the White House faith council.
Patel declared that everything he was taught about Christopher Columbus, Thomas Jefferson and American "fairness" and "equality" was wrong.
WND also reported Patel, a Muslim activist from Chicago, compared al-Qaida to what he called Christian "totalitarians" in the U.S. and Jewish "totalitarians" in Israel.
Earlier, WND reported Patel is deeply tied to Weather Underground founder Ayers. Also, Patel has blasted what he calls the "myths" of America – describing them as beliefs that the country is "a land of freedom and equality and justice."
Obama church sanctuary for draft dodgers
Obama himself is not unfamiliar with churches serving as sanctuary for radical protesters.
As WND previously reported, the Hawaii church where Obama attended Sunday school as a boy, First Unitarian, was a far-left activist congregation that may have helped provide the president's initial political education.
While Obama's membership as an adult in the controversial Trinity United Church of Christ has received widespread media attention, almost nothing has been reported about his Sunday school attendance at the Hawaii church.
First Unitarian, a member of the Unitarian Universalist denomination, served as a sanctuary for draft dodgers and was strongly tied to the Students for a Democratic Society, or SDS, during the time Ayers was a leader in that organization. The Weathermen was an offshoot of the SDS.
Andrew Walden, publisher and editor of the Hawaii Free Press, dug up newspaper clippings from that period as well as print editions of "The Roach," an SDS publication describing the group's draft-dodging activism, including at the Unitarian church.
After living from age 7 with his mother and step-father in Indonesia, where he was enrolled as a Muslim in public schools, Obama was sent back to Hawaii at age 11 in 1971 to reside with his grandmother. His mother moved back to Hawaii in 1972 and stayed there until 1977, when she relocated again to Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation.
In his autobiography, "Dreams from My Father," Obama recounts on page 17 moving to Hawaii and being enrolled in the Unitarian church.
When Obama's maternal grandmother died in November 2008, the memorial service, attended by the then-presidential candidate, was held in Honolulu's Unitarian church.
According to an account in the Tampa Tribune, when Obama was reminded at his grandmother's memorial service that he attended the church's Sunday school as a child, his eyes lit up, and he turned to his wife, Michelle, and said, "Hey, that's right. This is where I went to Sunday school."

A complaint filed recently in the Orphans' Court Division of the York County Court of Common Pleas on behalf of the majority of the congregation asks the court to invalidate all decisions made by a "joint board ministry" composed of seven "rogue" members, including York Mayor Kim Bracey.
They are also asking for the keys to the 401 E. Market St. church and unspecified monetary damages.
The complaint was filed in orphans' court, which has jurisdiction over nonprofit corporate governance.
Bracey said Tuesday she is a trustee and longtime member of the church, but said she was unaware of any court proceeding. William F. Hoffmeyer, longtime attorney for the church who represents the seven members, declined to comment on the specific allegations.
"I can say that the terminology in the complaint of quote 'rogue' unquote is completely out of order," he said. "They are the officers, and they've been the officers for many years."
The other six members named in the filing are Robert Roland, Geri Hartzog, Ira Avery Jr. and Benjamin Washington, all trustees; and Carl Jimerson and Mark Scott Sr., both deacons.
According to the complaint, they created a "joint board ministry" to manage church affairs in violation of the church constitution. "There is no basis or authority whatsoever for the creation of the 'joint board ministry,'" the complaint reads.
Benjamin Washington and Jimerson declined comment. Hartzog and Avery did not return calls for comment, and Roland could not be reached.
"You don't build churches on a hate program," Scott said. "I never would have thought any of this stuff would be going on here."
Congregant Stanley Washington said the problems began mid-summer when the seven members tried to give the Rev. Melvin R. Baber a salary increase.
Church clerk Carolyn Ray said Baber was paid about $45,000 annually.
Baber declined the raise, telling them they didn't have the authority to make that decision, said Stanley Washington, who is Benjamin Washington's brother.
"Each and every time they tried to overstep their bounds, (Baber) stopped them and said, 'Hey, you can't do that,'" Stanley Washington said. "He was a thorn in their side."
Within weeks, the seven members dismissed Baber and sent him a letter, dated Sept. 20, that advised him he would be charged with trespassing if he tried to enter the church, court documents state.
"Baber has been terminated by the church," Bracey said Tuesday, "but I think that's a personnel matter and a church matter."
The voicemail message at the church indicates that Baber is still pastor.
"My goal is to continue to be the pastor at Friendship Baptist Church," Baber said Tuesday when contacted at home. He declined further comment.
After Baber was dismissed and barred from the church, the seven members locked the doors for a few weeks, the complaint alleges.
"One Sunday, we had church services right outside on the steps," Stanley Washington said.
The congregation held a vote in October, and 85 percent voted to restore Baber as pastor, he added. The church has 162 adult members, and Baber has been its pastor since 2004.
Services have been conducted the past few weeks with a retired pastor brought in by the seven members, Ray said. But other church events, such as Wednesday night Bible study and choir rehearsals, are not taking place because church doors are being locked.
"It's all on their say-so," Ray said. "We have to call them and beg to be let in."
The congregation is represented by attorney C. Edward Browne of Nikolaus and Hohenadel, a Lancaster law firm.
Friendship Baptist Church is congregationally led, he explained, and its bylaws state that only the church as a whole can dismiss a pastor.

What's next

Foreign Ministry reports circulating in the Kremlin today are warning that an already explosive situation in the United States is about to get a whole lot worse as a new law put forth by President Obama is said capable of seeing up to 500,000 American citizens jailed for the crime of opposing their government.
Sparking the concern of Russian diplomats over the growing totalitarian bent of the Obama government is the planned reintroduction of what these reports call one of the most draconian laws ever introduced in a free society that is titled “The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act”.
First introduced in the US Congress in 2007 by Democratic Representative Jane Harmon, this new law passed the US House of Representatives by a secretive voice vote, but failed to pass the US Senate, after which it was believed dead until this past week when it was embraced by Obama who became the first American President to name his own citizens as a threat to his Nations security.
In what is called the National Security Strategy document, that is required of US Presidents by their Congress, that embraces the dictatorial ideals of the “Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act”, Obama has ordered his Federal police and intelligence forces to begin targeting Americans opposed to him and his radical socialist polices.
Obama’s top counter-terrorism advisor, John Brennan, in speaking to reporters about this new “strategy” says it makes the problem of home-grown terrorists a top priority because an increasing number of individuals in the US have become “captivated by extremist ideology or causes.”
The Times of London is further reporting that Obama’s new National Security Strategy “officially” ends America’s “War on Terror” in what they call “a sweeping repudiation of the Bush doctrine of pre-emptive military strikes.”
And as Obama begins re-focusing his forces from fighting America’s foreign enemies, to those opposed to him in his own country, it is important to remember the warning about this new law given by the former CIA official, Philip Giraldi, who had previously warned of the Bush-Cheney plan to attack Iran with nuclear weapons, and who said:

Another irony apparently lost upon the American people is that their President Obama, who has been dubbed “The Great Communicator”, now holds the dubious distinction of having held less press conferences than any American President in modern history. And if yesterday’s press conference, his first in nearly a year, was any example one can see why as incredulous press corps was left astounded that Obama had no knowledge of the firing/resignation of one of his top officials.
In all of these events one fact, beyond all others, stands out….in what was once called “The Land of the Free, And the Home of the Brave”…..the United States today has become “The Land Of Slave, And the Home of the Coward”….and these Americans have only themselves to blame.

Churches not "safe" for foster kids?
After 90 years of operations Catholic Charities of Illinois has been banned from caring for needy foster kids.
They are being forced to close their doors because they refuse to support the bankrupt values of the radical Homosexual Lobby.
You see, earlier this year Illinois legalized Homosexual “Marriage” and now radical homosexuals want to force everyone to embrace and promote the homosexual lifestyle, even Churches!
Shortly after passage of homosexual “marriage,” Illinois started forcing Christian foster care and adoption groups to send their vulnerable children into the clutches of homosexual “couples.”
Knowing that marching their foster children into homes with sexual deviants was immoral and illegal, the Catholic Charities refused and filed legal suits to stop the state.
But that didn’t stop the radicals from immediately taking the children and giving them to amoral agencies who happily delivered them sexual perverts.
And even if the Catholic Charities are able to work their way through the political red tape and win in court, it will be too late for the children already stolen.
If the radical Homosexuals prevail they will use homosexual “marriage” to invade every state and every institution in the nation!
They will force all adoption and foster care groups to hand their children over to homosexual “couples,” to be raised in their radical ideology.
Soon, they will even invade our churches and force our priests to promote their “lifestyle.”

A hearing, with the apparent support of two state lawmakers, is scheduled before the New Hampshire Ballot Law Commission to hear a complaint filed by Orly Taitz that alleges Barack Obama has used fraudulent documents and a fraudulent Social Security number.
The hearing is scheduled Friday at 2 p.m. in Room 307 of the New Hampshire Legislative Office Building, and Taitz is encouraging the public to be present.
The state holds the first presidential primary Jan. 10, 2012.
On her website, Taitz said state Rep. Harry Accornero had said he was joining in her complaint, and she expects Rep. Larry Rappoport also to be in attendance. The lawmakers could not be reached immediately for comment.
"Let's hope the elections board of New Hampshire will have the decency to refuse [to allow] Obama to appear on the ballot due to undeniable evidence of him using a stolen [Connecticut Social Security Number] … and due to the fact that he is using a computer generated forgery instead of a valid birth certificate," Taitz wrote.
She noted that the election code in the state contains a statement that requires a candidate to swear to his qualification to be president pursuant to Article II, Section 1, Clause 4 of the United States Constitution, which states, "No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of president."
Taitz has been involved in a long list of high-profile cases over the past few years that have challenged Obama's eligibility under the Constitution's requirement that the president be a natural-born citizen. Some believe that means a birth in the United States, and they doubt the validity of the image of a Hawaiian Certificate of Live Birth that Obama released in April.
Others say natural-born means both parents must be citizens at the time of the birth. Under that standard, Obama could not qualify, because his father was a student in the U.S. but not a citizen.
The complaint alleges that Obama is ineligible because "he never provided any documentary evidence of his natural born status."
Further, "The most staggering evidence is Mr. Obama's lack of a valid Social Security number and his use of a fraudulently obtained Social Security number from the state of Connecticut, a state where he never resided, which was never assigned to Obama, according to E-Verify," the complaint states.
It alleges not only is the Obama birth documentation a modern printout, there are numerous experts who attest it is fraudulent.
"Taitz received an affidavit from scanning machines expert Douglas Vogt. … It shows further evidence of forgery, such as different types of ink used. Some of the document shows as gray scale scanning, some as black and white scanning, some color. It shows different types of letters and kerning … numerous other parameters lead to the same conclusion, that the document in question is not a copy of a 1961 type written document, but a computer generated forgery, created by cutting and pasting bits and pieces from different documents and filling in the blanks with computer graphics," the document explains.
"Obama does not have an valid identification papers, which are necessary to be a candidate on the ballot, running for the U.S. presidency, based upon New Hampshire elections law 655-17 and on Article 1, section 2 of the U.S. Constitution," Taitz wrote.
"This case shows an unprecedented level of corruption and lawlessness in the federal government and in the government of Hawaii, which allowed Obama to get on the ballot in 2008. … Petitioner demands removal of Obama from the ballot in the state of New Hampshire in the Democrat party primary and demands immediate criminal prosecution of Obama and his accomplices for elections fraud, common law fraud and uttering of forged documents."
Meanwhile, Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County in Arizona has assigned a special cold case team to investigate the possibility that Obama could use fraudulent documents to apply for the Arizona ballot next year.
He's said the investigators have accumulated thousands of pages of evidence and his report likely will come early in 2012.

Officials running a federal program that is considering redefining death are going to be seeking further public comment after members of the Christian Medical Association raised alarms about several problems, including what they believe would be an open door to pressure families to donate organs before their loved one has died.
The proposal could move the federal government closer into alignment with what has been proposed by longtime Barack Obama adviser Cass Sunstein.
Obama's "regulatory czar" was revealed in 2009 to have pushed strongly for the removal of organs from those who did not give their consent to becoming an organ donor.
In his book, "Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth and Happiness," Sunstein and co-author Richard Thaler presented the possibility of the "routine removal" of organs because "the state owns the rights to body parts of people who are dead or in certain hopeless conditions, and it can remove their organs without asking anyone's permission."
"Though it may sound grotesque, routine removal is not impossible to defend," he wrote. "In theory, it would save lives, and it would do so without intruding on anyone who has any prospect for life."
He also has argued for presumed consent, the idea that anyone who has not left specific orders against organ donation is a voluntary contributor to the program, a plan that has been proposed in some state legislatures as recently as the last few years.
A spokeswoman for the the operators of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network told WND that a new round of public comments will be heard regarding the issue that the CMA said would allow those caring for critically ill patients to start considering them for their potential to donate organs while they remain alive.
"Gone [would be] the crucial wall separating patient care from donation solicitations," said a letter this week from the chief of the CMA. "Such undue influence on difficult decisions at a heart-wrenching time is ethically unacceptable."
The letter was from Dr. David Stevens, the CEO of the Christian Medical Association, to John Lake, the president of the OPTN, which is run under contract by a company called UNOS, the United Network for Organ Sharing.
At issue are proposed changes to various definitions and standards that the nationwide organ-donation coordination program uses.
The CMA said the first was the removal of an important stipulation "separating patient care from donation solicitations."
"Previously the hospital's primary healthcare team and the legal next of kin must have decided to withdraw ventilated support or other life-sustaining treatment before the patient may be evaluated as a DCD [donation after cardiac death] candidate," the letter warned.
"Under the proposed policy a patient may be evaluated as a DCD candidate prior to a decision by family members and caregivers, which ought to be free from external pressure."
The proposed language change specifically would instruct, "A potential DCD donor should be evaluated by the primary healthcare team and the local OPPO to determine if the candidate meets the following criteria:"
Those included irreversible disease or "end-stage musculoskeletal disease."
The changes also call for a plan for patient care "in the event that death does not occur within the established time period after the withdrawal of life-sustaining medical treatment or ventilated support."
And the proposed changes involve the deletion of a long section of guidelines on defining "irreversibility."
Those said that irreversibility is a "persistent cessation of function during an appropriate period of observation." It also says "donor death occurs when respiration and circulation have ceased and cardiopulmonary function will not resume spontaneously."
"The removal of the requirement of 'irreversibility' of cardiopulmonary cessation exposes patients to potential exploitation," the CMA letter said. "CMA is concerned that relaxing the definition of death would considerably increase the risk that procedures to remove vital organs would be performed on some patients lacking unambiguous signs that death has occurred. CMA is also concerned about the impact that publicized abuses of the new policy could have on the public's trust in transplant medicine and their willingness to volunteer as future organ donors," the CMA letter said.
A spokeswoman for the OPTN program said the organization would be distributing requests for comment and accepting those statements in preparation for consideration of the changes sometime during 2012.
Steven's letter also expressed that the "model elements" that previously had been recommended were to be made "mandatory," and further, "The proposed requirements broaden donor criteria to include patients without cognitive neurological injury. As physicians, we are greatly concerned that patients with chronic illnesses such as spinal cord injury or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) would be vulnerable to real or perceived pressure to decline further treatment in order to donate their organs…" he continued.
"The unintended consequences of the proposed requirements would be antithetical to the ethical practice of medicine. By loosening previous stricter guidelines, by eliminating vital safeguards and by failing to clarify key criteria, the proposed requirements signal that hospitals and healthcare professionals can now relax ethical concerns and safeguards in favor of pursuing a utilitarian 'higher good' of obtaining a greater number of organs for transplant," the CMA letter said.
"We believe that such a change in emphasis, however subtle, would erode the ethical practice of medicine by promoting a culture of utilitarianism or casualness regarding life and death decisions," the statement said.
"If physicians conscientiously opposed to such policies were forced to retire from the practice of critical care medicine rather than participate in them, society would lose many dedicated, skilled and compassionate caregivers."
The government proposal makes clear its intentions: "The proposed changes will help to maximize the number of donors and transplants by identifying the currently unrealized donor potential."
The doctors' concern, however, was found a few pages later: "A controlled Donation after Circulatory Death donor is a donor whose life support will be withdrawn and whose family has given written consent for organ donation in the controlled environment of the operation room."
