The Most Biased AP Story Ever? GOP Brings Back Slavery

It may not be the worst media story ever, but today’s Associated Press story on the Wisconsin government’s attempt to moderately trim unionized state workers’ bloated benefits is certainly the most outrageous case of bias this year. (But as Groucho Marx said, “Well, it’s early yet.”) The non-stop labor union shilling begins with its headline, “Wis. GOP Poised to Cut Worker Rights in Budget Fix.” The Republicans are going to “Cut Worker Rights”? What do they plan to do? The lead sentence tells us, “Wisconsin is poised to strip collective bargaining rights from most of the state’s 175,000 public employees in the boldest step by a new Republican governor and Legislature [sic.] to solve budget problems by confronting organized labor.” (Emphases added.) The “reporter” insinuates to the reader the Republicans are taking unprecedented, radical steps to rob people of their rights and blame the budget on Big Labor. Virtually every sentence of the article advances this biased nonsense.

The AFL-CIOciated Press dutifully reports than 10,000 union drones plain ol’ ordinary citizens marched on the state capital of Madison to discuss the bill’s “impact on middle-class families.”

The story quotes a 29-year-old teacher who moans, “It’s hard to go into a classroom and teach people about a society that’s moving backwards.” A few paragraphs later, the story states that Wisconsin is the birthplace of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), and this move is “a dramatic reversal of Wisconsin’s strong labor history.” See? Republicans are turning back the clock (perhaps to the days when common sense prevailed and budgets were balanced).

After noting unions tried to “sway key moderates” to no avail (Republicans are all extremists), it quotes a Democratic lawmakers’ claim that the GOP-dominated state government “pushed these employees off the cliff.” It calls Governor Scott Walker “an outspoken conservative.” (In AP-speak, that’s bad.)

Australian filmmaker uncovers 3D movies made by Nazis

(NewsCore) - BERLIN -- An Australian filmmaker has been stunned by the technological advances made by Nazi propagandists after uncovering treasure trove of 3D movies, Variety reported Tuesday.

Films shot using 3D technology in pre-war Nazi Germany were discovered in Berlin's Federal Archives.

The two black-and-white 30-minute propaganda films were shot in 1936 -- decades before 3D hit Hollywood in the 1950s.

Australian director Philippe Mora found the films when researching a documentary about how the Nazis used propaganda.

"They were made by an independent studio for Goebbels' propaganda ministry and referred to as 'raum film' -- or space film -- which may be why no one ever realized since that they were 3D," Mora told Variety.

"The quality of the films is fantastic. The Nazis were obsessed with recording everything and every single image was controlled -- it was all part of how they gained control of the country and its people."

One film is a musical called "So Real You Can Touch It" is set in a carnival and features 3D close-ups of sausages on a barbecue.

The other film called "Six Girls Roll Into Weekends" shows young German starlets.

Mora's previous documentary, Swastika, was released in 1973 and showed previously unseen color footage of Adolf Hitler and girlfriend Eva Braun at his retreat.

Astonishing number of citizens don't believe president's story

Shock poll: 'Birthers' rule

BORN IN THE USA?

By Bob Unruh

© 2011 WorldNetDaily

A new poll is shocking the political powers in Washington with indication that only 3 in 10 members of the GOP believe that Barack Obama was born in the United States.

With the issue still disputed in a number of court cases and under review by nearly a dozen states considering laws that presidential candidates document their constitutional eligibility, the poll by Public Policy Polling found that only 28 percent of the Republicans surveyed believe Obama was born in the U.S. while 51 percent do not.

Another 21 percent say they are not sure.

"Any thought that the birther theory has been put to rest can be thrown out the window," Dean Debnam, the president of the Democratic-leaning polling firm, told Politico.

"That view is still widely held in Republican circles," he said.

Chris Matthews, host of "Hardball" on MSNBC, discussed the stunning poll numbers on his program tonight, perplexed by the growing tide of those questioning Obama's eligibility.

It was only a few months after Obama's inauguration that a WND/Wenzel Poll showed that 51.3 percent of Americans said they were aware of the questions raised about Obama's constitutional eligibility for office. Only 18.7 percent said they were not and another 30 percent were unsure.

At that point, 58.2 percent of the GOP said they were aware of the controversy.

Polls since then have shown Americans to be increasingly skeptical of Obama's official narrative:

  • Then in January 2010, another WND/Wenzel Poll revealed on the one-year anniversary of Obama's tenure in office that fully one-third of Americans refused to believe Obama was a "legitimate president," with another 15.8 percent saying they were not sure.

Barely half the voters, 51.5 percent, said they believed the president legitimate even though he had not yet produced the documentation proving his constitutional eligibility. Even 14.6 percent of the Democrats said they did not consider him legitimate.

  • In May 2010, a WND/Wenzel Poll revealed that 55 percent of Americans wanted Obama to release all records relating to his childhood and his education, including "college records, Harvard Law School papers, passport records, travel records, and other similar documentation."

"Asked what should be done should it be found that Obama does not meet the qualifications to be president, 59 percent said he should be removed from office, and 35 percent said all bills signed into law by Obama should be repealed," the poll's analysis revealed.

  • By last June, other media were beginning to put their toes in the waters of the controversy. A 60 Minutes-Vanity Fair poll revealed only 39 percent of respondents believe Obama was born in Hawaii as he claimed in his book.

"A shocking 63 percent – very nearly two-thirds of us – went out on a limb and stated for the record that we believe in the United States. It's enough to make you proud to be an American – or 63 percent proud, at any rate."

But that figure included those who said they believe he was born in Kansas or some other unknown state, which still would conflict with Obama's story.

  • Last August, a poll by CNN said 6 of 10 people were uncertain Obama was born in the U.S. The poll said only 42 percent believe Obama "definitely" was born in the U.S.

The CNN report said that, "Hawaii has released a copy of the president's birth certificate – officially called a 'certificate of live birth.' And in 1961 the hospital where the president was born placed announcements in two Hawaiian newspapers regarding Obama's birth."

However, the online image released by the Obama campaign during his presidential race actually is called a "Certification of Live Birth," and those documents under the rules in the state of Hawaii were available for children not born in the state.

The newest poll from Public Policy Polling revealed 51 percent of 400 Republican primary voters disbelieve Obama's claims to be eligible constitutionally to hold the office of president and another 21 percent said they were not sure.

According to the poll, GOP voters also are putting Mike Huckabee at the top of the national field of candidates  for the GOP nomination for president in 2012, following by Mitt Romney.

The Politico report editorialized: "A 51 percent majority of national GOP primary voters erroneously think President Obama was
not born in the U.S. 28 percent know that he was."

Questions about Obama's eligibility to be president have been exacerbated by his refusal to answer questions and release ordinary background documentation and his extraordinary legal maneuvers to keep his background hidden.

The Constitution requires a president to be a "natural-born citizen," which is not the same as a "citizen."

Fritz Wenzel of Wenzel Strategies has warned, "Simply put, this question about Obama's legitimacy as president is undermining everything he does in the minds of millions of Americans."

Congress Member Claims Loyola Professor Associates With Hate Group

Thomas DiLorenzo

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A Baltimore college professor has been accused of associating with a hate group.  The allegations surfaced during a finance hearing on Capitol Hill.  Adam May examines the claims and the heated rebuttal.

Thomas DiLorenzo is an economics professor at Loyola University in Baltimore.  His credibility was recently questioned during a House subcommittee hearing in Washington by a member of Congress.

“You work for a southern nationalist organization that espouses very radical notions of American history and the federal government,” said Rep. Lacy Clay.  “Doctor DiLorenzo, you are listed on their website as teaching for their League of the South Institute.”

The League of the South believes southern states should secede from the Union, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, a hate group watch dog.

“DiLorenzo is exactly not the kind of guy who should be testifying in Congress.  We don’t want hate groups up there,” said an official. “He’s spoken at events they’ve had as late as 2009.”

In a blog post, DiLorenzo disputes the allegations, writing, “About 13 years ago, three fellow academics asked me if I would deliver a few lectures.  That is the only connection I have ever had with the League of the South.”

He also wrote about the representative who questioned his credibility, calling him “a liar, a bigot and sleazy.”

Loyola University says they are looking into the allegations but so far, they say they haven’t found any close ties between DiLorenzo and the League of the South.

DiLorenzo did not return our email and phone messages asking for comment.

Potential 2012 presidential candidate Ron Paul called DiLorenzo as a witness.  His spokeswoman calls the allegations irrelevant.

Shabbat at Fairfield U. a first for the Jesuit school

Shortly after the sun set Friday, a diverse group of about 50 people gathered at Fairfield University for Kabbalat Shabbat, a Jewish worship service of prayer and song to welcome the Sabbath. It was the first time in the Catholic school’s history that a Shabbat service was held on the campus. It was followed by a Shabbat dinner in which Judaic dietary laws were observed.
