Is The State Holding Your Unclaimed Property?
This 60-ton door stands between the outside world and some of the most unusual and valuable unclaimed property items in Pa. Click the slideshow link in the story to see what's inside and some of the security measures in place to keep the vault's treasure safe.
Pennsylvania currently holds more than $1.5 billion in unclaimed property and is trying to find the owners. Many items are being held in the state treasury vault.Last year, WGAL compiled a list of just some of the unclaimed property holders in our viewing area and the value of the unclaimed property waiting for them. The list (see below) is organized by county and is in descending value order.
The names listed are not all of the names of people in the viewing area with unclaimed property -- it's just a sample. If you want to know if you're on the list (whether you live in WGAL's viewing area or not), visit the state's website here to search the database.
