Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky on Monday found himself in a showdown with the Transportation Security Administration in Nashville, Tennessee after refusing to undergo a full-body pat down.
The senator went through the scanner at the airport but was told there was some sort of "anomaly" with the scan and would have to get a full-body pat down, Paul's chief of staff Doug Stafford told CBS News. Paul did not consent to this and offered another scan, but the TSA insisted on the pat down.
According to the Associated Press, Paul said he was "detained" in a small cubicle in the airport, which is about an hour from his Bowling Green, Kentucky home, and missed his flight to Washington for a Senate session.
The TSA disputed the characterization that Paul was "detained." The TSA told CBS News that Paul wasn't detained at any point, though he triggered an alarm during a routine screening and refused to complete the screening process.
Passengers who refuse to comply with security procedures are denied access to the secure gate area. In this case, Paul was escorted out of the screening area by local law enforcement, according to the TSA.
"When an irregularity is found during the TSA screening process, it must be resolved prior to allowing a passenger to proceed to the secure area of the airport," the TSA said in a statement to CBS News. "Passengers who refuse to complete the screening process cannot be granted access to the secure area in order to ensure the safety of others traveling."
Paul's father, Republican presidential candidate and Texas Rep. Ron Paul, quickly tweeted about the incident Monday morning: "My son @SenRandPaul being detained by TSA for refusing full body pat-down after anomaly in body scanner in Nashville. More details coming."
Ron Paul left a similar message on Facebook, and Rand Paul's communications director Moira Bagley also tweeted the news.
Both Rand Paul and Ron Paul are known for their libertarian policy positions, and last year, Rand Paul blasted the TSA for conducting unnecessary pat downs.
In a June 2011 hearing, Paul told TSA administrator John Pistole, "I think you ought to get rid of the random pat-downs. The American public is unhappy with them, they're unhappy with the invasiveness of them."
After reports surfaced of young children getting intense, random pat-downs, Paul said in the hearing, "It just really just shows that no one is thinking... We need to be doing better police work and doing less of the universal giving up of our freedom to live our life the way we would like to live our life."
He suggested there should be a "trusted traveler" program in which people who travel frequently and are known to be not a threat, like congressmen, don't have to be searched.
Update, 11:52 a.m. ET: A TSA official tells CBS News that Paul was re-booked on another flight and re-screened without incident.

Southern Baptist leader says forgiving Newt not the same as trusting him with presidency

While evangelicals applauded Newt Gingrich for his sharp response to CNN debate moderator John King on Thursday night about his second wife, evangelicals are not necessarily comfortable with electing him as the “values” candidate.
Southern Baptist ethicist Richard Land said Gingrich’s answer to King’s question about his failed marriage to second wife Marianne was “tactically brilliant.” . . .
Land, the president of the SBC’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission and executive editor of The Christian Post, also disagreed with King’s decision to open the debate with Marianne’s accusations. However, he expressed that the question is relevant given the party Gingrich is running in.
“This is the party of family values. If you’re going to be in the party of family values, you got to walk the walk or you may be charged with hypocrisy,” Land said. . . .
Land agreed with supporters that Gingrich gave a strong answer. He also agreed with those who call for forgiveness. However, Land said, “Forgiveness and trusting someone with the presidency are two different things.”
Land said evangelicals and Christian leaders are in for a challenge if Gingrich becomes the nominee. “For people who have stressed family values and character, yeah it will [be difficult],” he said.
While Land and others have endorsed a candidate other than Gingrich, “In the end, Land said if Gingrich wins the GOP nomination, conservatives will get behind him.” I suspect he does not speak for all conservatives.

American Vision News reported Saturday on the eligibility cases against Barack Obama sustained by Judge Michael Malihi in Atlanta. Hearings are set for January 26. The Associated Press reported that Obama was “ordered” to “appear in court,” but we now learn Obama is scheduled to attend campaign events in Vegas on that day.

President Obama has been ordered to appear before a judge in Atlanta in a case challenging whether he is qualified to be president of the United States, according to the Associated Press.
The judge set the hearing for this Thursday after denying on Friday a motion by Obama’s lawyer to quash a subpoena that requires Obama to personally show up.
Obama, however, will be nowhere near Atlanta on Thursday. According to the White House, he will be out West promoting the agenda he plans to lay out in Tuesday’s State of the Union address. Obama Thursday plans to make appearances in Las Vegas and Denver areas before traveling on to Detroit to spend the night.
While this could mean, as some have suggested, that Obama is planning to snub the court order with executive defiance, others—both “birthers” and anti-birthers—are noting this is not quite the case. Dean Haskins of birtherreport.com writes,Let me make a couple points to try to put this into context. First, because the first response to “birthers” by many in this country is simply to blow us off as conspiracy theorists, Michael Jablonski submitted a sloppy, weak Motion to Quash. I’m sure he thought it would suffice with the judge—since the opposition were birthers; however, Judge Malihi obviously regards his role and the legal process much more seriously than that. And, because I’m sure he wants to make certain that, at the end of these HEARINGS (not trials), there is nothing that could be viewed as procedurally improper, he’s not going to grant the professional attorney involved any special favors. He will hold somebody accountable to understand the law, and I’ll leave it up to you to figure out whom that might be.
Here’s what will probably happen: after Jablonski recovers from his blanket party, he will likely file an amended Motion to Quash; and it will probably be one of the most thorough Motions to Quash in the history of Motions to Quash, and Judge Malihi will probably grant that motion.
And while one of the lawyers involved has announced Malihi’s “order” as if it were a great victory for her (Orly Taitz), Haskins warns that this hearing is nowhere near as definite or monumental as some are letting on:In the unlikelihood that Judge Malihi does not grant his amended Motion to Quash, there is something that is virtually guaranteed to happen: Obama not showing up to an administrative law hearing in the state of Georgia. Jablonski would appear on his behalf, and present a certified “birth certificate” and proof of residency for the past 14 years. As the certified “birth certificate” will be considered self-verifying by the court, nothing Orly will say will sway it. And remember, the end result of this hearing is a non-binding recommendation to the Secretary of State. So, no, Obama will not be handcuffed in Atlanta next week (he won’t even be there).

But what about the Sunni Muslim Brotherhood? Well, in 1928 the Jesuits created the Brotherhood via its Jesuit Provincial of the Middle East governing Syria, Lebanon and Egypt. Thus, the cities he ruled were Damascus, Beirut and Cairo. And in Cairo is the most important Masonic lodge within the Muslim world. Herein was the Muslim Brotherhood created to the end that one day all the Middle Eastern Arab nations would be under its control. Yes, the Muslim Brotherhood, like Opus Dei created in Spain in 1928, is merely the creature of the Jesuit Superior General, Black Pope Adolfo Nicholas!
Therefore we are not surprised to see this invaluable report coming out of Lebanon! Yes, the “Arab Spring” was a work of the Jesuit Papacy overseeing its Muslim Brotherhood as it attacked Libya, reducing the Berbers to subordination to Knight of Malta King Juan Carlos’ Mediterranean Union! Knight of Malta Maummar Gadaffi betrayed his patriotic troops into the hands of the Brotherhood and then escaped the country as did Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Both Jesuit Temporal Coadjutors were loyal to the designs of Rome and therefore were secretly removed from office, their deaths being faked for the world to see—and believe!
In conclusion, whatever the Muslim Brotherhood may do, know this: its orders come from Rome; its master is the Jesuit General.

Ron Paul: The Race for the Republican Nomination
After historic finishes in Iowa and New Hampshire, our campaign quadrupled its amount of support from 2008 in South Carolina!
Thanks to everyone who worked so hard in the Palmetto State to spread our message and help continue our momentum! I’m grateful for the countless hours you put in to recruit more voters to our cause.
Only a little over one percent of the delegates have been awarded, and although Newt Gingrich prevailed last night, there is only one candidate in this race who has the organization, the resources, and the volunteers to compete nationwide with establishment candidate Mitt Romney – and only one candidate whose name will appear on every ballot with Mitt Romney’s.
You see, at the very beginning of our campaign, I worked with my staff to create a strategy that would keep us in for the long haul.
The race for the Republican nomination will be a marathon, not a sprint, and we’re just getting started.

Religious Affiliation: The Dog that Did Not Bark

If prejudice against Mormons like Mitt Romney or Catholics like Rick Santorum were going to play a key role anywhere, it was more likely to be the South Carolina Republican primary, more than Iowa, New Hampshire or the upcoming Florida primary, but so far, religious prejudice does not appear to be playing much of a role in those contests, nor in the most recent Economist/YouGov poll of Republican primary and caucus participants nationwide [link to archives: January 14-17, 2012].
Republican primary and caucus voters do not care for Mormons as a group—28% have a favorable opinion, 26% unfavorable (with the rest neutral, mixed or not sure in their opinions). Two-in-three know for a fact that Romney is Mormon. Views about Christians (59% favorable-10% unfavorable) and Jews (46% favorable-8% unfavorable) are much more favorable among Republican primary and caucus voters. Among those voters, 52% believe conservative Catholic Rick Santorum is either Christian (28%) or Catholic (24%) in his religious affiliation, with 1% thinking he may be Mormon.
Among those Republican primary and caucus voters, 19% believe President Obama is a Muslim, which they don’t like: 16% are favorable and 41% are unfavorable toward Muslims as a group.

Obama admin: Religious employers must cover free birth control

WASHINGTON (AP) - Many church-affiliated institutions will have to cover free birth control for employees, the Obama administration announced Friday in an election-year move that outraged religious groups, fueling a national debate about the reach of government.
In a concession, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said nonprofit institutions such as church-affiliated hospitals, colleges and social service agencies will have one additional year to comply with the requirement, issued in regulations under President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.
"I believe this proposal strikes the appropriate balance between respecting religious freedom and increasing access to important preventive services," Sebelius said in a statement.
Yet the concession was unlikely to stop a determined effort by opponents to block or overturn the rule. If they fail, some predicted that religious employers would simply drop coverage for their workers, opting instead to pay fines to the federal government under the health care law.
"Never before has the federal government forced individuals and organizations to go out into the marketplace and buy a product that violates their conscience," said New York Cardinal-designate Timothy Dolan, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. "This shouldn't happen in a land where free exercise of religion ranks first in the Bill of Rights."
Officials said the administration's ruling was carefully considered, after reviewing more than 200,000 comments from interested parties and the public. The one-year extension, they said, responds to concerns raised by religious employers about making adjustments. Administration officials stressed that individual decisions about whether or not to use birth control, and what kind, remain in the hands of women and their doctors.
Underscoring the sensitivity of the decision, Obama personally spoke with Dolan on Friday to inform him of the announcement, an administration official said.
The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, a powerhouse law firm based in Washington that tackles religious freedom issues, predicted in a statement that religious groups "will never pay for abortion drugs in violation of their religious beliefs." Many religious conservatives consider the morning-after birth control pill to be an abortion drug.
Liberals and women's rights groups praised the decision, saying that women who work for religious employers should not have to accept a lower standard of health coverage.
"The administration stood firm," said Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. "As a result millions will get access to contraception, and they will not have to ask their bosses for permission."
Democratic Sen. Patty Murray of Washington, a member of Senate leadership, said, "The president made the right decision by putting access and the reproductive rights of women first."
Birth control use is virtually universal in the United States, and most health insurance plans cover the pill, usually with copays. Still, about half of all pregnancies are unplanned.
At issue is a provision of the health care law that requires insurance plans to cover preventive care for women free of charge to the employee. Last year, an advisory panel from the respected Institute of Medicine recommended including birth control on the list, partly because it promotes maternal and child health by allowing women to space their pregnancies.
Sebelius agreed, issuing a new federal regulation last summer.
That rule, however, exempted houses of worship and their employees, as well as other institutions whose primary purpose is to promote religious belief. Churches, synagogues, mosques and other places would not be required to cover contraceptives, it specified.
It was a different story for religious-affiliated hospitals, colleges and social service agencies.
Although many of those employers had not traditionally covered birth control, the new regulation required them to do so. Catholic hospitals, which at a critical moment had defied the bishops to back Obama's health care law in Congress, immediately sought a broader exemption. On Friday they were denied.
Representing some 600 hospitals, the Catholic Health Association expressed disappointment.
"The challenge that these regulations posed for many groups remains unresolved," said Sister Carol Keehan, president of the group. "This indicates the need for an effective national conversation on the appropriate conscience protections in our pluralistic society, which has always respected the role of religions."
The administration says between 1 million and 2 million people work for religious-affiliated institutions, though it's not clear how many would be affected. Some states already require religious employers to cover the pill.
For religious-affiliated employers, the requirement will take effect August 1, 2013, and their workers in most cases will have access to coverage starting January 1, 2014.
Women working for secular enterprises from profit-making companies to government will have access to the new coverage starting January 1, 2013, in most cases.
Workplace health plans will have to cover all forms of contraception approved by the Food and Drug Administration, ranging from the pill to implantable devices to sterilization. Also covered is the morning-after pill, which can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex and is considered as tantamount to an abortion drug by some religious conservatives.
However, the new regulation does not require coverage of abortions.

Girl Scouts not safe for girls?
The radical homosexuals have found out that their perverted scheme for the Girl Scouts of America will not go unopposed.
In fact, the lid has been blown off their whole operation.
You see, over the past few months Public Advocate has been leading the effort to prevent the inclusion of boys into the Girl Scouts ranks.
It all started in Colorado when young Bobby Montoya’s mother demanded that he be allowed to participate in his local Girl Scouts, including going on camping trips and sharing sleeping spaces with the girls.
And her only justification for his inclusion: He likes to wear skirts.
Despite the decision of the local troop leaders to turn him away for obvious reasons, the higher ups overrode them, forced his inclusion, and set a new standard for the Girl Scouts nationwide:
If any minor claims to be a girl they must be allowed to join.
There is no way of knowing how many girls could be hurt by this new policy!
Well let me tell you, the leadership thought they could get this radical change implemented nation-wide without making a peep, but this was actually the last straw.
You see, for years now the Girls Scouts of America have been secretly in bed with the worst of the worst in the radical liberal lobby.
Planned Parenthood, the Homosexual Lobby, and the United Nations. The national leadership for Girl Scouts of America works with them all.
But Public Advocate sounded the alarm and the fight has been on ever since.
Now concerned parents and young ladies in the Girl Scouts are fighting back against their leadership's out-of-touch proclamations.
Three troops in Louisiana completely disbanded rather than allow boys to masquerade as girls in their ranks.
And now a new group, Honest Girl Scouts, is educating the whole country about the radical Homosexual Agenda that the Girl Scouts are embracing.
At the fore-front of the Honest Girl Scouts is a young girl who has created a video begging Americans to boycott Girl Scout cookies.
It touches my heart to see a young woman willing to take such a stand against the radical Homosexual Lobby.
And I am very proud to say that Public Advocate’s work has played a part in encouraging her to speak out.
My friend, we cannot let them fight this alone.
I pledge to you right now that Public Advocate will fight alongside them in this struggle.
It is completely unacceptable that any group would put this nation’s young girls in that much danger.

Ron Paul: A Man of Faith
Dear Fellow Conservative,
As a Christian, I firmly believe a man's faith and his values are something we need to take into deep consideration when choosing the next President of the United States.
Earlier this week, I decided to endorse Ron Paul because, like me, Ron Paul is a man of deep Christian faith.
Of course, Ron Paul doesn't always talk about his faith, because he doesn't want to seem like he's exploiting it for political gain.
So today, I'm writing you to tell you a little bit about the Ron Paul I've gotten to know.
Ron Paul is married to his high school sweetheart, Carol, and together they have 5 children and 18 grandchildren.
Ron Paul is an Air Force Veteran, having proudly served our country as a Flight Surgeon in the Air Force and in the Air National Guard.
While in the military, Ron Paul took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. As a member of Congress, he's taken a similar oath, with one hand on the Bible and the other held high.
And as a Christian, an oath to God is something that Ron Paul takes seriously.
That's why, during his entire time in Congress, Ron Paul has NEVER voted for a single piece of legislation that wasn't expressly authorized by the Constitution.
That's because Ron Paul doesn't just "talk the talk" but truly lives his faith.
For example, as a medical doctor, Ron Paul had two rules in his office.
First, absolutely NO abortions. Second, his office refused to accept any federal funds.
But Dr. Paul didn't turn patients away. Instead, he treated them for discounted prices, and if they couldn't afford that, he treated them for FREE.
That's because Ron Paul understands that we are commanded to love our neighbor as ourselves in Mark 12:31.
In fact, a few weeks ago, a Texas man named James Williams told a touching story to the national media about how back in the 1970s, his wife had a complication with her pregnancy, and was having trouble finding medical care.
Ron Paul gave them free medical care, and he never even sent them a bill of any kind for his services.
When asked about it in a news interview, Ron Paul didn't recall the story. That's because Ron Paul did these types of things all the time.
That's just the type of man Ron Paul is and always has been.
As a Congressman, he doesn't participate in the lucrative Congressional pension program. He's never voted to increase his own salary. He's never taken a government-paid junket, and he returns a portion of his budget back to the Treasury Department every year.
Earlier, I mentioned how Ron Paul believes in a strict adherence to the Constitution and understands that national defense is the primary and most important function of our federal government.
That's why he voted for the use of force in Afghanistan after 9-11, and he supported going after Osama bin Laden and other terrorist leaders.
Our troops understand that Ron Paul knows what it takes to keep America safe, which is why he has received more contributions from members of the military than all other Republican candidates – COMBINED.

All Ron Paul is saying is that members of Congress should take their constitutional oath to God seriously, and if war is necessary, we should follow the Constitution and declare it, fight it, win it, and come home.
The Ron Paul I know is a humble man of deep Christian faith.
And I'm sure you agree that with the state of moral decline our nation is currently in, we need an evangelical Christian man in the White House to turn our country around.

As a Christian, I firmly believe a man's faith and his values are something we need to take into deep consideration when choosing the next President of the United States.
Earlier this week, I decided to endorse Ron Paul because, like me, Ron Paul is a man of deep Christian faith.
Of course, Ron Paul doesn't always talk about his faith, because he doesn't want to seem like he's exploiting it for political gain.
So today, I'm writing you to tell you a little bit about the Ron Paul I've gotten to know.
Ron Paul is married to his high school sweetheart, Carol, and together they have 5 children and 18 grandchildren.
Ron Paul is an Air Force Veteran, having proudly served our country as a Flight Surgeon in the Air Force and in the Air National Guard.
While in the military, Ron Paul took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. As a member of Congress, he's taken a similar oath, with one hand on the Bible and the other held high.
And as a Christian, an oath to God is something that Ron Paul takes seriously.
That's why, during his entire time in Congress, Ron Paul has NEVER voted for a single piece of legislation that wasn't expressly authorized by the Constitution.
That's because Ron Paul doesn't just "talk the talk" but truly lives his faith.
For example, as a medical doctor, Ron Paul had two rules in his office.
First, absolutely NO abortions. Second, his office refused to accept any federal funds.
But Dr. Paul didn't turn patients away. Instead, he treated them for discounted prices, and if they couldn't afford that, he treated them for FREE.
That's because Ron Paul understands that we are commanded to love our neighbor as ourselves in Mark 12:31.
In fact, a few weeks ago, a Texas man named James Williams told a touching story to the national media about how back in the 1970s, his wife had a complication with her pregnancy, and was having trouble finding medical care.
Ron Paul gave them free medical care, and he never even sent them a bill of any kind for his services.
When asked about it in a news interview, Ron Paul didn't recall the story. That's because Ron Paul did these types of things all the time.
That's just the type of man Ron Paul is and always has been.
As a Congressman, he doesn't participate in the lucrative Congressional pension program. He's never voted to increase his own salary. He's never taken a government-paid junket, and he returns a portion of his budget back to the Treasury Department every year.
Earlier, I mentioned how Ron Paul believes in a strict adherence to the Constitution and understands that national defense is the primary and most important function of our federal government.
That's why he voted for the use of force in Afghanistan after 9-11, and he supported going after Osama bin Laden and other terrorist leaders.
Our troops understand that Ron Paul knows what it takes to keep America safe, which is why he has received more contributions from members of the military than all other Republican candidates – COMBINED.

It is very simple to be saved. Dear Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner, deserving of Hell. Please forgive me of my sins and take me to Heaven when I die. I now believe upon You alone, apart from all self-righteous works and religion, as my personal Savior. Thank you. Amen.
Just take God at His word and claim His salvation by faith. Believe, and you will be saved. No church, no lodge, no good works can save you. Remember, God does the saving. All of it!
God's simple plan of salvation is: You are a sinner. Therefore, unless you believe on Jesus Who died in your place, you will spend eternity in Hell. If you believe on Him as your crucified, buried, and risen Savior, you receive forgiveness for all of your sins and His gift of eternal salvation by faith.
Christ died for your sins. You are a sinner by nature and by choice. Jesus took your sins and charged them to His own record. He went to the cross and paid the penalty for your sins. He says if you're willing to receive Him in faith; He will transfer His payment to your debt, and His righteousness to your sins. He will impute to you His goodness, and impute to His own record your sin; if you in faith will trust Him as your Savior.
