New evidence has recently been discovered relevant to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy that will show who actually planned and carried out his murder. This new evidence will show that the Warren Commission report, which is the government’s final word on the assassination, is a complete cover-up of what actually took place. The following analysis of the assassination will include several events and situations that might not appear to be related to this murder, but will show the extensive intrigue behind it.

While riding in an open motorcade, President Kennedy was shot in Dealy Plaza on Friday, Nov. 22, 1963 at 12:30 p.m. The crowds were cheering. There was a great scene of rejoicing as the president of the United States made his way through downtown Dallas. It seemed as if everyone was smiling in those waving thousands. But presently, shots rang out, and President Kennedy, a short while later, lay dead at the Parkland Memorial Hospital.

This case has baffled people for the last four decades, and is one of the ten most unsolved mysteries of the last one hundred years. The Warren Commission was set up to investigate the assassination, and they concluded that a lone gunman, Lee Harvey Oswald, did it. They claimed that Oswald shot President Kennedy from the Dallas Book Depository building behind his car. But there is rather overwhelming evidence now that disproves the Warren Commission report and points to a massive cover-up and conspiracy behind the assassination. Two days after President Kennedy’s death Jack Ruby murdered Oswald. Why? Was it to keep him from talking? There were basically two main reasons why Kennedy was assassinated. These reasons are involved with the Vietnam War, and the Federal Reserve Bank. President Kennedy sent two aides to Vietnam, McNamara and Taylor, who gathered intelligence that convinced him that the United States needed to withdraw from Vietnam. Their memo to the president was entitled, Report of McNamara-Taylor Mission to South Vietnam. With this report in hand, President Kennedy had what he wanted. It contained the essence of decisions he had to make. He had to get re-elected to finish programs set in motion during his first term; he had to get Americans out of Vietnam. — Col. L. Fletcher Prouty, JFK: The CIA, Vietnam, and The Plot to Assassinate John F. Kennedy, Carol Publishing Group, p. 264. Fletcher Prouty tells us that, On Nov. 22, 1963, the government of the United States was taken over by the superpower group that wanted an escalation of the warfare in Indochina, and a continuing military buildup for generations to come. — Ibid. p. 264. As President Kennedy began to de-escalate American involvement in Southeast Asia, this superpower group was planning his murder. Following Kennedy’s assassination, they made sure that America would remain in Vietnam for a long time. Who was this group? Who wanted us in South Vietnam and why? When we answer these questions, the people behind the assassination of JFK will be known. Avro Manhattan was a British journalist who worked for many years for the British Broadcasting Company. He has written at least 15 books on the role of the Roman Catholic Church in world affairs. In his book, Vietnam: Why Did We Go?, he tells us, The political and military origin of the war of Vietnam has been described with millions of written and spoken words. Yet, nothing has been said about one of the most significant forces which contributed to its promotion, namely, the role played by religion, which in this case, means the part played by the Catholic Church, and by her diplomatic counterpart, the Vatican. Their active participation is not mere speculation. It is an historical fact as concrete as the presence of the U.S., or the massive guerilla resistance of Asian communism. The activities of the last two have been scrutinized by thousands of books, but the former has never been assessed, not even in a summarized form. The Catholic Church must be considered as a main promoter in the origin, escalation and prosecution of the Vietnamese conflict. From the very beginning this religious motivation helped set in motion the avalanche that was to cause endless agonies in the Asiatic and American continents. The price paid was immense: thousands of billions of dollars; the mass dislocation of entire populations; political anarchy; military devastation on an unprecedented scale; the disgrace upon the civilized world; the loss of thousands upon thousands of young Asian and American lives. Last but not least, the wounding, mutilation, and death of hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children. The tragedy of Vietnam will go down in history as one of the most pernicious deeds of the contemporary alliance between politics and organized religion. Factors of a political, ideological, economic, and military nature played no mean role in the unfolding of the war, but the religion of the Catholic Church was one of its main instigators. From the beginning her role has been minimized when not obliterated altogether. Concrete facts however, cannot be wiped away so easily, and it is these which we shall now scrutinize, even if briefly. — Avro Manhattan, Vietnam: Why Did We Go?, Chick Publications, 1984, p. 13, emphasis added. The publisher’s foreword to this book, page 3, states: Avro Manhattan, world authority on Vatican politics, has blown the cover on the real reason our boys suffered and died in Vietnam. He traces their death to the Vatican’s passionate desire to make Asia Roman Catholic. Vatican agents hatched and plotted the Vietnam War. American soldiers were serving the Vatican in their desperate struggle to survive the jungles, the hell of warfare, pain, death and destruction. It was all engineered by…her Jesuits. — Ibid. p. 3, emphasis added. Many, especially Catholics, may take exception to the facts stated in the previous quotes, but we must present the facts as they are and as they happened. When this book talks about the Catholic Church, it is not speaking of the faithful church members who know nothing about things like this. It is speaking of the rulers of the Vatican and their Order of the Jesuits. According to Avro Manhattan, the war in Vietnam was fought because the Vatican wanted to create a power base in Southeast Asia from which to take over all of Southeast Asia and then all of Asia. The following quotes are from this same book. Ho Chi Minh began before World War Two to maneuver for a communist Vietnam. He received help from the U.S. against the Japanese but used that aid to consolidate his hold on the highlands of Tonkin. In August, 1945 he marched into Hanoi and set up the provisional government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. A master strategist, he cooperated in the transplanting of nearly a million Catholic North Vietnamese into the South…After the election of Pope John the 23rd in 1958 and the turn of the Vatican from the Cold War toward cooperation with Marxism, Ho Chi Minh made a secret deal with Pope John which eventually led to full control of the country by the North. — Ibid. p. 177. President Ngo Dinh Diem of South Vietnam was a practicing Catholic who ruled South Vietnam with an iron fist. He was a genuine believer in the evil of Communism and the uniqueness of the Catholic Church. He had originally been planted in the presidency by Cardinal Spellman and Pope Pius the 12th. He transformed the presidency into a virtual Catholic dictatorship, ruthlessly crushing his religious and political opponents. Many Buddhist monks committed suicide by fire, burning themselves alive in protest against his religious persecutions. His discriminatory persecution of non-Catholics, particularly Buddhists, caused the disruption of the government and mass desertions in the army. This eventually led to U.S. military intervention in South Vietnam. In this terrorization he was aided by his two Catholic brothers, the Chief of the Secret Police and the Archbishop of Hue. — Ibid. p. 56, (emphasis added). Cardinal Francis Spellman, the archbishop of New York, was the key man that brought America into the conflict. He was active in persuading the U.S. to select Diem and support him as president of South Vietnam. He was made Vicar General of the U.S. Armed Forces and called the GIs the ‘Soldiers of Christ’ [meaning soldiers for the Catholic Church] in his frequent visits to the Vietnam war front. — Ibid. p. 71. The Vatican played both sides against each other in this Vietnamese Civil War. They controlled Diem in the South while advising and making secret deals with Ho Chi Minh in the North. Thus, however the war turned out, the Vatican would triumph and have control in Vietnam. President Kennedy’s attempt to halt the bloodbath incurred the undying wrath of the instigators of the war — the Jesuits of the papacy. President Kennedy began to de-escalate America’s involvement in Vietnam shortly before his death. The day after his brutal murder, the following occurred: At 8:30 a.m., Saturday, the 23rd of November, 1963, the limousine carrying CIA director John McCone pulled into the White House grounds…. He was also there to transact one piece of business prior to becoming involved in all the details entailed in a presidential transition — the signing of National Security Memorandum 278, a classified document which immediately reversed John Kennedy’s decision to de-escalate the war in Vietnam. The effect of Memorandum 278 would give the Central Intelligence Agency carte blanche to proceed with a full-scale war in the Far East…. In effect, as of November 23, 1963, the Far East would replace Cuba as the thorn in America’s side. It would also create a whole new source of narcotics for the Mafia’s worldwide markets. — Robert Morrow, First Hand Knowledge, Shapolsky Publishers, p. 249. The day after Kennedy was killed, the decision to stop America’s involvement in Vietnam was reversed and the Vatican’s program continued. Morrow’s statement also revealed another reason for the Jesuits wanting to continue the war; they would make billions of dollars in the international drug trade. For the last four centuries, the Jesuits had been involved in the Far East drug trade and they certainly did not want to lose this opportunity, even if it meant the lives of millions of people! Since the original Jesuit mission had established itself in Beijing in 1601, the Society of Jesus [the Jesuits] had held the key to the Far East Trade — including the drug trade. — assorted authors, Dope, Inc.: The Book that Drove Kissenger Crazy, Executive Intelligence Review, p. 117, (emphasis added). The Jesuit controlled politicians in Washington wanted to continue the war in Vietnam. They wanted to create a Catholic power in Southeast Asia. They wanted to maintain their control of the international drug market that they had held for 400 years in the Far East. When President Kennedy stood in their way, he had to be removed. The Jesuits had John Kennedy assassinated. The second reason for Kennedy’s assassination was his intention to eliminate the Federal Reserve. Colonel James Gritz explains, When Kennedy called for a return of America’s currency to the gold standard, and the dismantling of the Federal Reserve System — he actually minted non-debt money that does not bear the mark of the Federal Reserve; when he dared to actually exercise the leadership authority granted to him by the U.S. Constitution…Kennedy prepared his own death warrant. It was time for him to go. — Colonel James Gritz, Called to Serve: Profiles in Conspiracy from John F. Kennedy to George Bush, Lazarus Publishing, pp 511, 512. President Kennedy was attempting to dismantle the Federal Reserve System, which is the central bank of the United States, a creation of the Jesuits. The Constitution of the United States gives to Congress the power to coin money. If the U. S. Congress coined its own money as the Constitution directs, it would not have to pay the hundreds of billions of dollars of interest that it now pays each year to the bankers for the national debt, for money that came out of nothing This is why Kennedy began to issue U.S. government money that was free of debt to replace the Federal Reserve dollars we have been using. We have seen in previous chapters who was responsible for the creation of the Federal Reserve Bank, and the unconstitutional operation of this bank that steals money from U.S. citizens. The Jesuits, if you will remember from chapter two, tried to assassinate President Andrew Jackson for discontinuing the central bank. They unfortunately succeeded in assassinating Kennedy for trying to do the same thing. The Jesuits uses the wealth created by the Federal Reserve to finance their murderous deeds. John Kennedy incurred the deadly wrath of the Jesuits for daring to act as the President and not as their puppet. But you say, “Wait a minute. Kennedy was a Roman Catholic. He was the only Catholic president we ever had.” That is exactly right. Even though Kennedy was Catholic, he put the welfare of the United States before the desires of the papacy. He was not a Jesuit. Here is a very interesting section from the secret instructions of the Jesuit Order, written by their founder, Ignatius Loyola. Finally, let all with such artfulness gain the ascendance over princes, noblemen and the magistrates of every place that they may be ready at our beck and call, even to sacrifice their nearest relatives and most intimate friends when we say it is for our interest and our advantage. — W. C. Brownlee, Secret Instructions of the Jesuits, American and Foreign Christian Union, p. 47. We see here that if the Jesuit Order says that a person is to die, it doesn’t matter if it is your best friend, if it is your father or your brother; they are to be killed. What a dastardly, evil, and wicked system the Jesuit Order of the Roman Catholic Church is. Do you think that the Catholic Church isn’t that powerful? Do you think this makes them out to be too strong? Avro Manhattan tells us: Cardinal Francis Spellman, of New York , was the military vicar of the American Armed Forces in Vietnam. He was also the unofficial link between the pope and John Foster Dulles, the U.S. Secretary of State and therefore the Secretary’s brother, Alan, who was the head of the CIA. — Avro Manhattan, Murder in the Vatican, Ozark Books, pp. 35, 36. Thus, through Cardinal Francis Spellman, the Roman Catholic Church and the Jesuits had access to and control over John Foster Dulles, the Secretary of State, and John Foster Dulles’ brother, Alan, who was the head of the Central Intelligence Agency. Those two departments, along with the FBI, were in the hands of Cardinal Francis Spellman, the head Cardinal of the Catholic Church in New York. The Catholic Church in the USA, financially can stand up to all the giant trusts of America. Politically, she looms ever larger in the White House, in the Senate and in the Congress. She is a force in the Pentagon, a secret agent in the FBI and the most subtly intangible prime mover of the S.S. wheel within a wheel; the Central Intelligence Agency. — Ibid. p. 271. Jean Hill was also a witness to the Kennedy murder. In her book, entitled JFK: The Last Dissenting Witness, she states that during a conversation her friend, J.B., who was one of the policeman in the motorcade that was with Kennedy, told her, “Well, while Kennedy was busy shaking hands with all the well wishers at the airport, Johnson’s Secret Service people came over to the motorcycle cops and gave us a bunch of instructions. The darnedest thing was they told us the parade route through Dealy Plaza was being changed.” “Changed? How,” Jean Hill asks. “It was originally supposed to go straight down Main Street.” J.B. said, “but they said for us to disregard that. Instead we were told to make the little jog on Houston and cut over to Elm.” Jean felt her mouth drop open. “If you’d stayed on Main Street, Kennedy might’ve been completely out of range of whoever was shooting at him. My ‘shooter’ behind the wooden fence definitely wouldn’t have had much chance to hit him from there.” J.B. stared at her with a straight face. “Maybe that’s why they changed the route,” he said bluntly. “But that’s not all. They also ordered us into the craziest escort formation I’ve ever seen. Ordinarily, you bracket the car with four motorcycles, one on each fender. But this time they told the four of us assigned to the president’s car there’d be no forward escorts. We were to stay well to the back and not let ourselves get ahead of the car’s rear wheels under any circumstances. I’d never heard of a formation like that much less ridden in one, but they said they wanted to let the crowds have an ‘unrestricted view’ of the president. Well, I guess somebody got an unrestricted view of him all right.” — Jean Hill, JFK: The Last Dissenting Witness, Pelican Publishing, p. 113. So, the motorcade route through Dallas was changed, and the reason given was so that the people would have an excellent view of the president of the United States. The Jesuit assassins sure did! Other peculiar things happened too. Lyndon Johnson, the vice president of the United States, was apparently having a real problem. Continuing with Jean Hill’s conversation with her friend in the motorcade, “What are you talking about?” Jean asked innocently. “I don’t understand.” “My friends in the motorcade say he started ducking down in the car a good 30 or 40 seconds before the first shots were fired. I’d say that’s just a little peculiar wouldn’t you?” “Oh, come on, J.B,” Jean Hill said, thinking he had to be joking. “They obviously weren’t serious, were they?” “As far as I know they were dead serious.” J.B. said. “One of them told Maguire that he saw Johnson duck down even before the car turned onto Houston Street, and he sure as ____ wasn’t laughing when he said it.” “Well, maybe Johnson just dropped something on the floor and bent over to pick it up. I mean there can be a simple explanation.” “Maybe so.” J.B. said. “I don’t claim to know what his reasons were but this guy said it sure looked like he was expecting bullets to be flying. When I heard it, it made me start wondering about a whole lot of other stuff too.” — Ibid. pp. 114-116. Lyndon Johnson was acting as if he knew bullets would soon be flying, ducking down repeatedly before the shots went off. Texas law prohibits people that die in the state of Texas from being removed without an autopsy. Leading doctors at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas were held at gunpoint as the body of John F. Kennedy was removed from that hospital without an autopsy. Why? There was overwhelming evidence that there was more than one bullet that killed JFK. There was overwhelming evidence that the Warren Commission report was nothing but lies. There were many bullets that the doctors would have found that would have shattered the idea that Lee Harvey Oswald was the loan gunman. That is why an autopsy was not allowed in Texas. That is why Kennedy’s body was shipped to Washington D.C. where a federal autopsy could be made, where they could fabricate the evidence to support the lies of the Warren commission. There was a Jesuit led conspiracy to kill JFK and they didn’t want the evidence to get out, no matter how many people had to be killed in the process. If there really were several bullets fired that day in Dealy Plaza, then certainly the car would have contained evidence of this. And so it did. Three days after the assassination, Carl Renas, head of security at the Dearborn Division of the Ford Motor Company, drives the limousine, helicopters hovering over head, from Washington to Cincinnati. In doing so, he noticed several bullet holes, the most notable being the one in the windshield’s chrome molding strip, which he said was clearly ‘a primary strike’ and ‘not a fragment,’ The limousine was taken by Renas to Hess and Eisenhart of Cincinnati where the chrome molding was replaced. The Secret Service told Renas to “keep your mouth shut.” — Charles Crenshaw, JFK: Conspiracy of Silence, Penguin Books USA, p. 106. Renas was the head of security for the Dearborn Division of Ford Motor Co. Who was the head of that division in 1963 that dispatched Renas for the task of his life? Henry Ford II says today that the first time he can remember meeting Lee Iacocca was in November 1960 when he summoned the young salesman to his office to tell them he was giving him command of the Ford division [at Dearborn]. — Robert Lacey, Ford, the Men and the Machine, Ballantine Books, p. 531. Lee Iacocca was the man in charge of the Dearborn Division of the Ford Motor Company, who dispatched Carl Renas to go to Washington D.C. to get the car that JFK was in when he was assassinated. Iacocca was the head of the Dearborn Division until he became President of Ford Motor Company in 1970. Iacocca was part of the cover-up because he suppressed evidence concerning JFK’s assassination. What connection does he have with the Catholic Church? In Iacocca’s autobiography he says, It took me a number of years to fully understand why I had to make a good confession to a priest before I went to Holy Communion, but in my teens I began to appreciate the importance of this most misunderstood right of the Catholic Church. In later years, I found myself completely refreshed after confession. I even began to attend weekend retreats where the Jesuits in face-to-face examinations of conscience made me come to grips with how I was conducting my life. — Iacocca: An Autobiography, Bantam Books, p. 8. Roman Catholic Lee Iacocca, head of the Dearborn division of the Ford Motor Co. was the one who dispatched Carl Renas to get the limousine that had the evidence of multiple bullets that were shot from multiple guns that killed John F. Kennedy. Isn’t it amazing that many years later as President of Chrysler, Lee Iacocca went to Congress and asked for financial help? Since Catholic Iacocca had been such an obedient servant to his Jesuit masters, another obedient Catholic by the name of Thomas ‘Tip’ O’Neill used his power as Speaker of the House to get Lee Iacocca all the money he needed. There were many people who knew a great deal about the Kennedy assassination. Unfortunately, almost all of them died under mysterious circumstances. There was a concerted effort to be sure that no secrets were ever told. Even Jean Hill stated that several attempts were made to kill her and her children. Jim Marrs, author of Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy, wrote: “In the three-year period which followed the murder of President Kennedy and Lee Harvey Oswald, 18 material witnesses died — six by gunfire, three in motor accidents, two by suicide, one from a cut throat, one from a karate chop to the neck, five from natural causes.” ...A mathematician hired by the London Sunday Times in February of 1967 concluded that the odds of the number of witnesses involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy dying between November 22, 1963 and that date were 100,000 trillion to one.... In the time period ranging from November 22, 1963 to August 1993 over 115 ‘witnesses’ have died or fallen victim to death by strange circumstances, suicides or murder. — Craig Roberts and John Armstrong, JFK: The Dead Witnesses, Consolidated Press, p. 3. Kennedy was one of many Presidents, kings, Czars, and emperors who refused to obey the Jesuits and was killed for it. The role of the papacy in the heinous murder and cover-up of this crime cannot be denied. We have seen that the Vatican had a motive, the people in key positions to carry it out, and the people in key positions to cover it up. There was one group, one organization, whose historical background was characterized by the planning and execution of such deeds; that had a lasting consistent motive, before, during and after the crime; that had the necessary international connections; that had the money; that could elicit suicidal self-sacrifice in its members; and that continued to exist through all phases of the assassination conspiracy. Scripture Reading: Zephaniah 3:1 Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city! We are living in dark trying times for Gods genuine people. We need that God illumes our pathway. Also the light that shines in a dark place to illuminate our pathway. In our previous study we saw there is a personal dark spot in our human heart http://sabbathsermons.wordpress.com/2009/10/08/light-in-a-dark-place-of-the-human-heart/ where God brings Jesus into close inward proximity so that the dark place in our heart can have the light of Jesus shine there. In this study we want to examine the dark place in the church militant. This may sound strange. In Gods church is there a dark place in the church militant? How does scripture that we have been quoting relate to the church militant? A More Sure Word of Prophecy 2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: This is prophecy that deals with the church militant. Is it a suggestion that the church militant could have a dark place that prophecy can illuminate? We are considering through this detail of prophecy referring to the final church, the church in the last days, the church militant in transition as it enters into the church triumphant. This detail is our purpose to appreciate. The prophecies of the church militant in transition to the church triumphant. Let everyone who is seeking to live a Christian life, remember that the church militant is not the church triumphant. Those who are carnally minded will be found in the church. FE 294 Darkness in the Church? Is that a dark place in the church militant? In the church militant there can be found a dark place. A dark chapter just like it was in the church in the time of Jesus when he chose his twelve disciples. There was a dark chapter there with Judas. Clearly then in the church militant we must remember there are dark places. What is written in the prophecy so that the day star can illuminate this spot? This dark carnality in the church militant? We will explore the prophecy in Zephaniah 3 to enlighten our minds in regards to the church militant and the dark spot in the church. What time frame can we see that these words apply to? The Last Days Zephaniah 3:8 Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination [is] to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, [even] all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy. Here in the midst of Zephaniah 3 is an identification prophecy that Zephaniah is talking of. It is the time of Gods indignation which is included in this prophecy. There are also other scriptures that speak of that period. Jeremiah 25:15 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it. 25:16 And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them. 25:17 Then took I the cup at the LORD’S hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the LORD had sent me: He then goes into the detail of all the nations that exist at the time of Gods outpouring of his wrath. Jeremiah 25:29 For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts. The Shepherds of the Flock Who does the slaughter start? With the shepherds. Jeremiah 25:30 Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread [the grapes], against all the inhabitants of the earth. 25:31 A noise shall come [even] to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them [that are] wicked to the sword, saith the LORD. 25:32 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. 25:33 And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from [one] end of the earth even unto the [other] end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground. 25:34 Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves [in the ashes], ye principal of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like a pleasant vessel. 25:35 And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape. 25:36 A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and an howling of the principal of the flock, [shall be heard]: for the LORD hath spoiled their pasture. 25:37 And the peaceable habitations are cut down because of the fierce anger of the LORD. 25:38 He hath forsaken his covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger. The Wrath of God Anyone who has studied into the depths of the prophecies of the last days know its talking here about the viols of Gods wrath that are going to be poured out. Jeremiah 25:30 The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; Revelation 16:17 And the seventh angel poured out his viol into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. This is the seventh viol where the voice from heaven comes, Gods voice roaring from his temple. Revelation 15:5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened: 15:6 And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles. 15:7 And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever. 15:8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled. The temple in heaven is opened and out of the temple comes this voice from the throne. The fury of God and who else comes out of the temple? Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 19:12 His eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 19:13 And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. (Jesus). 19:14 And the armies [which were] in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. Can you see how all these texts are saying the same thing? The temple is opened, the Son of God with the angels coming to orchestrate the destruction of the nations during the plagues. The period of Zephaniah 3 is inclusive of this. It’s a prophecy that deals with the period just before and during the plagues. What happens just prior to the plagues? Before the plagues strike, what happens according to prophecy? The Four Winds Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 7:4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: [and there were] sealed an hundred [and] forty [and] four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. Here are the angels holding the four winds. We read in Jeremiah that there would be a whirlwind from the four corners that would destroy. The four corners are being held from the wind blowing until what? Until the servants of God are sealed in their foreheads. Here is the detail of the picture of the period that takes place and during the plagues. This is the prophecy, this is the light, and this tells us what happens in our day since 1844 when the sealing of the 144,000 started. Ezekiel 9:1 He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man [with] his destroying weapon in his hand. 9:2 And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them [was] clothed with linen, with a writer’s inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brazen altar. 9:3 And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which [had] the writer’s inkhorn by his side; 9:4 And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. 9:5 And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: 9:6 Slay utterly old [and] young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom [is] the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which [were] before the house. Here is a direct description of what we read in Revelation 7. The sealing work of the angel. This sealing of the servants of God is the same that was shown to Ezekiel in vision. {TM 445.2} We are looking at the details of the period of Zephaniah. What does it say? Those that sigh and cry for the sins that are done in Israel. If we apply it to these last days, where are the 144,000 chosen from? Out of the twelve tribes. Modern Israel is the church as Israel of old was. The description continues; John also had been a witness of this most startling revelation. He saw the sea and the waves roaring, and men’s hearts failing them for fear. He beheld the earth moved, and the mountains carried into the midst of the sea (which is literally taking place), the water thereof roaring and troubled, and the mountains shaking with the swelling thereof. He was shown plagues, pestilence, famine, and death performing their terrible mission.  {TM 445.2} The same angel who visited Sodom is sounding the note of warning, “Escape for thy life.” The bottles of God’s wrath cannot be poured out to destroy the wicked and their works until all the people of God have been judged, and the cases of the living as well as the dead are decided. And even after the saints are sealed with the seal of the living God, His elect will have trials individually. Personal afflictions will come; but the furnace is closely watched by an eye that will not suffer the gold to be consumed. The indelible mark of God is upon them. God can plead that His own name is written there. The Lord has shut them in. Their destination is inscribed–”God, New Jerusalem.” They are God’s property, His possession. {TM 446.1} God has shown me that at the very time that the signs of the times are being fulfilled around us, when we hear, as it were, the tread of the hosts of heaven fulfilling their mission, men of intelligence, men in responsible positions, will be putting rotten timbers in their character building–material which is consumable in the day of God, and which will decide them to be unfit to enter the mansions above. They have refused to let go the filthy garments; they have clung to them as if they were of precious value. They will lose heaven and an eternity of bliss on account of them. {TM 446.3} A dark Place in the Church? Examine some more detail before the plagues commence, the experience of the church and the people who sigh and cry for the sins that are done in the church.  There will be men intelligent in responsible positions putting rotten timbers in their character building. The leaven of godliness has not entirely lost its power. At the time when the danger and depression of the church are greatest, the little company who are standing in the light will be sighing and crying for the abominations that are done in the land. But more especially will their prayers arise in behalf of the church because its members are doing after the manner of the world. {5T 209.3} They are members of Gods church and they are crying for what the members are doing after the manner of the world. Is that a dark spot in the church militant that we need enlightenment on? These sighing, crying ones had been holding forth the words of life; they had reproved, counseled, and entreated. Some who had been dishonoring God repented and humbled their hearts before Him. But the glory of the Lord had departed from Israel; although many still continued the forms of religion, His power and presence were lacking. {5T 210.2} Here is prophetic detail of the last days. In the time when His wrath shall go forth in judgments, these humble, devoted followers of Christ will be distinguished from the rest of the world by their soul anguish, which is expressed in lamentation and weeping, reproofs and warnings. While others try to throw a cloak over the existing evil, and excuse the great wickedness everywhere prevalent, those who have a zeal for God’s honor and a love for souls will not hold their peace to obtain favor of any. 5T 210 To obtain the favour of any. Who do you want to please? Their righteous souls are vexed day by day with the unholy works and conversation of the unrighteous. They are powerless to stop the rushing torrent of iniquity, and hence they are filled with grief and alarm. They mourn before God to see religion despised in the very homes of those who have had great light. They lament and afflict their souls because pride, avarice, selfishness, and deception of almost every kind are in the church. The Spirit of God, which prompts to reproof, is trampled underfoot, while the servants of Satan triumph. God is dishonored, the truth made of none effect. {5T 210.3} Do you know what that feels like? I know it. The class who do not feel grieved over their own spiritual declension, nor mourn over the sins of others, will be left without the seal of God. The Lord commissions His messengers, the men with slaughtering weapons in their hands: “Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.” {5T 211.1} Here we see that the church–the Lord’s sanctuary–was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God. The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust. {5T 211.2} Wolves in the Church Militant You don’t want to proclaim loudly that this is Gods church do you? This is what happens in Gods church. I ask the question, Gods church? Gods own church? Full of this detail? Oh we want to place that on other churches in Laodicea as some don’t believe other churches are Gods church so who does it apply to? Gods church. Gods church militant. Remember, Gods church militant is not the church triumphant, there are carnal people in it. Even the ancient men. The ministers. It’s very fascinating to see how Zephaniah describes exactly this. Zephaniah 3:1 Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city! What does she do? She oppresses. Zephaniah 3:2 She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God. 3:3 Her princes within her [are] roaring lions; her judges [are] evening wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow. Its alright, we can deal with that tomorrow, we can gnaw them. Zephaniah 3:4 Her prophets [are] light [and] treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law. 3:5 The just LORD [is] in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame. 3:6 I have cut off the nations: their towers are desolate; I made their streets waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant. 3:7 I said, Surely thou wilt fear me, thou wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be cut off, howsoever I punished them: but they rose early, [and] corrupted all their doings. 3:8 Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination [is] to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, [even] all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy. Light and Darkness in the Church Here it is, the church militant. Her princes are roaring lions. Her judges are evening wolves. Her priests have polluted the sanctuary. As we read this, God says wait be patient because I will deal with it. What did we read? Commence at my sanctuary. Let us look at the detail of Zephaniah 3:1-5. Is this true? Is this applicable to Gods church militant? That her princes are roaring lions? Her judges are evening wolves? They are an oppressing city? The prophet’s light, treacherous person. Remember Gods law is very broad. Psalms 119:96 I have seen an end of all perfection: [but] thy commandment [is] exceeding broad. In a previous study we saw one of the laws – the pride that people in positions of leadership can be patrons over their brethren that Sr White says is not according to the law. Gods church has those kinds of people in it. No, we don’t want to hear that. We don’t to admit that. Then we are judging. No. All we have to do is take Gods word that’s all. We don’t have to judge any man, Gods word judges. Has God no living church? He has a church, but it is the church militant, not the church triumphant. We are sorry that there are defective members, that there are tares amid the wheat.” {TM 45.1} The church of Christ on earth will be imperfect, but God does not destroy His church because of its imperfection. There have been and will be those who are filled with zeal not according to knowledge, who would purify the church, and uproot the tares from the midst of the wheat. But Christ has given special light as to how to deal with those who are erring, and with those who are unconverted in the church. …. Tares will appear among the wheat; but it would do more harm to weed out the tares, unless in God’s appointed way, than to leave them alone. While the Lord brings into the church those who are truly converted, Satan at the same time brings persons who are not converted into its fellowship. While Christ is sowing the good seed, Satan is sowing the tares. There are two opposing influences continually exerted on the members of the church. One influence is working for the purification of the church, and the other for the corrupting of the people of God. {TM 46.1} What’s happening in the church? Light and darkness within the church. One pushing against the other within the church. This is what is written. Some people seem to think that upon entering the church they will have their expectations fulfilled, and meet only with those who are pure and perfect. They are zealous in their faith, and when they see faults in church members, they say, “We left the world in order to have no association with evil characters, but the evil is here also;” and they ask, as did the servants in the parable, “From whence then hath it tares?” But we need not be thus disappointed, for the Lord has not warranted us in coming to the conclusion that the church is perfect; and all our zeal will not be successful in making the church militant as pure as the church triumphant. The Lord forbids us to proceed in any violent way against those whom we think erring, and we are not to deal out excommunications and denunciations to those who are faulty. {TM 47.1} The church militant will have its evils amongst it in transition at the last moments as it’s about to come the church triumphant. Through long ages God has borne the anguish of beholding the work of evil, He has given the infinite Gift of Calvary, rather than leave any to be deceived by the misrepresentations of the wicked one; for the tares could not be plucked up without danger of uprooting the precious grain. And shall we not be as forbearing toward our fellow men as the Lord of heaven and earth is toward Satan? {COL 72.2} False Brethren The world has no right to doubt the truth of Christianity because there are unworthy members in the church, nor should Christians become disheartened because of these false brethren. COL 72 Do you sometimes get disheartened when you see false brethren in the church with their dealings? How was it with the early church? Ananias and Sapphira joined themselves to the disciples. Simon Magus was baptized. Demas, who forsook Paul, had been counted a believer. Judas Iscariot was numbered with the apostles. The Redeemer does not want to lose one soul; His experience with Judas is recorded to show His long patience with perverse human nature; and He bids us bear with it as He has borne. He has said that false brethren will be found in the church till the close of time. {COL 72.3} This will be the case till the close of the time of probation when the wrath of God will be poured out. In future studies we will go into detail in later the stages, how that transition will take place at the end of time. How close to the end of time do you believe we are? Already while the angel was sealing them in their foreheads, the others were following. Haven’t we seen the events from the First and Second World Wars through to now? The millions of people that have been slaughtered? Where do we think we stand? Till the end of time there will be false members in the church. We are here aren’t we? What did we read in Zephaniah? False brethren that were identified as leaders in the church themselves. What are they? They are oppressing. Her priests have polluted the sanctuary. The Lord is Still in Her Midst Zephaniah 3:5 The just LORD [is] in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame. “The just Lord is in the midst thereof”. Is that light in a dark place? Notice how it reads – “He will not do iniquity, every morning doth he bring judgment to light. He faileth not.” He is the light in the dark place. The just Lord is in the church militant. This is his church no matter what goes on. Let the light shine in this dark experience. Jesus is there, the day star arises in our hearts. What does he do? He brings judgment to light. He faileth not. There is judgment in the midst of corruption. He brings judgment to light that in the midst of this darkness in Gods own church, the company in the light will be illuminated in the judgment that he brings to light in the church militant. Do not despair, the daystar arises in the dark just before the break of day. The breaking of the day is when the plagues fall We must take courage by understanding the light in the dark place of the church militant. Dark Chapters Let us not dwell on the dark chapters in the experience of Seventh-day Adventists. They bring up a discouraging, depressing picture, and it would seem as if Christ, the Light of the world, had not been near to help. There was no need of the dearth of knowledge, no reason why mistakes should have been made. Christ was then, as He ever will be, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He was ready to help, and no one need have made grave mistakes or errors. {7MR 383.1} The time to which you have referred–a time dark, perplexing, and discouraging–let it stay in the past. Do not talk of it unless forced to. To make reference to the worst features in the experience of those now in positions of trust in the work of God, does not benefit anyone. Let us not call up the dark shadows of the past. Let the past lie where it is, with all its objectionable features. Into the present we are to bring pleasantness, hope, and courage. {7MR 383.2} If there are those who are allowing the enemy to obtain an advantage over them, tempting him to tempt them, and carrying out his plans, let not this appear. And do not bring up the dark, unchristlike deeds of the past. The dear Saviour was all the time inviting those who did these deeds to cease to dishonor God, and to turn to Him for help to do right. {7MR 383.3} At the present time we have plain evidence of the specious, artful working of Satan on human minds. We have to meet this working with determined effort. But let the dark pictures of the past be buried, and let them stay buried. Let us not cloud the mind of anyone by bringing up these representations. Let us at this time bring in all the light possible. {7MR 383.4} We may have been bombarded and experienced negativities in the church militant but let’s no longer talk about them. Let them be buried. This is what we are instructed to do. Let us focus on Jesus whom the church of his time crucified. We know they are going to do this to his followers again. Lets concentrate on Jesus on him who is in the midst thereof who every morning brings judgment to light. What is his judgment over his expectant prospective triumphant children? Pride Zephaniah 3:11 In that day shalt thou not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of thee them that rejoice in thy pride, and thou shalt no more be haughty because of my holy mountain. We must not be proud because we are in Gods church. Do what I say as I have a high position in Gods church. There is no room for that in Gods church. A Poor and Afflicted People Zephaniah 3:12 I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the LORD. 3:13 The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make [them] afraid. 3:14 Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. 3:15 The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, [even] the LORD, [is] in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more. 3:16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: [and to] Zion, Let not thine hands be slack. 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee [is] mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. 3:18 I will gather [them that are] sorrowful for the solemn assembly, [who] are of thee, [to whom] the reproach of it [was] a burden. 3:19 Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame. 3:20 At that time will I bring you [again], even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the LORD. There are kindred scriptures of verse 18. I will gather them that are sorrowful. I will gather my jewels; Malachi 3:14 Ye have said, It [is] vain to serve God: and what profit [is it] that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts? 3:15 And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, [they that] tempt God are even delivered. 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard [it], and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. 3:17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. 3:18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not. John 16:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. He is in the midst thereof. In me, you will have peace because I am in the midst of the church militant. Zephaniah 3:12 I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the LORD. 3:13 The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make [them] afraid. Micah 4:6 In that day, saith the LORD, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; 4:7 And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever. Who are the children that God will reign over? Those who have halted. Those who have become the remnant, who have been cast out by the church militant. Joel 2:30 And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. 2:32 And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call. The company in the light that is always within the church militant will finally be isolated. That is the remnant of her seed. That is the over comer. That is the church triumphant. Persevere through the darkness. Let God do his work in his church militant with us. In his church militant, if we stand faithful and true, he will bring forth his true people. Don’t become so overpowered by the darkness of the evil within the church that you see. Don’t turn back or turn away from that God is giving us within his church militant as then we will go back to perdition. Zechariah 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It [is] my people: and they shall say, The LORD [is] my God. Indeed if we will remain faithful in Gods church militant, what will happen? The work is soon to close. The members of the church militant who have proved faithful will become the church triumphant.– Letter 32, 1892. {Ev 707.1} Think on these words. The church militant is where we are. If we remain faithful, we will become the church triumphant. What does it mean to be faithful? The life of Christ was a life charged with a divine message of the love of God, and He longed intensely to impart this love to others in rich measure. Compassion beamed from His countenance, and His conduct was characterized by grace, humility, truth, and love. Every member of His church militant must manifest the same qualities, if He would join the church triumphant. The love of Christ is so broad, so full of glory, that in comparison to it, everything that men esteem as great, dwindles into insignificance. When we obtain a view of it, we exclaim, O the depth of the riches of the love that God bestowed upon men in the gift of His only-begotten Son! {FE 179.3} We will continue to explore these details so that we can appreciate the light that shines in the dark place of this present age of Gods church militant and of the darkness of the world around us so we can make intelligent decisions. Not be pushed from one pillar to the other. Not from one belief of thought to the other so that the light can be illuminated and so we can walk intelligently in the darkness and intelligently in the prophecies. German Chancellor tells people to openly support Christian values

In the wake of Muslim immigration issues, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said recently that Germany’s problem is not “too much Islam,” but “too little Christianity,” and said people should give more importance to their Christian values and heritage. In her address to the Christian Democratic Union party, which she heads, she said that amid the failure of opposition leftist-approved multiculturalism, there is a window of opportunity for the ruling party to stand up for its convictions, Reuters reported. According to Reuters Merkel said, “We don’t have too much Islam, we have too little Christianity. We have too few discussions about the Christian view of mankind.” She also cited the need for public dialogue “about the values that guide us (and) about our Judeo-Christian tradition. We have to stress this again with confidence, then we will also be able to bring about cohesion in our society,” Reuters reported. The issue of Muslim integration came to a fore through a bestseller by Thilo Sarrazin, formerly with the board of Bundesbank. In his controversial book, Deutschland Shafft Sich ab, (Germany does away with itself), Sarrazin said Germany is dumbing down culturally, biologically and professionally, The Economist reported. Sarrazin blamed this on the shrinking population of the country, the fact that the lower class and immigrants are having too many children, and because there are too few native, well educated Germans, The Economist said. Although Germany’s economy is performing very well right now, for Sarrazin, these factors do not bode well for the country’s future. His book sparked a strong anti-immigrant line against some 16 million immigrants, including four million Muslims, The Economist reported. Sarrazin noted that many immigrants drop out of school and live on welfare, with some forming “parallel societies,” and a few who “actively plot harm against their German neighbors,” according to The Economist. Middle road Amid this scenario, Merkel appears to be seeking a middle road compared to more conservative allies who would like to stop the inflow of immigrants from Muslim countries and would like to place more emphasis on integrating immigrants who are already in the country into German society, Reuters said. German President Christian Wulff, who is a Christian Democrat, worsened the controversy when he said Islam “belongs to Germany,” Reuters said. However, when he visited Turkey recently he also reminded them that Christianity has a place in Turkey, The Economist said. According to The Economist, German business is eager for more immigration and is not concerned where it comes from so long as the people have useful skills. Currently, the government is fashioning a law to facilitate recognition of the professional qualifications of hundreds of thousands of immigrants so that they won’t just be “cleaning houses.” Merkel has been strident in her commentary on immigration of late, but has carefully avoided the harder line of the Christian Social Union which is the CDU’s Bavarian party ally, according to Reuters. Merkel seeks to pass a resolution to stress the Judeo-Christian roots of German identity, and the ancient Enlightenment philosophy that is part of the country’s history, according to Reuters. Opponents say this could marginalize Islam, Reuters said. Merkel disagreed, however. The cultural identity of Germany would not limit religious freedom. At the same time, the principle of religious freedom must apply equally for Christians who are minorities in Muslim countries, Reuters reported. According to Reuters, Merkel said, “Of course, we’re for freedom to practice one’s faith. But that also means religious freedom cannot stop at our borders. THE Vatican should be treated as a kind of ''rogue state'' by the rest of the world until it stops using statehood - and the ancient rules of the canon law - to protect paedophile priests, according to veteran human rights lawyer Geoffrey Robertson, QC.

Mr Robertson, a UN judge, argues that the Catholic Church is the only religion permitted under international law to claim the privileges of statehood and its leaders immunity from civil or criminal action.

In his new book, The Case of the Pope: Vatican accountability for human rights abuse, to be published in Australia this weekend, Mr Robertson has laid out a powerful and cogently explained case in which he urges the international community to press the Catholic Church into abandoning canon law, the ancient set of ecclesiastical rules that also define disciplinary provisions for offences ranging from sex crimes to ordaining women.

However, these punishments, sometimes meted out under mediaeval written procedures run by fellow priests, allow ''neither cross-examination and medical examination nor DNA testing'' and ''no punishment worthy of that name''.

''The worst that can happen, other than an order to do penance, is 'laicisation', that is, defrocking, which permits the paedophile to leave the church and get a job in a state school or care home without anyone knowing of this conviction. Canon law has no sex offenders registry.

''While there can be no objection to an organisation disciplining members for a breach of arcane rules, there is every objection when those breaches amount to serious crimes and the organisation claims the right to deal with them internally without reporting them to the police.

''And that is precisely what the Vatican has been doing: instead of reporting to law enforcement authorities those priests who it knows to be guilty of raping children, and to be likely to rape more children in the future, it has been dealing with them under canon law, which demands utmost pontifical secrecy, moving them to other parishes and letting them off with admonitions and unenforceable penances … usually to say prayers for their victims.''

Mr Robertson told The Age that canon law was defective in failing to put the interests of children first, in not requiring compensation for victims and in condemning whistleblowers.

One of the case he discusses is that of a priest from Dapto, New South Wales, who had to go to his local newspaper to inform on paedophile priests in Wollongong but was ostracised and later committed suicide.

He says: ''Some of my family came from Dapto and the story moved me. However hard it is for clergy to inform on their brothers they must learn that the interests of children are paramount.''

Mr Robertson, whose human rights work has spanned the world and included defending Catholics detained without trial in Singapore and Irish accused of terrorism in the 1970s, says the Pope, as head of the Catholic Church and religious leader deserves the warmest of welcome and utmost respect.

But the claim to being a head of state is not a legitimate one: it dates back to the 1929 Lateran Treaty, which was not a true agreement between states but a bargain between Italy and Mussolini and the Catholic Church.

''The purpose of this agreement between Mussolini and pro-fascist Pope Pius XI was to destroy Italian democracy and to privilege the Catholic Church over all others.''

“The sky erupts. Cities darken, food spoils and homes fall silent. Civilization collapses.” The idea is not as fictional as some may think. USA Today published an article discussing such a catastrophe.

An electromagnetic pulse can be triggered by a supersized solar storm or a terrorist A-bomb, and would be capable of disabling the electric grid that powers modern cities and towns.

“Electromagnetic pulses (EMP) are oversized outbursts of atmospheric electricity. Whether powered by geomagnetic storms or by nuclear blasts, their resultant intense magnetic fields can induce ground currents strong enough to burn out power lines and electrical equipment across state lines.

The threat has even become political fodder, drawing warnings from former House speaker Newt Gingrich, a likely presidential contender. ‘We are not today hardened against this,” he told a Heritage Foundation audience last year. “It is an enormous catastrophic threat.’”

“Meanwhile, in Congress, a ‘Grid Act’ bill aimed at the threat awaits Senate action, having passed in the House of Representatives.

“Fear is evident. With the sun’s 11-year solar cycle ramping up for its stormy maximum in 2012, and nuclear concerns swirling about Iran and North Korea, a drumbeat of reports and blue-ribbon panels center on electromagnetic pulse scenarios.

“More than 200,000 miles of high-voltage transmission lines traverse North America, supplying 1,800 utilities the power for TVs, lights, refrigerators and air conditioners in homes, and for businesses, hospitals and police stations.”

“‘The electric grid’s vulnerability to cyber and to other attacks is one of the single greatest threats to our national security,’ Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., said in June as he introduced the bill to the House of Representatives.”

“Two historic incidents often figure in the discussion:

“On July 9, 1962…, a 1.4-megaton H-bomb was tested at an altitude of 250 miles, some 900 miles southwest of Hawaii over the Pacific Ocean. The pulse shorted out streetlights in Oahu.

“On March 9, 1989, the sun spat a million-mile-wide blast of high-temperature charged solar gas straight at the Earth. The “coronal mass ejection” struck the planet three days later, triggering a geomagnetic storm that made the northern lights visible in Texas. The storm also induced currents in Quebec’s power grid that knocked out power for 6 million people in Canada and the USA for at least nine hours.”

Imagine what could happen to society if a perfect solar storm would knock out a significant portion of the global electrical grid. Some scientists think such an event is inevitable in the next 100 years. “It has to be the perfect storm,” they say, but also say that they believe it is likely.

“While appearing to the children of men as a great physician who can heal all their maladies, he will bring disease and disaster, until populous cities are reduced to ruin and desolation. Even now he is at work. If you're like me, you've spent the past 24 hours unable to think about anything other than the fourth puzzle of Kryptos—the encryption sculpture that stands on the lawn at C.I.A. headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Cryptographers all over the world have been obsessed with deciphering the messages hidden in the 865-character text since it was erected twenty years ago. The first three sections were solved in 1999. They say stuff about illusion and buried secrets and the excavation of King Tut's tomb. But the last part, the final 97-character puzzle, has remained a mystery, confounding some of the world's greatest minds. Author Dan Brown referenced Kryptos in his bestselling novels The Davinci Code and The Final Symbol. The code has proven so difficult that its creator, cryptographer and sculptor Jim Sanborn, has provided a tantalizing clue to the New York Times: Characters 64 through 69, the letters N-Y-P-V-T-T, are decoded as B-E-R-L-I-N.

Since reading about this yesterday, I have been going crazy—poring over the fourth puzzle and its accompanying Vigenere Tableau. I have lined up the letters every way I can, numerically, backwards, forwards, upside-down, in the mirror. After awhile, they just start to spin and spiral and fall off the page like a collapsing house of cards. Then I got to thinking, what might be the significance of Sanborn revealing the clue when he did? Does this have something to do with Jay-Z's book, Decoded, which was released just last week? "Decoded?" That couldn't be just a coincidence, could it? Or is about the new information about the J.F.K. assassination that comes with the secret service agents involved opening up for the first time—in a new book and a Discovery Channel documentary, The Kennedy Detail, set to air tonight, the 47th anniversary of the shooting? Or is there a connection to the Dorito-shaped U.F.O. that was recently spotted, for the third time, in the skies over England? There must be, right?

Or is there perhaps a message in the medium? Why did Sanborn choose to reveal his clue to the New York Times? I've long suspected the government or the Illuminati, or both, working in collusion, might be sending me personal messages encrypted in newspapers. But how did they know I read the Times? Do they have access to subscription lists? Have they been videotaping me through my windows with long-range zoom-lens cameras on helicopters? Are there invisible camera lenses implanted into my lenses of my reading glasses, so they can see exactly what I'm reading, and read along, word for word, when I'm reading it?

What was I missing? What was the secret? For a while—many torturous, torturous hours—I chased the suggestion, which I found somewhere on the internet, that the "Berlin," might be a reference to the fact that the Berlin Wall came down while Sanborn was working on his sculpture, and that a monument to that historical event actually sits near to Kryptos on the Langley lawn.

This turned out to be a red herring. Because, finally late last night—or early this morning, I don't know, I haven't slept—the letters suddenly stopped swirling and fell into place. Neatly, orderly, the words took shape, appearing to me as clearly as if they were written in lip-stick on a mirror that was not shattered into a million tiny pieces like the mirror above the sink in my bathroom, which I punched at some point last night after shaving off all my hair and my eyebrows with a straight-razor.

All became clear. I had cracked the code.

The final 97 characters,
