Obama-Sharpton Dirty-Masonic Handshake?
Yet another get together of celebrities gathered around lip service to the concept of civil/human rights.Read more at continuingcounterreformation.blogspot.com
As reported by The New York Daily News:It was a warm handshake that made for an image aimed at the 2012 presidential campaign.
President Obama clutched Al Sharpton's hand and patted him on the back before a speech to the Rev.'s civil rights group - an appearance widely viewed as an effort to shore up African-American support ahead of his reelection bid.
"I am living testament that change is possible," Obama said to cheers at the minister's National Action Network annual conference at the Sheraton New York.
"If you stand with me and believe in what we can together, then we can move this country toward the promise of a better day," said Obama, who spoke to the conference for the first time as President.
"I'm not asking you to...be satisfied with our progress - I know this isn't the National Satisfaction Network, it's the National Action Network."
Sharpton introduced the President by citing a Biblical passage that suggests that "greatness serves others" - and brought Obama to the stage with the title "Servant in Chief."
The ballroom burst into laughter when Obama noted the changes in Sharpton since he founded the group 20 years ago. more

Video: Navy Laser Sets Ship on Fire
With clouds overhead in the salty air, irritable Pacific waves swelled to up to four feet. Perfect conditions, in other words, for the Navy to fry a small boat with a laser beam — a major step toward its futuristic arsenal of ray guns.
Researchers mounted the Maritime Laser Demonstrator, a solid-state laser, aboard the USS Paul Foster, a decommissioned destroyer. Off the central California coast near San Nicholas Island on Wednesday, the laser fired a 15-kilowatt beam at an inflatable motorboat a mile away as both ships moved through the sea. As the above video shows, there was a flash on the boat’s outboard engines, igniting both of them in seconds, and leaving the ship dead in the choppy waters.
All previous tests of the laser have come on land — steady, steady land — aside from an October test of the targeting systems. But for the first time, the Office of Naval Research has proven that its laser can operate in a “no-kidding maritime environment,” says its proud director, Rear Adm. Nevin Carr.
“I spent my life at sea,” Carr says in an interview with Danger Room, “and I never thought we’d see this kind of progress this quickly, where we’re approaching a decision of when we can put laser weapons on ships.”
Fewer than three years after the Navy awarded Northrop Grumman a contract worth up to $98 million to build the Maritime Laser Demonstrator, it’s proven able to cause “catastrophic failure” on a moving target at sea the first time out, says Quentin Saulter, one of ONR’s top laser gurus.
“When we were doing the shot and the engine went, there was elation in the control room,” he says. “It’s a big step, a proof of principle for directed energy weapons.”
The Navy hopes that by the next decade, solid state lasers — which generate powerful beams of light by running electrons through crystals or glass — will be aboard its surface ships, disabling enemy vessels and eventually burning incoming missiles out of the sky. That latter goal will take at least 100 kilowatts of power.
But a beam in the tens of kilowatts, ONR proved this week, is deadly, accurate and, Carr says, “can be operated in existing power levels and cooling levels on ships today.”
Solid state lasers are just the beginning. The Navy’s also working on a much more powerful Free Electron Laser weapon thanks to ONR’s research. That laser works across multiple wavelengths, compensating for debris in the sea air, to cut through 20 feet of steel per second once it gets up to megawatt class. Its electron injectors are ahead of schedule and ONR expects it to be ready in the 2020s, though after its solid state cousins are operative.
Next up will be to “develop the tactics, the techniques, the procedures and the safety procedures that sailors are going need to develop” to wield laser weapons, Carr says. And then it’s time to scale up the laser’s power.
“This is an important data point,” the admiral says, “but I still want the Megawatt death ray.”
Update: Corrected the strength of the megawatt-class FEL after an earlier miscommunication with the Office of Naval Research.

The memo that 'proves aliens landed at Roswell'... released online by the FBI
The memo that 'proves aliens landed at Roswell'... released online by the FBI
A bizarre memo that appears to prove that aliens did land in New Mexico prior to 1950 has been published by the FBI.
The bureau has made thousands of files available in a new online resource called The Vault.
Among them is a memo to the director from Guy Hottel, the special agent in charge of the Washington field office in 1950.
Proof of (alien) life? A copy of the 1950 memo that recounts the discovery of flying saucers and aliens in New Mexico. The memo has been published on the FBI website
In the memo, whose subject line is 'Flying Saucers', Agent Hottel reveals that an Air Force investigator had stated that 'three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico'.
The investigator gave the information to a special agent, he said. The FBI has censored both the agent and the investigator's identity.
Agent Hottel went on to write: 'They were described as being circular in shape with raised centers, approximately 50 feet in diameter.
'Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only 3 feet tall,' he stated.
The bodies were 'dressed in a metallic cloth of a very fine texture. Each body was bandaged in a manner similar to the blackout suits used by speed flyers and test pilots.'
Was it true? An image allegedly showing one of the aliens that were autopsied at Roswell in 1947
He said that the informant, whose identity was censored in the memo, claimed the saucers had been found in New Mexico 'due to the fact that the Government has a very high-powered radar set-up in that area and it is believed the radar interferes with teh controlling mechanism of the saucers'.
He then stated that the special agent did not attempt to investigate further.
The release of the secret memo is likely to fuel conspiracy theorists' claims of a government cover-up.
The town of Roswell in New Mexico became infamous after reports that a flying saucer had crashed in the desert near a military base there on or around July 2, 1947.
The bodies of aliens were said to have been recovered and autopsied
by the U.S. military, but American authorities allegedly covered the
incident up
Roswell: Secret memo released online is written to the FBI Director and could confirm the 1947 Roswell UFO incident
Flying saucers: One of the supposed alien victims of the Roswell UFO crash
Military authorities issued a press release, which began: ‘The many rumours regarding the flying disc became a reality yesterday when the intelligence officer of the 509th Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force, Roswell Army Air Field, was fortunate enough to gain possession of a disc.’
The headlines screamed: 'Flying Disc captured by Air Force.' Yet, just 24 hours later, the military changed their story and claimed the object they'd first thought was a 'flying disc' was a weather balloon that had crashed on a nearby ranch.
Amazingly, the media and the public accepted the explanation without question. Roswell disappeared from the news until the late Seventies, when some of the military involved began to speak out.
Another memo published in The Vault from 1947 claimed that an object 'purporting to be a flying disc' had been recovered near Roswell.
The disc was 'hexagonal in shape' and 'suspended from a balloon by a
cable', according to the memo, marked as 'Urgent', to the FBI director.
Autopsy: A dead alien is allegedly examined following the landing at Roswell
The
memo noted that the disc resembled a weather balloon - but claimed that
a telephone conversation between the Air Force and the field office
'had not [word censored] borne out this belief'.
The disc and balloon were being transported to Wright Field for further inspection, the memo noted.

US trains activists to evade security forces
WASHINGTON (AFP) – The United States is training thousands of cell phone and Internet pro-democracy campaigners worldwide to evade security forces in what it calls a "cat-and-mouse game" with authoritarian governments.
The US government is sponsoring efforts to help activists in Arab and other countries gain access to technology that circumvents government firewalls, secures telephone text and voice messages, and prevents attacks on websites.
"This is sort of a cat-and-mouse game and governments are constantly developing new techniques to go after critics, to go after dissenters," said Michael Posner, the assistant US secretary of state for human rights and labor.
"We are trying to stay ahead of the curve and trying to basically provide both technology, training, and diplomatic support to allow people to freely express their views."
Posner told a small group of reporters that the theme of Internet freedom will be "peppered" throughout the State Department's annual report on human rights for 194 countries that is scheduled for release on Friday.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is campaigning hard for freedoms of expression, assembly and association online -- what she calls the world's town square or coffee house of the 21st century.
The chief US diplomat has said the protests in Egypt and Iran fueled by Facebook, Twitter and YouTube reflected "the power of connection technologies as an accelerant of political, social and economic change."

Destroying Minds, Destroying Bodies
In a classically statist move, a Chicago public school has banned lunches brought from home. The Principal of the school, Elsa Carmona, has declared that her students must eat the food served in the cafeteria because she wants to “protect students from their own unhealthful food choices.” There may be a more nefarious reason behind this uncommon concern for the health of public school children (physical, mental or social), but if we take her at her word, then this is yet another example of government officials thinking that they need to protect us stupid citizens (and our stupid kids) from ourselves.
As I have pointed out numerous times in the past, the public school system, in spite of all its high-salaried education specialists, continually fails to effectively educate our kids. There is clearly something wrong with the system when their college educated certified teachers cannot produce better results than homeschool parents who did not graduate from high school. Yet public school advocates often sneer at the mere mention of parents educating their own children, stating time and again that it is arrogance for those parents to assume that they can do a better job than trained teachers. The logical corollary to that statement is that they think parents are too stupid to realize that they cannot effectively teach their children. That may be why they continue to try to get legislators to make laws prohibiting uncertified parents from teaching their own kids.
Because the public schools think parents are too stupid to educate their kids, it should come as little surprise that they also think parents are too stupid to feed their kids as well. The arrogance of these public employees is all the more remarkable when there is ample evidence (if anyone cared to look) that public school lunches are unhealthy and deleterious to kids’ health. A Chicago Public School teacher was so concerned that she started a blog to protest the low quality of the city’s school lunches. Likewise, Jamie Oliver, a celebrity chef who crusades for healthier food in school has documented well his difficulty in getting public schools to admit that they are essentially poisoning students. Most recently Los Angeles Unified School District preemptively banned him from entering their schools. It appears that they were not interested in finding out just how terrible their cafeteria food is. Perhaps there really is something more nefarious going on here?
Do these public officials really care about our kids? Are they really protecting kids from their stupid parents? Well, going back to Chicago I would have to say no. According to a 2004 study, 39 percent of Chicago Public School teachers sent their own kids to private schools (compared to about 10 percent of the overall population). Why would the same people who often oppose homeschooling (and school choice programs) not send their own kids to the schools that they teach at? Likewise, although 97% of Democrats in the House of Representatives voted against a popular voucher program in 2007, 37% sent their kids to private schools. Apparently school choice is good for them, just not for the stupid citizenry.* It is no leap of faith to assume that a considerable segment of the anti-homeschooling, anti-choice faction holds that position precisely because they benefit and profit from the status quo.
When it comes to the quality of food in schools, it is not unreasonable to question if similar factors are at play. Why does the public school system push high saturated fat, meat heavy, genetically modified, processed, canned, corn-based foods on our children if they are so concerned about the health of our children? Could there possibly be people who are getting rich off of the system? The answer is yes. When a Chicago parent is prohibited from sending their kid to school with a lunch pail, they are forced to pay $2.25 to keep their child from going hungry. Most of that money, as well as that of the government subsidized free and reduced lunches of poorer families, goes into the pockets of the district’s food provider, Chartwells-Thompson. I wonder if anyone is going to investigate the relationship between the principal/school district and the representatives of Chartwells-Thompson?
Public school advocates as a whole do not care about our children’s education or their health. They are willing to destroy our children’s minds and bodies in order to enrich and strengthen various special interests. On a more positive note, the Chicago public school in question is not entirely tyrannical – they will allow parents to prepare lunches for their children … if they get a doctor’s note!
Read more at buehlereducation.com* Republicans are not that much better when it comes to education freedom. They are stronger supporters of vouchers but at the same time, they still want to control what is being taught in schools and they still want to funnel money to their preferred corporate education special interests. With regard to the DC voucher program, on March 31, 2011, the house voted to reauthorize and expand the program. Of 187 voting Democrats, only one voted for the program.
