Japan finds rice needing thorough radiation test
TOKYO (Reuters) – Japan found the first case of rice with radioactive materials far exceeding a government-set level for a preliminary test of pre-harvested crop, requiring thorough inspection of the rice to be harvested from the region, the farm ministry said late on Friday.
The ministry said radioactive cesium of 500 becquerels per kg was found in a sample of the pre-harvested rice in Nihonmatsu city, in Fukushima Prefecture, 56 km (35 miles) east of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant which was crippled by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, triggering the world's worst nuclear disaster in 25 years.
The ministry said the Fukushima Prefecture will expand the inspection spots nearly ten-fold to around 300 areas.
It is the first case in Japan of rice containing radioactive cesium exceeding 200 becquerels per kg, a level which requires further thorough testing of the area for the harvested rice.
The government introduced inspection guidelines in August, with preliminary tests followed by more before approving shipments.
If preliminary tests found rice to contain radioactive cesium levels of 200 becquerels per kg or more, the crop will be tested more thoroughly before approvals are made for shipments.
If the level of cesium in rice exceeded the government-imposed cap of 500 becquerels per kg, shipments from locally produced rice will be halted.
So far, no rice crop has been banned for shipments.
If the follow-up tests of rice harvested from Nihonmatsu city find radioactive materials exceeding the government-imposed cap, it would deal a huge blow to Japan.
The country has been struggling to regain public trust in the safety of nuclear power so it can resume operations of nuclear reactors to supply energy as well as food safety after wide-ranging products from water to vegetables were found with radiation contamination.

School Punishes Boy for Opposing Homosexuality
There is no doubt the Homosexual Lobby is waging a war for your children and grandchildren.
And the battlefield is the American Classroom.
Just this week a Texas high school suspended a student for saying he was a Christian and "being a homosexual is wrong.”
He made the comment because his teacher, who was supposed to be teaching German, forced them all to discuss the morality of homosexuality.
This teacher has a long track record of forcing his leftist agenda onto students.
For this teacher, dissent or disagreement is not allowed. His students are required to be pro-homosexual and accept their perverted lifestyle.
And when he overheard 14-year old Dakota express his opinion on morality, the teacher threw Dakota out of his class and sent him to the principal’s office!
Even worse, the school immediately suspended Dakota for several days.
This is an outrage!
The radical Homosexual Lobby is trying to outlaw any dissent to their agenda.
They are using schools all over the country to intimidate teachers and students who believe in morality and the Family.
In just the past year...
...They have tried to pass laws that would force schools to teach children to embrace homosexuality.
...They mandated Lesbian role models for Californian students.
...They tried to stop Tennessee from passing a law limiting classes to only teach the biology of reporduction and leave controversial topics like homosexuality to parents and families.
...They fought to create Thought Control over every child in America.
They have created an environment of fear and oppression.
They want to scare us so that we will not speak out against their perversion.
They have supporters in so many places, cronies who are desperately eager to attack anyone for being Pro-Family.
The Homosexual Lobby is trying to gain complete and total control over our society.
But I will never stop fighting for the Family and morality.
With your help, Public Advocate will take back our classrooms and make it safe for students like Dakota to speak freely.
I am happy to say that the school has already reversed their outrageous decision and ended Dakota’s punishment due to the over whelming outcry from Americans fed up with this nonsense.
But the fight does not end there. I need your support to fight back the tide of radical homosexual influence.
Together, we can save our classrooms and our children!
For the Family,
Eugene Delgaudio

Rolling off the 3D printing press... the world's first 'printed' car - and it actually works
Rolling off the 3D printing press... the world's first 'printed' car - and it actually works
By
Daniel Bates
The world’s first 'printed' car has finally rolled off the printing press.
The 'Urbee' was made using a special printer which built up layer upon layer of bodywork - almost as if the car was 'painted' into existence, except using layers of ultra-thin composite that are slowly 'fused' into a solid.
But unlike most 'innovations' in cars, this one won't break down after 5 years - Urbee is built to last 30. Project leader Jim Kor, told MailOnline today: 'For us, this unveiling was quite a milestone.
Built to last: The highly-durable material used in 'additive layer manufacturing' is said to last for 30 years
Underneath is a petrol and electric hybrid engine which helps make it one of the greenest cars in the world.
Experts have said the car uses eight times less energy than a similar vehicle and can go can go 200mpg on the motorway.
It also has a sleek, futuristic design which makes it look like a prop from a science fiction film like the Fifth Element.
The ‘printing’ process, however, it what has attracted so much attention: it was completely different to the normal way car manufacturers build a car, which is to bolt chunks of bodywork on where they need to go.
Engineers on the Urbee instead put layers of ultra thin composite material on top of each other so they become fused together to make it 3D in a process called ‘additive layer manufacturing’.
Kor says, 'We are a small group of designers and engineers in Winnipeg trying to make a difference.
'Making things this way could revolutionize how we produce things. It has certainly changed my way of thinking about manufacturing.
'This process of 3-D printing turned into 'digital manufacturing' would change the way we replace parts within machines.'
The 'printed' car has drawn a lot of attention due to its unique production method
The Urbee, which took 15 years to make, has three wheels, two seats and a combustion engine in case of emergencies.
It can be charged for a few pence from a normal plug socket or from a small solar panel array or wind turbine.
The Urbee has a small single cylinder engine that generate a mere eight horsepower, yet it can go up to 70mph if necessary because it is so light and efficient.
Even driving around the city it can do 100mpg and Canadian firm Kor EcoLogic, which designed it, insists that it could become a viable runaround for normal people.
Project leader Jim Kor told the TEDxWinnipeg conference that the vehicle was amongst the greenest ever made.
He said the way it was printed ‘only puts material where one needs it’.
‘It is an additive process, building the part essentially one 'molecule' of material at a time, ultimately with no waste,’ he added.
The small engine of the Urbee may only be able to produce 8 horsepower, but the vehicle can still reach 70mph
‘This process can do many materials, and our goal would be to use fully-recycled materials.’
Although the prototype has finally been completed it will be some time before the Urbee is available to buy in car showrooms.
The team behind it still have to raise the money for a second prototype, which will be at least $1million (£610,000).
Even then it will cost up to $50,00 (£32,000) to buy new, although the price should drop if it is mass produced.
Other professions which have shown an interest in additive layer manufacturing including medicine with some suggestion that prosthetic body parts could eventually be ‘printed’ to the size and shape they are required.

Jaycee Dugard sues US government over 18-year captivity
She said the federal government had been responsible for Garrido's parole supervision in the period between his release from jail in 1988, and 1999 when the state of California took over responsibility. Both the federal and state governments were therefore negligent, according to the complaint.

In a complaint filed in a San Francisco court, Miss Dugard claims federal
parole officers did not properly monitor her abductor Phillip Garrido.
The complaint said their errors in the handling of Garrido were as "outrageous
and inexcusable as they are numerous."
Garrido, a registered sex offender, was on parole when he kidnapped Miss
Dugard in 1991, when she was 11 years old. She was held in a shed in his
back garden in Antioch, California, and eventually freed in 2009.
Miss Dugard, now aged 31, is seeking unspecified damages from the US
government. Any compensation she receives will be donated to a charity, the
JAYC Foundation, which supports other victims of abductions and their
families.
She and the two daughters Garrido fathered by her have already received a $20
million settlement from the state of California.
In April a judge sentenced Garrido to 431 years in prison. His wife Nancy
Garrido was given a sentence of 36 years to life.
In a statement Miss Dugard's spokeswoman said the new legal action followed
two requests for private mediation, which had been rejected by the US
government.
She said the federal government had been responsible for Garrido's parole
supervision in the period between his release from jail in 1988, and 1999
when the state of California took over responsibility. Both the federal and
state governments were therefore negligent, according to the complaint.
Miss Dugard's spokeswoman said: "It goes without saying that what Jaycee
went through in any one week of her 18-year captivity is more horrifying
than most people will experience in their lifetime."
